Ok. Well it takes 4 ppl to start an FC, 4 ppl to work the workstation. So why do people think 1 person owning an FC/FC house is working as intended.

Yes, but my point is that more wards is not the answer, which is the core of what the statement is implying. They could throw in a hundred new wards in every area and it still wouldn't solve the problem... and even the problem itself is not clear to most people (I'd even guess it's not clear to the devs). While people want housing in general, many now (and even more in the future) do not want a Small. Many are okay with settling on a Medium. However, no matter what status you are in financially, your real goal is a Large. Supply, even with hundreds of wards, is not going to be met with a simple bandage fix of adding wards to fix the face problem of "not enough houses" (unless it ended up being in the thousands or infinite).
Of course, it is possible that they are going to go that direction with 4.2. I do feel though that the bigger problem needs to be addressed in order to actually make an impact on the generic concern of "not enough houses." I would imagine a major shift to that direction wouldn't be kept underwraps so close to the deadline (a few months away). Likewise, I'd imagine that wouldn't be a fix they can complete so quickly, unless it were already worked on. I sincerely do hope that my own downer perspective isn't going to be right, but the devs aren't exactly reliable in doing what needs to be done lol.
and again.. we don't know. I personally am aware everyone who wants a house isn't going to get one if they add a limited amount of wards. I get that part very well. Who knows what they've been working on. Maybe they've been working towards instanced housing this whole time and shirogane was just another bandaid to keep people "happy" and it failed miserably and now they have decided to push up infini-housing to 4.2 and some poor team of devs is now on crunch time because everyone lost their minds?
again.. speculation.
negative or positive? Wait and see. Condemning without actually knowing what they're doing seems a bit overkill.
Sort of, but in a platform where you deal with a lot of immature people, and in the context that at the point of writing, he is not sure what they can actually achieve, I dont find the statement too far out there.
For example, he could of said, we will be working on trying to deliver many more wards, but realistcally, that may be out of the question and not possible. So if he did say that then said no dice a few weeks later, the pitchforks would be out and he would be cried down as a liar that promised more wards. This community is like that, they display it here every single day.
Its a shame he cant speak more openly and candidly, but as history has forever shown us, the plebs dont play nice, so this type of dialog is the norm for people in his position.

the idea was so lame.. I have to put another meme

you people need to get over it. it used to be that only FC can buy houses... so people started these one man FC.. that's when SE decided it is better to open it up to everyone instead.
if you are on a overly populated server... move.. it's virtual MMO.. please don't be like "but this is my home" and cry about the lack of housing.. ever lived in big city like NYC or Seattle? homeless homies yo.
on the other hand.. SE did not hold up their promise on adding more wand as the housing fills up. that's the main issue...also.. where's Ishgard housing?
2.x has 3 nations has 2160 plots.
3.x has 1 nation and 0 plots
4.x has 1 nation and 720 plots.
I understand they want to do this by nation... but I think each expansion should have gotten at least additional 2160 plots, it's not like the expansion costs less than the original game.
Then you didn't actually read the post. It's stated that, "we will be working to bolster our servers" also "and we will be making an announcement outlining the number of new wards and how they will be sold after reviewing said feedback". So yes there will be more than just new wards.
Beyond that, everything else is just stuff people are making up to keep the drama going. None of us know what, exactly, they are going to do beyond what was said in that post.

