Request: Please add Alliance Raid unskippable cutscenes

Let's put it this way.

Back when i was new i ended up getting locked out of the boss room because i wanted to watch that cutscene.
This did not sit well with people, and they kicked me for it.

Just like that, 40 minutes lost. I had to start over.

I was fuming mad.

Nevermind the first time i did the HW final dungeon, watched the cutscene right before the final boss...and the rest of the group rushed in and got killed in the meantime because i was the tank. And then they kicked me...RAAAAAAGGGGGEEEEE!!!

And a number of other similiar incidents.

The fix for both this and msq should be skip automatically if everyone has viewed them once.
They should rework the msq quest to remove them also modifie to 4 man vs 8 and added to 50/60 queue without cs.

Why should 1 person hold up 7 or 23 other that is selfish if you want to partake in story and your not doing it when it's new there is the cs rewatch book.

I read and watch every cs and have never been kicked for it.
I also do content when it's new.

You can actually report abuse of the vote kick in game... And I do believe people can get temporary bans if they keep doing it too much.

Kicking someone for watching cutscenes is not really abuse and isn't a reportable offense. It would fall under "differences in playstyle" because one person wants to stop and watch the cutscenes and the other 3/7 people want to continue with the dungeon. A GM isn't going to care unless the offending party actually exchanged words in a way that would constitute harassment.

You do realize the irony of you saying that you get to do it but nobody else should when it inconveniences you, and also talking about selfish people at the same time, right?

Not when it's inconveniences to me but 7 other or 23 others.
I'm all for people watching cs but don't complain when people run though content without you.

Also another fix for msq is let the cs be skip able but in force a ilevel cap close to the content so going in with 7 is a disadvantage.

Absolutely not. There's a way to rewatch the cutscenes at an inn, use that feature. The cutscenes should under no circumstance be forced. If you want to watch them fine, watch them as they come up, shut up if the group leaves you behind. 2-3 people inconveniencing 20-21 others is extremely irritating.

Even in random dungeons with a few minute long cutscenes it's incredibly irritating when ONE player wants to watch the cutscenes and forcing the rest of the group to wait. That's nothing short of selfish really. You have a way to watch cutscenes without inconveniencing others, i'd recommend using it.

Nah, if it's done this way people will lure the boss outside the boss room, just to troll players. Which means they could find some place where they can hit the boss, and the boss can't hit back.

The most sensible thing to do is to not spawn the boss in the boss room until the entire party is in the boss room, or the ready check has a 100% inside the boss room. Failure to do either, the first player who crosses the boss room door line, begins a 10 second countdown where everyone is teleported into the room and locks it immediately, cutscene watching or not. I can think of at least one duty (Castrum Meridianum) where that would solve problems where players get locked out because of players pulling the boss while adds from the previous part of the dungeon are still going. The reason that is unworkable is because the Alliance raids often have 3-way splits, so you don't know where the party should be split up, but the game also shows it's hand about how to handle this because it does teleport teams around in Ozma, and a few other Alliance raids have mechanics that target specific teams to separate them.

The issue with the Alliance raids cutscenes has more to do with how many players are actually needed for "old" content. When the content is new, you want as many players as possible to burn down the boss fast. If the content is old, an entire team can be left outside the boss room and it will still be completed.

Edit: come to think of it, the entire reason it works the way it does now is to prevent people from doing a wall-to-wall monster train to the boss room, and having the monsters get locked out to avoid having to defeat them. Maybe instead don't spawn the boss while cutscenes or party members have enmity upon crossing the boss room door, and if it's just a cutscene, teleport them inside the boss room.

Please SE no more cut scenes at all, IN any dungeon nor any raid...ever ty. Holy smokes just do the logical thing and everyone can be happy, those who hate cut scenes and those who love them....so incredibly simple.

Have cut scenes happen just before accepting the quest to enter a dungeon or raid and of course after EXITING the raid or dungeon, but please keep all cut scenes in the future outside the raid /dungeons.

As for any existing ones..I am not in agreement of "unskippable" cut scenes at all.

With the exception of Rabanasty, the Alliance raid boss intro cutscenes are roughly 10-15 seconds long. That's more than enough time to watch them and then get into the boss room if tanks are in a rush for X reason. In most of my Rabanastre runs, tanks/people tend to wait a bit before pulling Duma.

Very much so, a solution wouldn't be needed if people were welcoming of new people in these duties. Before stormblood the community was welcoming to new people, this is starting to change, an mmo that's not welcoming dies pretty fast. This is not opinion, it's fact. Making content accessible is a way to make ffxiv welcoming btw, among other design choices like duty finder, rewards, etc. Other mmos don't do this or do it right.

