BTW a game can be F2P and not P2W you know. If FFXIV becomes F2P I will still be playing it. I still believe that the game would be better as a F2P.

probably if friends have quit and/or iRL stuff have to come first.
I do take breaks (weeks to months), but I see Eorzea as my MMO home, so I still see myself playing it for at least 5 more years
I might take a rest for some time, but the only thing that could make me quit the game for good was if the quality of the story dropped to abysmal levels. That is, if it fell prey to the retcon monster and started retconning left and right.
There´s nothing I hate more than retcons.
If they add a "Gunblade Job".
I've already quit once. Only reason why I came back, is because a friend of mine twisted my arm into coming back. Right now I'm on "life support" and ready to quit at any moment. Only reason why I haven't pull the plug, is because of the stories. I'm generally just overall unhappy with development/design choices made with this game. Every time a patch comes out, I'm just always questioning why this or that was added or removed or done this way. Do I hate the Dev Team? No but I do feel 100% that the development team doesn't try hard enough with certain content.
If it went Free to Play I think that would do it for me. I played a few games that went that route and within a year they went from a good game to not worth playing. Right now all the items we buy are cosmetic. Who cares if someone wants to buy a mount or outfit. It doesn't affect the quality of the game by making them more powerful and I must do the same to keep up.
For me probably the next Final Fantasy MMO or if they game suddenly went Pay 2 Win.
Basically I feel that the whole formula for gearing needs to be tweaked. Most of SB content has really been meh for me. The latest patch is better but mostly due to msq. They need to get away from this Japanese/asian theme- it doesn’t feel Final Fantasyish and I am hoping this moves on to something else before 5.0. And also, it would be nice to hear more on topics that are raised here in the forums from devs - example what will be done about ‘issue x’ . I miss final fantasy
If I couldn't play with my friends any more / have to stop raiding.
With the nightly lag spikes that make it impossible to actually play the game at those times (bleeding into my raid times, yay!), and the ever-growing price tag of the collection-side of the game, I've no actual loyalty left for anyone but my static/small fc.
So yeah, if my group somehow falls apart / just doesn't want to play anymore, then I'm out.
When the next FF MMO comes out.
DQX being localised.
It probably sounds like a really minor, really silly reason to quit, but if job balance continues to be so skewed and balance changes taking months to years, with some just being pushed to the next expansion, I can see myself quitting.
We've had the same Ninja+ Dragoon+ two ranged physical meta for all of HW and now seemingly all of SB with Summoner just barely creeping up.
Tank balance is still a mess and DARK won't be fixed until 6 months or the next expansion, and healers were doing good until these recent AST changes, which now sees things going in a similar direction to 3.4...
I understand there's no such thing as perfect balance, but this has just been an ongoing thing with no meaningful change in sight.
If they change up the way they do things too much. I honest like how things are set up here, not all changes are good changes. Other then that? When I get bored of playing is when I'll stop.
I'm already kind of there. My interest has been waning with each patch, culminating in getting bored within 3 days of 4.3. The job inbalances, clumsy decisions, sparse content spread across several months, the formulaic design, the Mogstation money grubbing; not enough pros to outweigh the increasing cons and sense of stagnation.
HoH and the Emissary of the Dawn ending are the only things keeping my toe in the water, so I guess depending on what we see next I'll be in or out. If it's more of what we've had 4.0, I'll probably be done.
To make me quit they'd need to go f2p, reduce patch cycles, go p2w (somehow), end the game, or make a new (and better) final fantasy mmo
I only have an active account encase I want Fanfest tickets. If I end up not going and the next expansion doesn't look like it's doing anything new I think I'm done.
I would be fine quitting now honestly. But I foolishly bought a house for me and my girlfriend (who has also gotten bored and stopped playing) so I'm basically just resubbing every 40 days ish to keep the house in case we ever start playing together again. Pretty crazy when you think about it, I'm paying for a house in a game I don't play. Ingenious idea from them though.
If they ever wreck NIN. What they did to DRK with SB almost drove me away, but if they ever do the same to NIN that will be it for me.
