did one MSQ not doing another til it gets changed back.
i don't get why a lv 70 gets poetics as a reward, what can i use them for at 70 there is no incentive for maxed players to que and help the newer people complete it.
I dont mind allowing them to watch cut scenes but the least they could do is provide proper incentives.
not worth the time
I was about to run this today, a bit for curiosity a bit for masochism, then I remembered what happens when I run a dungeon with cutscenes I can't autoskip. It takes the game several seconds or even minutes to load me IN the cutscenes and the same amount to load me out of it. So with unskippable cutscenes I'd actually be the one left behind, so not only you take forever, have to sit through cutscenes you've seen till nausea, get hardly any reward at all, but I would even be left out of the fights LOL the irony.
Queued for science last night (EU prime) and was more than 30 min queue (same as before patch). Nope i will not queue.
I'd do it if I got 1000 (ONE THOUSAND) poetics from it. Otherwise, nope.
Back on this thread (I was there before with numbers about Castrum), now I have numbers about praet.
Pre-4.2, level 61 White Mage
I have 2 runs recorded.
1 run took 22 minutes, insta-queue (22 minutes total)
2nd run took 19 minutes, 5 minutes queue (24 minutes total)
Both gave the same rewards obviously.
Once again I only recorded the exp after defeating the last boss (completion exp) and the roulette exp. This doesn't include other bosses or mobs.
completion (last boss): 66261 exp + 20 poetics (1.36%)
roulette: 963,915 exp + 120 poetics (19.78%)
Total: 1,030,131 (21.13%)
total poetics: 140
4.2 run - level 62 white mage
While the level is different, which means the numbers are different, since it's only 1 level it should only be a marginal range of error.
Wait time: 4 minutes, but I did queue with another healer because an FC mate asked and I figured at least then I'd have someone to joke with during the cutscenes.
RunTime: 52-53 minutes (I was a little late to put my timer on, but not by much). We didn't do speed running at the beginning to the teleporters. We actually killed the groups as they came.
Total time: 56-57 minutes
completion exp: 637700 (11.99%) + 200 poetics - holy carp that used to be less than 2%
roulette exp: 2053281 (38.62%)+ 200 poetics - another holy carp
Total exp: 2690981 (50.6%)
Total poetics: 400
New person bonus: 100 poetics - In theory this bonus should pop up more often now as more non-new people quit the roulette so it's worth a mention, even though I didn't add it up to the total.
Overall mood: We were having a blast honestly. I actually noticed a person's outfit for once and we were poking fun at each other and the cutscenes. It was a really fun run.
Conclusion
While the castrum rewards didn't impress me, the praetorium rewards are certainly much more in line with the extra amount of time spent. It took a little over double the time, and gave me a bit over double the exp and quite a bit over double the poetics (even if using only 400 poetics to compare). If someone just had a long day at school or work and was not in the mood for something that required much effort, getting exp to watch some youtube or chat with friends during cutscenes isn't so bad.
I guess the auto advance dialogue was mostly added there to prevent people from afking on the first cutscene on praetorium on purpose.
Late and sorry for digging this up but I just got a Praetorium run as lv 59 with double exp (road to 60).
Started at 136000/3888000 TNL, came out with one whole level and 1424000 surplus so that's almost 5.2m exp. (→ 2.6m with no double exp)
The last boss gave me 1.6m exp and roulette reward gave me 2.8m thanks to the double exp. I'm not sure about how double exp works if you bring a lv 60+ into a lv 50 dungeon but if it does then you can still get the nice exp from boss kill.
The run itself took 50 minutes, no mass pulls.
Small logs on clear.

I'm pretty okay with this. This almost feels like I'm getting rewarded for watching (afking) through cutscenes.
I would gladly run the MSQ roulette if the rewards were Glamour or Minions of the Garlean generals within those instances...
MSQ Roulette wasn't even good to run before the changes. Now it's just complete not worth it.
Unskippable cutscenes is literally the worst idea to use at all. There's not enough rewards to make running MSQ roulette worth it w/ unskippable cutscenes in place.
There's literally an inn room where you can watch cutscenes if you want to watch them. No need to shaft the speedrunners at all.
The emotional damage done to myself alone will not be worth it
Just ran through Castrum and Prae the other night on my sprout PLD alt. I made sure to complain and heckle during every cutscene.
I stopped running it when they made the cutscenes unskippable except for last night where I saw a guys PF entry for Praetorium which had been sitting there for 30mins without anyone joining and he was begging to receive help to be able to progress, I felt pretty bad for him so I got another friend to join in the party and help him clear it, was painfully long but it was more so a good deed than anything else.
Definitely isn't worth running for any other reason now.
I ran the roulette after the change 1 time to see the xp it gives out and its been a long time since I saw the actual cutscenes.
I like it, however the rewards for it needs to be doubled. Along with the xp it is giving out.
Sadly the rewards do not equal the time spent in the instance.
I find parties much more friendly now, than ever before. I've been running it almost every day and the socializing and fun, relaxed manner everyone goes about the duty, is such a welcome pace from the mad rush of the last two years. Other than some tweaks to rewards, I think it's a positive.
I can never even get into the roulette, but despite how chill the parties are and the guaranteed level up, the 30 minute queue times during the late hours I can play wreck any chances I can get in.
What's this msq roulette you speak of?