It's strange how some are acting out of emotion and feel that 1 extra minute in the alliance raid duty will add 40 minutes of cutscenes. I like the interesting solutions some are suggesting here though. Please keep supporting this request or add a solution, the future depends on a healthy and selfless community.

Give me yet another reason to not do 24 man raids why don't you...

Also may I add... It's not the other players responsibilities to hold the hand of new players through everything and wait for them. The time of the 3, 7, 23 other players that already did the content is as valuable individually as the time of the newbie. Can you guys get that through your thick skulls?

I would beg to differ it's an opinion because there was plenty of jerks and and all kinds of hostility well into 2.0. Maybe you just turned a blind eye to it...because...mannnn, the kinds of things I've seen since my years of playing this game. Meanwhile, the game is still going because a lot of newbies find the sense to just ignore the people being purposely toxic towards them and realize that not everyone is like that.

There is a big difference between the cutscenes in MSQ and any other cutscene in the game. No cutscene in any said is longer than around a minute and there is typically only one mid duty cutscene which happens right before the final boss.

Mandatory viewing wouldn't kill anyone but I prefer the solution to just not let it start until everyone do watches or slips the scene.

I agree with this. Aside from a panning shot to show the boss, there shouldn't be cutscenes in any dungeon or raid. It just causes too much irritation on various sides of the argument. I do understand why they can't go back and retroactively fix the older instances, but going forward this should be how they handle things.

You could simply make cutscenes unskippable if someone is new... but then people would just refuse to take anyone who was new.

They could... stop putting cutscenes into the middle of these things and place them all before queueing and after completion... but that won't address old content.
THAT SAID, FOR ALL NEW CONTENT - PUT THE CUTSCENES BEFORE QUEUEING AND AFTER COMPLETION ONLY....

That said, unskippable cutscenes are why I don't bother with MSQ Roulette... they are just way too long...

Solution for existing content? I have no idea... This is a bit like player housing - done wrong from the outset, and stuck with a mess as a result.

With the exception of Argath, I'm not even entirely sure how 30 seconds isn't more than enough time to watch the boss introduction and still make it into the boss's room before the gate goes up. If that isn't enough time for someone to make it I would question what they were doing so far from the group that getting locked out of a fight is even a thing to begin with.

It’s more likely for people who were at the far end of the arena and end up at the tail end of the group. As a newcomer it can also take a few seconds to orient yourself to where the exit is. (Even now the World of Darkness boss intro tends to start before I get to the teleporter, but at least I’m not trying to watch the cutscene on top of that.

Even so, odds of getting locked out of anything that isn't Rabanastre (which has a one minute boss intro cutscene) is pretty low. You'd have to actually be making an effort to not be in the boss arena.

As an example, I had a tank in ST instantly pulling bosses without waiting for anyone to even be in the arena. They did this up until the final boss, where they managed to get themselves locked out (they tanked Xande at the entrance, so when he used Knuckle Press, the tank ran out of the arena, waited for the AoE to conclude and then got locked out because the barrier activated). They were the only one to be locked out.

While not half as bad as MSQ roulette, the fact remains that making cutscenes unskippable when the game itself gives you an option to skip cutscenes you've already watched is absurd. It's the pattern behind it that is worrisome more than anything.
That's before the fact that a lot of people will be actually hurt by it and could potentially even be locked out more from boss fights because of loading times. There're a lot of people who auto skip cutscenes to make up for their loading times. Forcing them to get through the cutscene and then the loading time on top of it all might just put them in higher risk of getting locked out, which is the selfsame problem we're trying to solve here. Difference is, after people watched the scene the one time, they likely won't bother with it again, but these people will be stuck with this issue every single time.

if this was implemented, I would say goodbye too alliance roulette just like MSQ roulette. forcing people to watch cutscenes they've already viewed is wasting people's time, plain and simple. FFxiv and Yoshi P have always tried to communicate that they respect their player's time in game but this goes completely against it but forcing you to waste it on cutscenes. no thanks.

Would be best if it flags new players and won't make boss appear until their cutscene ends... that way of no new people no waiting...

I would be more okay with being locked out of the boss room (where I can move around a little, mess with emotes, etc.) than being forced to watch cutscenes. Honestly this is what they should have done with the MSQ roulette to begin with. You want to kill the alliance raid roulette? This is how you kill the alliance raid roulette. And as someone who has spent anywhere between 45 minutes to 3 hours waiting in pre-roulette queues for the sake of farming gear I do not want to go back to this.

If you died at the previous boss, you are behind in time. Not only you have to get to the teleporter and activate it (which triggers loading screen on top of everything else), but you must also move all the way after the group.

Add to that the random excessive loading screens...and there are two reasons why someone can get locked out when added to the cutscene.

