Patch 4.2 Notes (Preliminary)

- Never touching MSQ Roulette ever again.

- All of my level 1 glamours are going in the glamour dresser. This is going to free up so much needed space.

- Using my chocobo storage for crafting, and gathering exclusively.

- I love the changes to apartments, and I love the new servants. I need that Xaela girl dressed in purple. Hopefully in the future we’ll get room extensions. I want to have a bathroom, bedroom, airship worshop, kitchen, and outdoor garden/patio. I also want the maximum number of servants.

- When are the 2.0 ponies going to be able to fly/swim?

Excuse me, but have you looked at the data at all? Red Mage, more potent than Summoner?

Red Mage ties Bard for weakest dps. Summoner ties (and indeed, rdps included, surpasses) Samurai for strongest. The problem is Summoner has been destroying the other two casters by invalidating both. Some could argue that instead of nerfing Summoner they should have buffed Red and Black Mage, but no, Red Mage couldn't touch Summoner's damage or party contribution with a ten foot pole.

On phone, can't edit, but seriously go look at FFLogs data on the recent raid tier before spouting nonsense like this. At current, summoner beats samurai, and red mage is among the weakest jobs. Both facts disprove your premise, and the query in which your premise was built.

As a DRK main, all i have to say is... I no longer have any faith in their job design/balance team. The bias they show is astoundingly over the top and i am sick of my job being treated like it simply does not exist.

Boycotting tanking until they get off their asses and actually do something about the job that desperately needs help instead of making unnecessary changes to their god job.

The chances they'll actually change anything from now to launch are abysmal. At best, we'll get an emergency patch reverting this but the changes'll likely be live for several days. And that's besides the utter tone-deafness of introducing this change to begin with

Final notes only ever contain specifics on items and vendors. Job changes at this point are finalized.

Yeah, they have already coded it and have already tested it. Nothing will change but the rent at this point.

Barely that too, often they can't be bothered even to list new items.

I'm kinda unsure how I feel about the Excogitation buff to be entirely honest. On the one hand it's useful and ensures the skill is never wasted, yet on the other hand if it actually falls off without meeting the minimum healing requirement the cooldown for the skill has already come and gone. Which means you can just have another excogitation ready for the process to be repeated over again. I don't think there's going to be any content where this will necessarily be an overt problem but I'm worried about the slow power creep with SCH that might see another nerf down the line. I feel SCH was probably the most balanced it's ever been in 4.1 and while this addition is helpful, I worry what might happen to the job if we're given any more buffs like before. SE already nerfed SCH into the ground once and it made SB almost cancerous to level through before they fixed things. I don't want to see that happen again because they can't leave well enough alone. /However/ I'm reserving judgment for now. I'm only going to be concerned if the power creeps gets out of control in the next patches.

The rest? Only Doomtrain really excites me honestly, as does the FF6 references as a whole, but Doomtrain has been something I've wanted since I first started playing so it's higher on my list. I'm not sure how I feel about everything else.

I could swear they added stuff to the full patch notes that wasn't items before, but maybe I'm mistaken... Hmmm.

Oh well, we'll see soon enough.

I wonder how many hairstyles will be added in this patch, we have seen two hairstyles, but both hairstyles are very feminine. Does this mean we will get 4 hairstyles? 2 for masculine and 2 feminine? Personaly, I hope its the later, more hairstyles the better.

EDIT: I am wrong, the second hairstyle looks more neutral, this probably means only two hairstyles this patch.

How is RDM more potent than SMN, even after nerfs?

And what utility did they lose to RDM again?

Well, to be completely fair, which job was the job that actually beat floor 200 of potd solo again? Just sayin', don't bash me too hard..

I like that giant wall of WAR adjustments and then there's that microscopic footnote about DRK.

inb4 Vercure nerfs. That said, succeeding in solo content and one that relies heavily on rng shouldn't be taken as the be all end all indication of a job's worth in party content which is the vast majority of content in this MMO

Because old content is a fair stick to measure it by...

Yes, an outlier among outlier rdm with extreme luck solo'd palace of the dead to floor 200. Not saying this to condescend or bash, but it doesn't change that RDM is good for prog and nothing else at endgame.

Solo content =/= party content.

RDM proficiency in potd has nothing to do with its proficiency in raid and the idea they should be balanced around the former is laughable.

Are you serious? So basically all Mogstation outfits can't go into the glamour dresser unless you want to lose them permanently.

Buffing Hypercharge back then was not the right move, because it buffs the entire party for 30s.
But its sad, that SE doesnt give MCH something instead (like a bit higher potencies for the standard rotation or a higher potency for overdrive or something).

I thought I heard them say they were going to buff MCH's personal DPS to compensate for the Hypercharge nerf.

Could be something that's still in the works.

Dont count on that. It was a fan-made translation who said that. I really hope to have more personal DPS as compensation. We will see on thuesday.

After the they sayd they will buff single target (but they nerfed it LUL)dmg to compensate for aoe loss on smn. No way they will buff mch. Well not like that "1%" nerf is a big deal.

Glamour Storage Limit

The dresser can hold a total of 200 glamours regardless of equipment type. Once this limit has been reached, glamours in the dresser must be destroyed before new glamours can be added.

This is the point that pisses me of the most...they go around and say that we are able to get the item back (in the liveletter too..) and just a bit later its suddenly destroyed? The system already paled quite a lot against a true glamour log but this just makes it even worse..They could have just implemented another free retainer and it would have been better..that is imo (if its not wrong information in the patch notes) one huge lie..

And great how we get another retainer..but only if you pay for it.

Let's not fool ourselves, most of us knew this change for the MSQ was potentially coming. They mentioned it weeks ago. We all also knew that this change was going to kill the MSQ roulette. I don't know what they are thinking. They should turn these dungeons into an instanced area with some helping NPCs, instead of forcing people to watch 40 min of cutscenes. This, and the DRK changes, makes me wonder why we have certain forums sections if better suggestions are made but they are completely ignored with no feedback whatsoever.

Regarding the gear loss upon setting it in the wardrobe. I don't mind it. I certainly have no use for level 56 gear when I'm 70 already. It helps us to clean some space from retainers/inventory turning gear that we don't use anymore in, but it's a great glamour piece. Just be mindful of the things you're converting, and keep the gear you might need for other jobs still in your retainers/inventories.

Getting rid of allied seals and reducing the price on the Elite Grand Company gear when, Squeenix?

This shoulda been done some time during Heavensward when the new hunts started giving out Centurio Seals.

I like the changes to Gold Saucer GATEs. Clearly they realized nobody ever wanted to run Vase Off, so they had to make it cheaper and more rewarding (and occur less often). Good that all the other easy/fun ones will happen more.

They finally added a toggle to turn off battle music!

Few other nice QoL changes for those of us not up to date. Just in time for me to really take advantage of them.

Best thing is: Ultimate stays sync on 345. 5 more ilvls is a small but welcome safety net for the tight edge cases and content with title stays relevant.

Pretty sure the bigger complaint is that with a 200 item limit, they're still going to be forced to remove/destroy some glamour items, or otherwise keep them in their inventory (and thus not getting to clear up that space).

Have they listed the items added in a major SB patch in the full patch notes yet? I swear it's been "We'll list them at a later date" in preliminary, then "Screw it, we don't feel like listing them all" in the final patch notes.

People in this game have raised uproars over less, especially those prominent in the raid scene.

I have to say that the only thing that truly matters to me out of this update is the sucess rate of reeling in 2.0 and 3.0 fish.

This ^ It's kinda crazy how annoying some of those 2.0 fish used for 2.0 quests still are before this announcement.
