The purpose would be to eliminate the cost-for-performance argument.
"Quivers as gear" means you equip a quiver, which has an unlimited supply of a given arrow.

I wouldn't care either way. The only ones that would be hurt by it are Carpenters, but they have an income from Weapons and misc. gear and they will eventually be the ones to make furniture so I don't think it would be too big a deal in the long run.
I'd rather just see the arrows just becoming a single, equippable thing (ie: you equip "Cobalt Arrows" into ammo and you have an unlimited supply) rather than having to make an entirely new thing with the Quivers, cut out the middle man.
Archer damage is actually good now, and they can DD from far away. Once animation lock goes away the only real downside ARC would have would be needing to pay for arrows, so as a balancing mechanism I think it's fair. Arrows really aren't that expensive or difficult to gather materials for anymore.
like any gear come with some stats different designs so forth
That would be fine, IMO. I think most bows have their own quiver to match it though. I know Ifrit and Moogle bows have their own quiver designs.
throwing this question on all my advanced job threads to see what direction people want that class to go (since its now p2p). so what other advanced jobs do you think they should or could implement threw archer and a description of the job and their role(please leave the hate for bard out of your comments)
Ranger, which is what they should have gotten first (instead of bard)
Ranger seems indeed the most logical choice.
I have no problems with Archer getting BRD as a job though. I mean, if anything, this job will be as in demand as it is in FFXI, but it will also be able to do damage. I'd say it's a win-win situation.
Now that Archers were nerfed recently, it is entirely possible that Rangers will be the kind of ranged attacker that Archers once were. So it would make sense that, as an Archer, you specialize in pure damage, or in damage coupled with support. Therefore, your job is either Bard or Archer.
I agree that a ranged DD specialist would be best. GIving the choice to players to be the support job or the DD job. Personally, the only reason I leveled archer was because information was released that its first job would be bard. I love the support classes/jobs myself.
Musketeer. gun specialization onry. large damage on ws and attacks but longer cd between "auto attacks"
updating as more info surfaces
It's not a DD who has to worry about recasting supports. It's a support class that can throw in some ok damage between doing it's actual job.
BRD's primary objectives in a party is to tailor the right buffs to the right people based on the situation, backup heal and also help with stoneskin. They also have a valuable backup raise. In between all that, they can shoot arrows and deal some decent damage and participate in crowd control.
The quicker BRDs get out of their ARC-DPS mentality, the better the majority of parties out there will realize the true merit of jobs.
IMHO: Noctis is right.
Arguing ARC vs BRD comparisons in FFXIV while using "other games" is a moot point. FF strives to maintain uniqueness.
If ppl dont like the Jobs as they are outside of major chanes then dont play them.
I never argued a point, I stated my dislike. It is a dislike, or my opinion but yes bards -are or should be- archers and archer classes should be DD types not support buffers, in -my- eyes. if your all going to jump on the fact i disagree to fight have at you i said my point. as for dragon age origins id not know Loved the first one that one i put down like several others in disappointment. continue your thread im sorry I ever put in my two cents <3
Cheer up Kyri, u n kae were so much happier once upon a time in XI. yeah, i know and like ya both.
i am loving the bard so far but i wish Minuet of Rigor have a direct impact on phyical attack power and magical attack power instead of accuracy, basically increasing the damage from physical and magical attacks.
Ballad of Magi should mp refresh with larger amount a bit but that just me.
Paeon of War is awesome.
I agree with your post, but i think SE needs to get out of the DPS mentality for this Job so that the players can get out of it too.
Reviewing Arc and Brd together though, it would have made more sense to leave the new WS on Arc main.
The Brd should be crowd controlling through its Song (say for example, in FF5, instant AoE confuse or stop songs)
and buffing the party to the extent that no damage output from the brd is needed at all.
Before Jobs, everyone was doing a bit of everything (e.g. damage, healing, binding). With Jobs it still seems that way..., nothing wrong with that element of self sufficiency to avoid frustration, but it should be a fallback option for when things go wrong (e.g. bard or healer dies)
The proposed and axed monk Sap skill that was supposed to immobilise a mob but immobilise the monk too would have been better suited for a bard, bind himself and just sing sing and sing!
A bard should be able to combo or chain their Songs (say in a way similar to a Lancer stacks Life Surge) to 3 or more stacks for enhanced effects.
