To be fair, the Dragon Quest X event only used one monster (in three flavours) from the Dragon Quest series (fun fact, Yoshi-P was one of the designers or something for that MMO), while the NPC's were all FFXIV races. It worked with FFXIV's lore.

Why do people like that trash show??? Like if you want to watch a current MMO anime at LEAST watch Log Horizon. I mean they both suck but at least that one isn't as bad as SAO.
Please no. None of that entry-tier anime garbage.
Besides, creating cross-overs is difficult from a financial/legal point of view. Takes a loooong time to make happen so I doubt they would waste all that work on some trash anime.
If I was a developer, I'd make the cross over just to spite the whiney vocal minority. Some of you get offended by the smallest things.
Ewww, SAO. The anime equivalent to lighting a dumpster on fire and calling it modern art. The show has literally nothing of substance going for it and is only popular because it has the most Gary Stu-ass-Gary Stu with a plethora of generic waifus whose sole purpose in life is so slobber all over his d***.
So what I'm trying to say is that I would rather have no crossover than an SAO crossover.
Ugh, please no. That dumpster fire of a anime needs to just stop existing. Please keep it out of FFXIV. The last thing we need is more edgelords in FFXIV, Dark Knight is enough.
It gets hate because its a terrible series, I'm not sure where you're confused. People who's anime repertoire primarily consists of Naruto/Fairytail praise it like it's some masterpiece and the second coming of christ. Terrible cringey characters of every popular cliche imaginable on a premise equally as bad. It just needs to get buried with all of the terrible isekai series that are popping out of the woodwork because of SAOs popularity.
Never really cared for cross-overs. No thanks.
Realistically, unless it was for some sort of cross-promotion, a crossover isn't likely to happen (though as a MCH main, I see the marketing potential with the SAO: Fatal Bullet title coming soon, but one job/aesthetic doesn't warrant a crossover event).
That said, I do find it rather odd that people who dislike SAO feel a burning desire to broadcast that fact as loud and rudely as possible, while those who do tend to just be rather chill and nonchalant about it. There's also that rather hilarious psychological quirk where anything that becomes popular generally has an almost equally large group of people who hate it. But that's none of my business though. . .
Personally I loved the SAO setting but the story ended when the death game ended. Everything afterwards I don't consider to be SAO. That's why I like the "Progressive" series much better and just can't get myself to keep on reading after about the 15th book. So I'm neutral on this topic. Actually, I think I'm not big on any cross-overs. I guess I like a game to keep its world view intact, and just don't feel those cross-overs to fit well.
Also, I hope people would have the basic decency to realize that voicing disagreement doesn't have to include shit-talking about what other people like.
Why would you want Harem Simulator Online anywhere near FFXIV?
Aren't there enough RP guilds for that in-game already?
Speaking of events...is the Final Fantasy XV one vaporware? The last time it was mentioned was ages ago.
And this do I embark on my greatest challenge yet; surviving the repurcussions of the following sentences.
I love Sword Art Online and would relish a crossover event. I thought the fights were very well done, the characters like-able and the plot well told. I have watched the entire series multiple times and should anyone wish to hate on me now because it's trendy to hate on a show I like, well.... I don't care :D go scream into that uncaring void for a bit if you must.
Or, and I'm just gonna throw this out there, maaaaybe some people genuinely don't like the show? Despite what some people like to believe, some of us can make up our minds without Youtubers (I assume this is where the trend you speak of comes from?) telling us what to think.
Nope and nope sao cheep nock off of .hack nope nope nope
yeeeeeeeeeeeeees! we need SAO outfits in FFXIV <3 I would literally kiss Yoshi P's shoes to get this!
No.
Just no.
You could play a sword art game.
I hate collabs because all it does is bring out the unoriginal kids who want to play dress up in the game as characters from other media. We dont 10000 new kiritos and we certainly dont need more pervy trash playing as B2
I'd like a RuneScape crossover first.
If you like it, that's cool, enjoy whatever you want. But please don't imply that everyone who doesn't is just mindlessly repeating a meme and not their own opinion.
I watched the first two series and about 1/3rd of the gun story arc and as much as I tried to like it, I couldn't. The first part of the first series was good enough that I kept watching it even after it got pants-on-head-stupid (in my opinion, to each their own) in the remote hope that it might get back on track. I know that the hero is supposed to be powerful and a ladies' man and I can forgive it up to a point, but SAO took it to ridiculous heights by making every female Kirito comes in contact with (including his blood relatives and adults 2-3 times his age) fall instantly in love with him. In all honesty, the latter half of the second one was so sickening and hard to watch I nearly couldn't finish it, and only went on to the third in an effort to give the series one last chance. Once it became clear it was just was just a different verse of the same song, I gave up entirely.