I can't even.
Because it also functions as personal housing. Otherwise people wouldn't be able to buy property without being in an FC. I wouldn't have a house, nor some of my friends and FC mates. The work stations are a bonus feature for those that buy the property as an FC estate.
I still want my ranch with some acreage and no neighbors. :-(
From all the early comments on player housing prior to implementation, I'm still convinced they were originally pursuing an entirely separate system from FC housing, then realized it was going to be too much work, and essentially decided to "flip the switch" to just let individuals buy them instead and save themselves some work.
All I want is for the to restrict accounts to one personal house and FC house per server going forward. Likewise, I want them to come up with a way for FC's to own apartments so they can reap the same benefits from the airships as other companies. Or at the very least devise some manner of specialized system for them to get housing such as the FC airship hub someone else suggested in another thread. I have more desires than that, such as properly instanced housing going forward, but I think a lot of these issues would be rectified if they put harsher restrictions so people can't own multiple plots. As well as a return fee of the initial, game mandated investment to give incentive to some to relinquish their plots after the fact who already had multiples.
This is just a silly argument. People have friends and attachments to their servers. They shouldn't be forced to leave because of an awful system that allows one person to own sixteen houses. I have lived in big cities and you know what the only obstacle between you and house ownership is? Money. If you can afford to spend 2-4M on a New York City penthouse apartment, you will find one available. In fact, I can google the housing market in any major city worldwide and find housing. It may be far beyond my budget, but it's available. Such an option doesn't exist in FFXIV hence why people are upset. A friend and I currently have over 100M yet we can't buy a house unless it's from a scalper. A virtual MMO shouldn't have these issues; most don't. FFXIV has among the worst housing systems in the genre because it clings to the neighbourhood concept few people genuinely care about. There's a reason instanced housing is overwhelming popular in other MMOs.
I left Balmung and got hit with a lobby error the moment I attempted to log in. Other people on preferred worlds had similar log in errors; with houses gone within 15 minutes. Guess transferring doesn't accomplish anything.
I wish only have Shirogane home style for where my fc is actually is :/
I also left Balmung and went to a smaller server. In 2 weeks after leaving, both me and my friend who left with me found houses. We didn't have any lobby errors on Tuesday and I could have moved to Shirogane easily, had the money but I prefer Lavender Beds. My friend did move to Shirogane without any issues. We both left some of our friends behind on Balmung, but we still talk to them almost every day via Discord. When SB launched, we didn't have any issues logging in and were doing the new content without issues until we hit Raubahn EX, but that cleared in a few hours and we were able to continue without a hitch. At the same time, our friends were in a very long queue, they had to wait hoooours to actually log in in the first place. Last Tuesday, I logged in almost immediately, while our friends on Balmung again had issues.
Point is, there are servers that don't have these issues. I see you went to Cactuar, which is still a fairly large server, so those issues remained.
i am in a 2people FC
i sold my FC house to someone for a cheap price to help during the rush of 4.1 ,
i dont even care a second about the workstation , its boring and too long to craft things , the FC house was the personnal house of a 3rd guy in our FC that doesnt play anymore but it had ONE advantage : its a personnal house with almost infinite rooms....oh and it was a way to get a 3rd plot of gardening :D
you are right.. money... and if you can't offer 999999million gil or $1000 cold hard cash.... what do you do? move out of the server just like how people would move out of expensive big city... to an urban area where they can buy bigger house with less money/effort.... you can always make new firends and that's not even a problem with cross data center friend list, chat, and PT.
you Balmung people just don't get it... it's comical. LOL
my old server couldn't clear Titan EX for nothing... what did I do? move to another server that can.
"lol you can make new friends, it's all about progression or nothing! "
Not everyone will value things with the same weights you do. If people want to hang out with their online friends in the overworld, being on the same server is the only option. The opportunity cost on Balmung for this is that they're subject to high competition for everything. This isn't the players problem though, it's the providers. THEY need to figure out how to deal with this. Offering free relocations and incentives solves this for people with little or no attachments to the server, but the rest? It's on the provider to improve their experience as long as the players are within the mechanics of the game.
Asking for a solution shouldn't be ridiculed. Offer an opposing viewpoint sure, but just laughing at people? Not useful.
My thought is that the requirements to buy a plot needs be revised in order to lessen the bad things happening.
My (questionable, ofc) suggests:
1) Single player can purchase only small plots
Don't want punish who wanna live in big ones, but limited resources are limited...
2) To purchase a medium or large plot, the FC needs have X or Y active players (defined as the number of FC players that have logged in a week) at the moment of purchase
No, you don't make a one-man FC to bypass 1)
3) The first purchase from a given IP address will lock future purchases from any account on same IP address for 30 minutes (relocations still permitted)
Goodbye bots (and alt accounts, ofc).
And I know, lot of people now complain they have brothers, sisters, friends, cousin, mum and dad, and all your family and family's friends playing at your home in the day of plot released for purchase. Deal with it.
You can build one of these special exteriors using a company workshop. Makes any house anywhere look Shirogane-ish
Remember whatever number of new wards works for small and medium servers needs to be done to an even higher degree for higher population servers.
We have 2880 houses per server now.
According to census data Balmung (which I am going to use as an example since I live there) has about 22000 active characters, unless I am mis-remembering.
They would need to increase the number of wards by about eight, to a total of 96 wards per area, to ensure each active character has a house.
Now obviously not every active character wants or can afford a house, and a lot are more than happy to just be a tenant- in fact in my, admittedly limited, experience the vast majority of homeowners 'couple up' with their SO or a close friend.
You could probably cut it down to 80 wards and be safe, with everyone who is interested and able to afford housing (including FCs) able to get one. By the time 5.0 launches if it included another new housing area that would provide for the rest of them and then some, in case the transfer embargo is ever lifted.
Now everyone, laugh with me because we all know this isn't going to happen. Looking forward to seeing this same problem again on all the large pop servers come 4.2.
Note: I share a house with my wife, so my horses in this race are tired and few, but it sure would be nice to have a place of residence where our other characters live who aren't paired off.
would you quit misrepresenting the statements, it's not "having a single-player FC" that's bad behavior it's making them on an alt (even multiple alts) for the purpose of hogging extra houses when it's a well known problem that there's a housing shortage.
it's like pirating a game/movie that you never would've paid for, it's like ordering so much food you know half of it is going to get thrown out. it's not a truly awful thing like rape and murder, if there's infinite supply it wouldn't matter if everyone did it but there isn't infinite supply, there isn't even adequate supply and it's well known that there isn't.
when a free company with 10+ people don't have a house when they have enough gil to buy multiple large plots of course people are going to feel like they "deserve" one before someone else gets a 5th house in a single player FC on their 4th alt character.
my FC has a Large Shirogane plot, i have a medium personal plot that i like and have no interest in moving anywhere except to maybe a beachfront Large in Mist, i even bought a small Shirogane plot on an alt to give to a friend. there's no "buttmad" here. i just have empathy for other people.
You were the one that said
if people are specifically looking for loopholes to get around rules designed to help other players, it's bad behavior.
Honestly they don't have an excuse for "didn't forsee the demand".
They can easily mine the player data and see how many people are eligible for housing and have the gil on their characters yet don't have a house. The current wards are clearly not enough. If they have not analysed the data then clearly they are deliberately creating a shortage. They want to see players fighting for housing. They want that publicity.
Up to now they have done nothing that proves otherwise.
