Who all beat Red Chocobo Ex? (possible spoilers)

I died twice to choco meteors that I was definitely nowhere near the target circle for, presumably due to increased lag from how many people were around. Either that, or there was a non-targeted version of choco meteor or I couldn't see other people's tells or something. It was annoying, but some good samaritan raised me the second time and I was able to move on with my life.

All that said, still less deadly than encountering a group of red chocobos in actual Final Fantasy Tactics, so it's not exactly out of line. :)

I didn't even know people where having trouble with this. When I did it, there must have been like 5-6 other people there. Guess I did the right thing by going after the new alliance raid first.

I then tried doing the story, and decided to take a break right at the tea part. Which I then heard was another part people were having trouble with. :D

I died once, which is surprising. I wish more mobs were as dangerous as that encounter with a red chocobo.

I thought this was great, I had no problem doing it just used WHM and choco, sleep, DoT kited around. Was nice to have to use some tactics to get a quest done, usually just a faceroll.

Personally, It was the most fun thing of this patch to me.
I died a couple of times, until I figured it out, and then it was easy.
I was impresses by how much the Red Chocobo's HP was, it's so high!
That was a good laugh time over the chaos, haha

thou I have yet to do it (or even start the quest chain for it... or finish new MSQ, low on time for Patch day) I did see it & my only thought was "What the F@$k!" then "Why so many!", luckly Shout explained it to me, with my final relpy being "o.O okay... -_-! now it makes sence". Internially dreading getting that far quest wise later but hopefully there will be less ppl by then

If there were enough players and chocobos out the game could start object culling. The algorithm isn't very good so it could cull your target as well as anything else. Once an object is culled you won't see its AoE markers or its movement but you can sure die from them.

Died in seconds as white mage, Switched to warrior and managed it.

I really don't see why so many people are struggling with this =s

I just tagged my two with Aero, pulled them clear towards the dock and just nibbled them away between myself and my chocobo in DPS stance. I didn't get hit once and frankly it wasn't that hard to avoid placing meteors on my companion either.

Just don't be greedy with the AoE and ensure you pull your mobs away from the carnage and it's a piece of cake.

If you were on balmungs then you'll see the issues. LOADS of red chocobos and yours not loading and DEATH. So much death. It was great and maddening lol. So many falling stars mommy.

People were having issues with it on Mateus. So a few of us took charge and told them to spread out the chocobos and start assisting each other, once folks actually started using teamwork, the birds died easily enough.

When I got to this I saw a bunch of people going in all at once so 6-8 were up at once. But eventually everyone wised up. Considering there was only about 5 of us there we ended up taking turns. 2 people would summon theirs and everyone would kill them together. It took about 10 minutes for us to rotate our kills but it was easy enough to do if one is smart about it.

I did mine this afternoon and I was alone. As Samurai I fought them then meteor marked, I ran out and still got hit. I only had a sliver of HP left and sprinted to safety. Tried again and 2 people showed and the chaos ensued. I managed to pull mine out of the circle and kill them. I risked viewing the cutscenes and when I was out, there was a dead healer in front of me. I switched to Red Mage and rezzed them. All was good, but funny. They do pack a punch!

All those Chocobos need to be sued. lol

Died once, as a tank you usually get away with not moving out of the aoe markers. Well not this time, 2nd pull i kept full health. The aoe marker did seam pretty fast or it was a small amount of lag because there were like 15 of us.

Its definitely solo able if you pay attention and pull them away and dont use aoes. I welcome difficulty because I was in full tunnel vision before my death.

Hello! When I tried and died easily (since I underestimated the 'casual quest' as I thought, also, it was empty!) I realized it was too challenging. I sat for roughly 30 minutes watching one after another either finish or die. I looked into gear, and anybody my gear level died..higher gear level had struggle, but succeed, very high just succeeded (looked easily even). I looked into mechanic, however, when trying, the final chocobo was at 5% when I died and got upset -- nice try tho! I thought, but I knew I was not going to make it easily. I had an FC WHM heal me through - who by the way helped everyone else who needed it done for a time being. Bless him! I suggest if unable - please ask somebody around or FC member!

I did mine last night, and there were two others there. One fighting chocobos they spawned, and one just killing them indiscriminately. I was barely taking damage from them, and my chocobo was helping too...they really don't hit that hard themselves, and are super easy to dodge(I also did it on my RDM).

My battle log looked something like this:

Red chocobo casts Choco Meteor
You receive 51,707 damage
You receive the effect Vulnerability Up
You were defeated by the red chocobo.

Been years since I played Final Fantasy Tactics but that looks about right. Lol

Finished fast enough when I started casting holy on the large group of them there was around.

It was amazing chaos on Balmung, I enjoyed getting blasted to death twice by an entire herd of chocobo and probably 15 or so players. Meteors everywhere! I managed to get past the CS and stayed in the fray to raise until the group was done. I wish there was more content like this!

I thought it was very nice of square/everyone dying to help me get my raise achievements

Fortunately, some black mages were spamming the crap out of the hoards of red chocobos and killed mine for me, basically. :| I main healer and went in healer thinking I'd be pretty okay against the chocos with my healing prowess I was wrong, but it definitely took me a bit to try and... kill my chocos.



It did take me a couple tries, though, because every time I managed to kill one of my red chocobos, the other one vanished, so I'd have to try again (same thing happened). By the third try (and yes, I think I died twice, pft) someone else had crushed mine. :|

Made it through on patch no issues. Just a bit of a mad house but doable.

I can't tell if these meteors are having twice the aoe range they are supposed to have or my 200 ping is making this ordeal very difficult. I love the idea but it's really, really frustrating for us healers. > >;; Yet to pass it solo after 4 tries. Will probably ask a friend to help out later.

I did it alone as SCH, by the time I finished another player showed up.
