The Miqo'te being cat-like is to fulfill the niche of a "furry" race, and the characters appear more nubile than the "human" race.

Technically speaking, we have two and a half tall options (Elezen, Roe, male Au Ra), two animal/monster options (Miqo'te and Au Ra), two big and tough options (Roe and Highlander Hyur), and two regular build options (Miqo'te, female Au Ra, and Midlander Hyur), if you take into account the overlap.

We only have one cute or short race, the Lalafell. So, that seems the most logical option to go if SE chooses to add more in a future expansion is to add to either or both of these options.

Whether that's the Moe style Viera looking race, an adaptation of dwarves, lilties, or something new. Lalafell are really popular in all regions, but fairies are simply not right for their alternative.

I'm not opposed, but I would need a serious solution to how glamour would work on a tiny fairy, and if the solution is to make the fairy bigger, i think that kills the point of having a fairy in the first place.

It's an interesting idea. After all, we only have one small race to choose.

However, it would require a tremendous amount of work to adapt all of the existing gear for them to wear. Unless, of course, the devs take the route that gear are invisible on fairies, with the exception of certain gear especially made for them.

Let's see... they would be need to be less luminous than Eos or Selene so you could make out their character model better. The race could be androgynous like lalafell, meaning the male & female bodies would share the same model. There would need to be different hairstyles for boys and girls; as well as, different facial options. Yes, I can see this working. I'd like to see fairie added to the game.

A trait of the cute and small viera inspired concept was that they had a pear shaped body, which would've possibly meant that that could that they could barrow the gear models made for Lalafellian characters, shrinking this daunting task.

It's a bummer to realize the further into the game we get, the less likely we are to get a new race...

As much as I'm for more smaller races, I think fairies are best left to Nymian/Scholar lore, where future storylines for that job could involve more detail for them.

Also don't think we need another "cute" shorter race since Lalafell already takes that position, nor do we need a shorter race as small as Lalafell either.

FF12 =/= FFXIV..

There is no lore in XIV currently because there is no bunny race in XIV yet.

You think all cat races in XIV have the same lore?
Or mini/dwarf sized races?
Or even humes?

They are different universes.

I prefer for SE to expand customization for current races than add new ones. I'd especially be against any all female or all male race. A genderless and androgynous race that appears as neither gender would be fine by me, but I don't think fairies would fit into that. Most people seem to see fairies as being all or almost entirely female. Besides that, we already have the scholar fairies.

Personally, I'd like to see the addition of Dwarf (which has been a Final Fantasy staple since the first game! Lali-ho!). Between Lalafell and (possibly) female Au Ra in height. Viera would be nice, I suppose, but only because it's Final Fantasy's version of the "Pandaren".

*Elves. They're the other elves of Final Fantasy (tall, beautiful, prefer to be amongst their own race, forest people, other elf stereotypes). Pandaren of Final Fantasy would be beast-like races, like Ronso, Burmecians, Lupin, other bestial mammal race.

Can you imagine a Warrior Fairy using Onslaught? That would be hilarious.

And Miqo'te already took the position of sexy waifu race, and yet we still got the female Au Ra anyway. In fact we got them the way they are exactly because the Miqo were so popular.

In other words I'd be up for another small race. It'd be cool.

But we dont even know how they will make the Viera in the end and even the concept art still did look far away from something truly beastly. Also if we can compare the Panda race with a Viera then surely we already have the dwarfs in our game, since Lalas are the small people.

I think Lalafell being a, I guess, "moe-fied" version of Tarutaru kinda puts them in a weird spot when you compare them to Dwarves. I think Tarutaru fit that comparison much better, though the After Years versions of Dwarves look very Lala-like.

Although I'm of the crowd that would be happy if Viera happened to FFXIV, this thread makes me wish the Crystal Chronical races were more popular and better suited for FFXIV over the Ivalician based ones.