Every loading screen adds up to few seconds. EVERY SCREEN. That time can be extended for whatever reason if the server is under high burden or if the persons connection to it is whimsical. Though normally when teleporting between towns I can act within three to five seconds, just few days ago it took almost 40sec to load Idyllshire. 40sec for a single scene transition screen...And alliances, at least the ones I remember, have multiple scene transitions. As said above, dying near the end adds to that count another one.

Then there are people that actually are there to get gear. They will take time and, while not moving, open the drops pop-up and pick what to roll on and what not. It adds multiple seconds as well.

Being locked out is very possible. It may happen to one or two people regularly if the bosses are pulled early. Literally always that I did run some alliance and the boss was pulled early, there was someone locked out. I do not do the alliance raids a lot...but hey.

People rarely get locked out from my experiences with Alliance Roulette. So far the only person I've seen get locked out was the aforementioned tank in my previous post.

I honestly don't see this as a big issue some people seem to be making it out to be.

SE seems to have the opinion that players should be waiting for anyone who wants to watch cutscenes. I agree with them.

In my experience, it is usually only 1 or 2 people who want to rush in and leave the new player behind. The other people also run in and engage the boss because they don't want to be left behind. If more people would hang back and let the new player watch these short cutscenes and let the irritable people who pull the boss early die, this wouldn't be an issue.

What's done is done. There are cutscenes in group content and that's a bad design choice because it creates opportunities for bullies to push around newbies. I stand with the newbies on this one. I don't go into any group content unless I know I have enough time to play through multiple wipes and wait for cutscenes. I'll stand with the person watching cutscenes and wait. I am fine with skipping cutscenes, I really am, but I will continue to wait for even one person who is watching them.

Lets be reasonable here. This is an MMO. If you only have an hour of free time, is a roulette the right choice? I see this argument all the time. Someone only has an hour and the rest of the party shouldn't make that player wait for anything. Maybe that hour is better spent doing something else that takes less time than group content where you know you won't have to rush. Just because you are late for work and want to drive 20 over the speed limit doesn't mean you should be tailgating and honking your horn. Leave earlier. Do you just want to go fast? You shouldn't count on roulette making you that party. Sorry but you are getting a mixed group with people who might not have the same gaming style as you. Be a little flexible and remember that in SE's eyes, people who want to watch cutscenes have the right to both watch the cutscenes and fight the boss.

I've seen worse communities and I've seen better communities than we have in FFXIV. For the size of the player base, I think people in group content are usually quite decent. If the decent people wouldn't get coerced by the bullies, group content would be better for it. The number one reason that my friends give for why they won't leave Lord of the Rings Online and come here is because they feel intimidated in group content. That is a problem that doesn't exist in Lord of the Rings Online. The player base is mostly older people and because of the smaller player base overall, people in group content mostly know each other and are usually respectful and deliberately take time to make sure a newbie does well and enjoys a first run in any group content. Why does it so often have to be that a few bullies have to wreck things for newbies who get frustrated with group content and leave in FFXIV?

Good thing I'm almost done lvling my alt jobs to 70, no need to keep running them anymore and savage raid gear is equal / faster then Rabanastre, especially that now SE decided that everybody can roll on anything for reasons beyond my understanding.

I'm sorry that I do not like watching cut-scenes a million times.

If this becomes a thing then goodbye alliance raid roulette.

Sorry that I have full time job and other activities and I can 'only' play 3 hours per night.

Its still just your opinion. Facts are something that you 100% can prove and I am quite sure that nobody here has ever played every run that exists to make a statement that is truly a fact. Maybe it has gotten worse but maybe its just the same as before but you notice it more. I honestly already had bad runs with very mean people in the older raids and did not feel like much changed. People already pulled early in ARR and HW and they still do that in SB.

Keeping the entrance open for longer would still be a better idea than forcing everyone to always watch a cutscene no matter how small the scene is.

But. If they do this when will be able to dance randomly or use emotes while waiting on someone?

Again... why do veterans going on their nth run need to be welcoming again? Yes very nice, it's your first time in Rabanastre but the rest of the party has been here 30+ time, let's go already.

Hey, once you've see the nth wipe on Hashbrown, you kind of get excited to kill the last boss and get back to something you have less chaos in.

I seriously hope the devs don't listen to this tripe. Cause if you do this for everything I might as well just play something else. I have auto skip cutscene on for a reason. Catch up and do it when it drops or deal with it.

I'm not asking for unskippable CS, but being locked out of a fight due to wanting to watch it is not really fair for them. This has nothing to do with "doing it when it drops". And in every new content, I personally watch the CS, and if I get locked out, oh well. But if you bash me for watching it because I enjoy the story? That's quite rude of you if you do.