If they go Free2Play, or inject SJW Feminism crap into the game like Battlefield V seems to be doing. I just want to have a fun game, not to see it get filled with political correctness horseshit xD
f2p p2w would kill it for me in a second.
a all around better mmo
If the app comes and pushes more and more behind it, then this might sent me away.
If the greed gets too much then this might also turn me off..it already made me stop buying stuff from them.
And if 5.0 comes and we still barely get anything truly new and no real long lasting fun content..Also if a certain NPC dies somewhere in the future I will also stop playing this game, since I already lost most of my favorite characters and there is a line where it just gets enough.
If DICE had not promoted it would be an authentic portrayal of WW2, and said it was an alternate reality, I wouldnt care at all. But when you DO say it is a authentic portrayal, having british female amputees, Katana wearing soldiers and more on the frontline is pretty annoying to see, and makes me unable to shake the feeling the only reason it is like this with a female soldier as the boxart nothing more than SJW Feminists wanting forced diversity. And when considering Anita Sarkeesian has recently visited EAs studios, that makes it even harder to shake off.
Again, if they had taken the Wolfenstein route and said it was an alternate reality WW2, than they have gone as crazy and unhistorical as they wanted and I wouldnt care at all.
Well If all my friends quit I would try to make more, assuming that doesn't work I would try 1 of the servers in the Chaos datacentre (being more closer to home).
If that doesn't work I become a nolife raider clear god kefka and just quit the game till xxxx content.
Tldr; friends make the world go round for me in Eorzea, if I didn't have them I would go learn how to irl
This question was asked awhile ago and my answer is still the same. Inventory. I am a hoarder and if I get to the point that I can't continue to play because I can't add to my inventory due to inventory bloat, then I quit. I just can't dump glamour items, especially if it's a drop from an instance. If we had a glamour book or vanity system like DCUO I wouldn't have inventory issue.
Pantheon Rise of the Fallen will probably take me away. Not 100% away but I wont be nearly as active as I am now.
I'm an old school EQ player so this game calls to my soul. I do love final fantasy, always have since nintendo, but the feeling of being in a game like EQ is just one of a kind. I miss group play/grinds. So many good memories and so many friends!
F2P model, an increase in sub price, a big decline in content quality and quantity, a truly better MMORPG than XIV.
Up until now nothing in the horizon that can threaten my money leak to XIV.
No getting waifu and seeing evryone together making upset and jelly... But doubt ill quit.
I usually stop playing if I can't afford the time and finances on the game (usually it's the time). Right now I'm subbed to this and WoW, and between the two, I would boot WoW out of my budget before this game by a long shot.
As far as game design, it would have to go F2P/P2W to make me quit.
I might quit before next expansion I don't like what they did on technical forum by avoiding NTT Problems & our current QOL in SB are questionable as fudge. If 5.0 doesnt bring something new like reduce GCD or better location for server NA.
I am done with FF14 for awhile until fix they re stuff.
If they start putting politically correct SJW bull**** in the game, uninstall without even hesitating.
something better.
ATM I'm only subscribed because I own multiple houses and don't want to lose them. Selling them directly to players isn't a real option for my large shirogane house so I'm just here until something draws me away.
If the game went F2P... I don't even want to think about its potential impact on the quality. That would be the deciding factor for me.
Seems to be aimed more at eccentricity, character customization, and random "wow" factor points more than SJW-placation... Looking at all the downvotes, I expected 90% of them to be because of "this is too CoD", not "too SJW". It wasn't the women that stuck out to me. It was that virtually none of the player faction characters had a uniform on. Hell, just looking at it, I'd have figured it was an alternate history set of factions fighting, rather than WWII.
But, I too would be put off by blatant, invasive, and altogether unnecessary insertions of any ideology not fit to the XIV world (though SJW-ness would probably among the worst of them).
All of my friends quitting
I have games I like more by leagues. And I spend most of my time reading comics or drawing. Only reason I come back is because of my friends. That's the only reason I play MMO's. Because I can get a fat chunk of folks and we can go off and do stuff.