.....nope never heard of it.
Ran it on an alt recently, it was probably the first time I've seen the cutscenes since my actual first times I got into speedruns telling me to skip. At least the chat was decently entertaining, everyone commenting on how Cid won't shut up or how long is that lift - though it probably gets stale if you run it more often. Wait time wasn't optimistic, got in after about 40-45 mins as a dps. Rewards are pretty meh, won't be bothering if they don't change them unless I'm desperate, I'd rather run the 100 tomes dungeons repeatedly. What hit me most though is that the cutscenes don't finish at the same time for everyone (not even counting in load times), which makes the whole unskippable part pretty much useless. Some of the cutscenes were still running for me when arena got locked out, and in Prae I literally managed to load to land 2 hits on the final boss.
While your attitude is admirable, unless you (well and people like you) can help every single such person on the data center, it's misguided at best.
I've heard nothing but complaints as well, both about the queue time as well as the experience while inside from both roulette goers (who swore off the roulette after the time they complained about) as well as first timers (on alts or in general). And hearing more and more that the queue times shot up only further solidifies how bad an idea this was.
It's an illusion and you're wrong. The xp granted is upped equivalent to the time put in. You're actually getting more xp per minute with the new bonuses vs the old rewards. It's been athematically proven umpteen times on other threads. Only difference is you have to make a bigger time commitment, but the xp more than equets for the time.
Do you have discord? I can run them with you, if you want. I am doing the roulettes on my balmung character daily. Unlike some of the people in this thread, I am enjoying the change in attitude with everyone in the dungeons. I also haven't noticed a change in queue times from the last 2 years.
Last night I ran my 68 warrior through and got over 4 million experience for the roulette. My 66 bard got over 3.4m experience the other day. Since I have one character in all 70's and am getting everything to 70 on my 2nd main(I have 5 level 70's on this alt), I have run everything more than most people here.
Also my main is on your server.

Been doing the MSQ Roulette on a job I've been leveling for a few days now. Every single one has been Praetorium. It's enough to start discouraging me from doing the MSQ Roulette at all. I've heard Meridianum is nice and quick, about 30 minutes, but Praetorium feels about an hour longer.
At least I can look forward to the vague chance of getting a Nero Triad Card, I suppose. It's the only one I'm missing from the four Garleans of ARR.
If I needed to make a suggestion, Praetorium should yield a lot more in terms of rewards than it does now. Unfortunately I'm aware that's not possible to distinguish the two.
Actually if you want to level you should be happy to get Praetorium.
CM is actually closer to 35 minutes. If you get even just 1 or both tanks that are new, that can increase to 45 minutes if they do not know the order to go in (*cough* like missing out on the incidiaries) and a lot of the other players just follow along without ever paying attention to that, so backtracking can easily add a lot of minutes to a run)
Praetorium is 45-55 minutes. So it's less than double the time of CM, while giving MORE than double the exp. A lot of people don't realize that the roulette exp reward actually DOES change based on which of the 2 dungeons you get.
So while Praet might take longer, it gives a better experience per time ratio.
And the reason I know that is because unlike a lot of other people, I did not go by "feels like".
I actually recorded time spent and experience given for real runs both before and after the patch in order to make my comparisons.
MSQ roulette likes to give me CM, and it annoys me because I know it's the inferior leveler AND it has at least 3 annoying CS right in the middle of battle. Praeorium's CS are at least in between battles so you can feel safe to step away.
CM however is dangerous to step away from during those CS. Since this game is horrible at applying things to a party at exactly the same time, some people's CS start 1-2 seconds later and thus end 1-2 seconds later. That means for a brief few seconds, someone becomes attackable while the rest of the party can't do anything. That means that the healers (which is what I usually queue has) have to IMMEDIATELY heal that person or they will die. Praetorium's CS never have that.
I'm guessing they'd need to provide more incentive for vets to run it. If that's all we get for the time we spend...no thanks. This was the wrong approach to the issue I think. If nothing else they should have been made solo instances. Would feel just as epic and no one would ever need to be/feel rushed. But if they are standing firm on this, they need to make it worth peoples' time.
I feel like tuning the rewards even higher won't help. We're already basically given a guaranteed level-up doing the roulette, and we currently don't have any current content that needs poetics to speed up progression (an issue marked by doing Eureka instead of a relic weapon grind.)
I also have a hard time staring at a "more than 30 minutes" queue time and not pulling out for leveling instead.
It's not just time taken to complete the dungeon, it's also the waiting and hoping you can get in.
If it gave Creation or Mendacity to 70s I might consider it. Poetics are less than useless no matter how many it gives you.
Wonder if they'll add the new buffed awards in 4.25. And if so, how ridiculous or not it'll be
Some daily cracked clusters couldn't hurt, figured I'd throw a suggestion their way. It could be for level 70s only, or something like that. Maybe a bonus cluster or 2 for adventurer in need. Enough people get them from hunts anyway that it wouldn't affect the materia VI market much. They are already cheap compared to how much they were going for at SB launch.
Amusingly, I ran it yesterday entirely because it gives poetics. Levelling GSM desynth, and there's a gap around 210 where you can't really make anything practical and 230 poetics items are your best bet until you can make 255 Triphane rings. Mendacity wouldn't entice me at all because I get capped from Sigma and expert so fast. I don't even know what to spend Creation on now.
