But seriously I can't wait for server merging.. actually I can't wait for language servers ~
Good to see other people from Saronia in here.
I had the impression that the numbers on our server were lower. I do think it's mainly because we have a bigger JP than US population; I party with JP players on occasion myself (for small things like Behests and whatnot). I actually think the numbers get active at 6 PM their time (~11 PM Hawaiian Standard Time for me), but I can only physically stay up until around 8 PM their time to see the peak population. The JP peak population seems to be bigger than the Western peak population for sure.
I also wonder how much of a population hit they're going to take versus the West. I remember an informal poll we did looked at losing maybe half our population when billing hits in the West. I wonder if the JP are more tolerant of the issues this game has compared to us.
Hi there. ^^
It does seem to me that the English-speaking population on Saronia has dropped off significantly over the past couple of months.
There is still a very strong Japanese player population, and you're right -- they do start to log in around 6pm Japan time, but it doesn't really hit its peak until about 10pm.
I am a bit anxious about logging in tonight.
Most of my closest friends will be continuing, but I'm sure there are other Japanese players who will not.
In general I think Japanese players are a bit more tolerant of FFXIV because it is a domestic game that does cater to Japanese tastes. And even if they are dissatisfied, many Japanese people tend to remain quietly so, rather than posting it openly (unless you have a very anonymous system like 2-chan).
I think that player demographics, play styles, and expectations are also very different.
I guess we'll see the real impact soon enough.
I know the devs and Yoshi-p talked about server merging, but did they say anything about the threshold?
I mean what the low number they wanna see before starting the merge?
I see alot of servers around 200-300 wich is pretty low, even if u combine 3 server that will still give u less than 1K players wich is considered moderate pop in a regular MMO.
FFXI usually has around 2k-3k people per server during peak times. Probably would be nice to have somewhere around there.
Which is a lot nicer then FFXIV with getting groups. In FFXI you can seek and get a group within mins or show up at a exp camp in abyssea and someone will probably invite you.
213 on Wutai as of this moment!
313 on saronia at this time
156 on karnak
if u read the thread you would already now how to get higher numbers, or if u just use ur head.... separate searches by level and then add them up. i know thats really complicated and i have no idea what genius thought of it but we should all thank him for THINKING
Wow so. Selbina is the highest populated server?
I thought it was a close tie between lindblum and besaid.
I was wrong >.>
Anyone on Lindblum? I gotta go to work in a minute so I can't check till later today.
Sadly I'm stuck at work so I can't say how many are online on Besaid right now though it always appeared there was a healthy amount of players on at most hours of the day.
700+ on Lindblum atm ^^
627 on Mysidia 30min ago. o.o
It's actually quite nice to read that there are still lots of players playing. I hope they can maintain (or raise) these numbers in the next month and for the rest of the year.
This is part of the JP prime time. This is when you should expect your highest numbers.
450 online yesterdy night, and 400 one hour ago on Rabanastre
Come on server merge! Markets are dead and I've got gil to spend! :D

4.17 PM today GMT Total online on Saronia is 529.
Seems majority of players on this server has gone P2P ^^
I'm paying to play, I'm just not playing. So that explains -1 player on Bodhum.
Now since all other regions than Japan the payment starts today so we have to see todays (Japan 1/7) totals to see how much it changed.
304 on at Palamecia, and this is a transition period. US people at work, while JPN are heading to bed.
And here I thought Wutai was pretty populated...
I am failing as a entertainer D:
Yeah cause every MMO needs to have same population as WoW right? Along with its utterly unpleasent community. Tony. Go to wow and have fun there, you obviously dont like XIV so why bother posting here?
I left WoW, and i do not post on Blizzards forums anymore or any other WOW related forums for that matter. Im over that game, why cant you do the same?
So why bring up that XIV has less subscribers then WoW? Why does the amount matter at all as long as the players enjoy their time on the game?
Because I was asked if my statement about 30-40k players being "HUGE" was serious. So I used the largest player base in the MMO world to compare it to.
How bout this I will compare it to FFXI.
Heck yeah I was serious 30,000-40,000 is only about one seventh the population of SEs 9 year old slowly dying MMO!
