I prefer ranged classes, and love tech. So Machinest is of course my go to class for when I take a break from healing. Trying to enjoy Warrior...but I really miss the range.
Bard and Warrior
Machinist because its challenging and fun!
PLD when I want to tank, SAM when I want to dps.
I'm currently leveling all my jobs (not one a time like a lot of people do where they do one to 70, then the next, then the next. I'm doing ALL at the same time because I find it more fun to do a command mission on one job, the fates for my challenge log on another job, the beast tribes on another job, hunting bills on another job, etc... I like variety, not POTD spam to 60 and dungeon spam to 70) and I have yet to find a job I didn't enjoy <3
But if I -had- to pick.
1. Red Mage. (Caster)
2. Dragoon (Melee)
3. Dark Knight (Tank)
4. Machinist (Ranged)
There are...other classes?
...
XD
I've played a lot of BRD lately, which has replaced SMN and SAM for me.
When I was a healer main, I'd vacation on tanks. It was pretty uncomfortable for me at first. I'd never tanked in an mmo, then of course you had those players who were jerks to me solely because I was inexperienced, but I wanted to understand the ins and outs to have a better perspective of what it's like to be the tank. I would definitely recommend healers seek out this experience.
And hey, now I'm a tank main!
Bard is great, it's my main for an alt character. It's great at synergy, which I find I like. Ninja on another alt for the same reason.
Due to not having much time to invest in levelling, I stick to just four jobs.
DRK AST BLM and NIN.
They're all fun, but BLM is my true calling.
Though AST is the last one I've tried and I'm loving it so far.
I'd consider myself to not be a good dps. But when i am not healing, i am playing monk literally most of the time. It's also my second highest class in ilvl apart from Astrologian.
Super fast and fun to play. Positionals are demanding to do the most damage, but with a little practice thats fine too.
Then again i am super casual. So don't quote me on my opinion please.
Bard for me, it's nice and relaxing (:
Red Mage. I like that they do a little bit of everything, and I like the mobility--jumping in and out of melee. At some point I want to try tanking, though.
I really like Ninja and mostly for the cool hand signs. It has such an interesting mechanic for its Abilities. It has so much utility and that is what draws me to Bard as well. I love classes that have a lot to offer the party. Probably why I like to heal so much.
WAR and DRG for me for tank and DPS respectively - namely because of the fact heavy armours + battle skirts = my glamour drug.
When I am not a White Mage..
I am a PLD.
Clemency gives me the same thing I get as White Mage...
The ability to look at everyones life bar and help the healer heal too.
Not every healer I get in a four man is an epic healer. All that party utility is amazing on PLD
I put myself through the torture of these beautiful cutscenes to provide these pics :p I had to dress appropriately in order to express my thoughts of this thread accurately.

I have often stated on here that my character has a dual personality even before doing the DRK questline. This duality came to fruition and manifested through those level 30-50 quests, and it was just crazy to me how coincidental it was to the lore I had written up for my character. The tears flowed like a freakin river. After this, it became quite clear to me that I was every bit as much a Dark Knight/Tank as I am a White Mage/Healer. So you have my WHM who prefers to resolve conflict through means that are non-violent. And you have my DRK, who will take matters into her own hands through 'blood justice'.
Lore aside, I absolutely LOVE DRK! Tanking is a break from healing, but it is FAR from a vacation. I find it more stressful than healing because I don't have the same amount of experience, and at the very least, an equal amount of responsibility/accountability in group play. But I love that. DRK's current state in the meta does not affect me because I am capped at 60 since I don't have SB yet, and I don't do savage even if I was there. I feel the devs have designed DRK in a way that makes it beautiful and graceful despite its nature, and the 50-60 questline alludes to this. I find it the most aesthetic of the three tanks and this is important to me.
RDM is my main DPS outside of healing. I personally have a preference for magic over physical DPS classes in general, but RDM is pretty easy to pick up. I don't have to memorize any complicated rotations to play it. Also love how easy it is to rez people.
I find SMN and RDM my favourite DPS classes, and I main both alongside WHM/SCH. I think being a healer just really helps when I go support/caster, as I already know what to look out for, and what times of fights healers struggle with for things like swiftcast-raises/mana shift, etc.
SAM for dps cause of the big crits and it just flows really well. PLD for tank cause of the safety and I can solo heal expert dungeon bosses... But also most recently Warr because holy shit its fun.
summoner is the best i love it when im not healing.
I tend to play BLM when I'm not healing. I've been doing that since ARR, and I still do. It's relaxing, feels smooth to play and I just enjoy playing it :)
DNC is my favorite job to play
