Anything better than the boring stormblood Gyr Albania zones, such a letdown.
ffx : the moonflow, the farplane, Luca, dream zanarkand
ffviii : Esthar, the moon base, Balamb Garden, Ultimecia's Castle
Honestly though, i feel like it would be lame even if i got these things, as id just out level them.. We need maps that stay current.
Be neat to see a very large underground city and its inhabitants.
I'm definitely on board for some kind of underground city, maybe something similar to Giruvegan from FFXII (the first part, not the godsforsaken Great Crystal), but more vast and city-like.
I would love to be able to explore some of the 24 man raid cities as actual open areas we could check out, be able to go in directions other than where the raid funnels us. Like the other parts of Rabanastre or Mhach.
This is probably unpopular but I really want to see more done with the underwater zones. Most people I know hate underwater stuff but I like it. Like, I loved vashj'ir in WoW, I thought it was so pretty. But all my friends hated it and avoided it like the plague lol
Now that they have the new servers I would like to see them attempt a randomly generated large scale instance. I always wondered what was beyond the desert to the south in Southern Thanalan. An instance that is constantly bathed in sandstorms and shifting sands with limited visibility where you must trek carefully. You will slowly be constantly be fatigued (debuff) and once it gets too high you faint and wake up at Forgotten Springs. You can use Tents to remove fatigue and set a checkpoint. Your tents will stay for a few hours before being destroyed by the weather but maybe if other travelers find it before then they might find respite in it. Work by yourself or with others to find what lay hidden in this unexplored land but beware a giant moving cactus or is it a mirage?
As much as I would love to see new places I would love if SE just further defines the current places we have by either adding new zones or making another calamity hit Eorzea or maybe the entire planet. I've personally always wanted to visit that volcano you see in Mid La Noscea and that has always fascinated me since 2.0 beta.
I'd want to see a swamp or marsh type area that has underwater caves from multiple points on the zone. Also a city/castle area somewhere in the aether where we can find those damn Nobodies, ermmm I mean Ascians. I really want to beat them down.
Gotta agree with this one, though I think I'd prefer a more expanded underwater venture. When I first experienced the underwater swimming aspect of the game, the darkness and color scheme reminded me of Subnautica, which is a game I absolutely love. There are little trench areas deep in The Ruby Sea that almost gave me the same unnerving feeling that Subnautica does when diving deep into the abyss. The biggest drawback on that feeling though was that I know there are no dangers underwater in this game lol.
I'd like to see a full-on rainforest that has the occasional wildlife. Limsa has "a" tropical forest-y area but I'm talking like the whole thing big old green gnarled overgrown mossy humid forest
I always thought a completely vertical map would be cool. Like the side of a steep and giant cliff face that people have built narrow pathways into or things to climb up, and small shacks as outposts. Its more up and down rather than horizontal.
A big town with levels. Like midgar. Shops on different levels upwards. Not just zones next to each other.
A forest you can get lost in. The ones we have have clear and open pathways So don't feel quite as forresty.
A place where the forrest meets the sand?
I dunno. The areas we do have, although varied, do feel kind of small?
I would like something inbetween costa del sol and ruby sea. calm and sunny but lots of places to dive.
Would also love it if they could expand on the outer la noscea area.
For idea of an area not currently in the game? I'd like a flying ship area as an actual city, something big enough for guilds and shops.
PVP zones /10chars
Forgive me but I cant help but draw inspiration from another MMO ive enjoyed for quite sometime. world of warcraft. One zone with an atmosphere I was especially fond of was Duskwood. A gothic styled gloomy forest full of nocturnal creatures and abandoned farms. And a massive graveyard crawling with the undead.
I would like to see a zone like this. Imagine Haukke manor or tamtara's voidsent outbreak has spread and infected an entire area of the black shroud. We still have to see the west shroud, although if I recall correctly, the lore describes that place as being utterly destroyed by the calamity. And the cloest we got to it was the second binding coil.
Really wish they'd let us wander around Cartenau. Ruined, desolate areas really are cool to explore (or mainly because I was BIG into Bethesda RPGs). Heck, I'd like them to make West Shroud into a zone, it's wrecked beyond repair but I'm sure some creative writing things could change.
+1 to indoor zones or if we even go to garlemald, like some urban/tech zone.
i'd also like a bigger sea, i mean ruby sea is a big map but being just 1 zone, it feels small for a "sea". i feel the same with azim steppes and the sagoli desert in south thana. they are big maps (not for sagoli) yet they feel small for what they try to depict. so i hope we get like 2 or so maps of all desert/sea/plains
Somewhere that will be relevant after the expac is long done?
This. They created some really pretty instances for the raids, and then... we go there once a week and blow through them and almost never stop to enjoy the scenery. Mhach and Dun Scaith would be so much fun to explore as actual zones, especially Dun Scaith's creepy Alice in Wonderland-type garden area. The assets are partially there. Useeee them Square! D;
And speaking of another asset: I would love, love, love a zone based on the aesthetic of the lowest levels of Palace of the Dead. That eerie but also really beautiful stillness would be so amazing to explore more of.
