In all fairness to the op...when I first heard about FFXIV, I was sold on it being a game that could be solo'd. Which meant, I didn't have to go through the anguish I did in XI to set up a party. My husband and I could play just the two of us...I kind of feel like I was baited and switched on. The game is not only taking a turn toward party play, which I'm am cool with, this IS an MMO.

However, considering that I sunk a lot of money into a new rig, so my husband and I could play with just us, I was expecting SE to follow through on the way that this game was sold to me, meaning I could still do content without being required to join an ls, to block out time, to compete for NM's/coffers/etc. (Also, for me being able to duo just the two of us, I am so content with having a very low % drop rate in exchange for being able to do battles with just me and my husband so I can see different aspects of this game).

The thing is the community as a whole did want change and such, and it's obvious that has occured and will occur...just can be frustrating from a financial pov and consumer pov on what you were originally sold on. Perhaps that is how the op feels and he obviously has a hard time putting that into word? I will say, his post did make me LAWL pretty hard.

I can tell you right now that enlistment requirements are low. I have a relative who is a complete tool and idiot, but I guess cause he is physically fit and has great vision...they took him...

In regards to your original post, I apologize that your experiences in-game (and now forums should you return) have been unpleasant. I think that SE did design this game to allow for casual and solo players to play. But because these players are not working with others, it will take longer to get the same rewards.

It's like being in the kitchen after a big party and I have to clean all the dishes and rooms alone. It's going to take me longer, than if I rally up some of the guests (hehehe!) to help me clean up quicker. It takes a little bit of everyone's time, but the end goal is achieved a lot faster.

And there's some things we can't do alone in-game true. I can't move that tredmill, the big sofa, or that 21" CRT monitor upstairs alone. I need to lure some strong strapping young lads over with popsicles from my cellar to lift these things.

I think grouping up / partying will be something that you come across in MMO games in general. I know that there are some interesting things to do in an MMO, but in order to take advantage of all this game or other MMOs have to offer, one should consider the multi-player parts of the game too. Whether you take lead or if you have to swallow some pride to follow others if pride is a concern.

Anyhew! You have a happy holiday too! Hope you do decide to give FFXIV another chance and/or find fun in any other game you decide to play!

Just one thing, every mission is solo-able except for the ones that require a group which are the dungeon quests but those are optional.

im not sure but i did the exact thing he described before as a joke. I was running on my choc and saw a guy stop and just stand in the middle of the desert so i assumed he was afk. i understand where you are coming from. i also believe a mmo should be played with a group.

the problem is where do we get off making fun of others that are upset the game was advertised as being solo friendly and being able to play solo or group and then turning around and taking that away from them? if i had gotten the game to solo, since that's what it was advertised as, i would be upset as well if they made it to where you were forced to group up.

i got the game to play with groups of people. if i had wanted to solo i would have just played the next rpg to come out, but this game was advertised as being solo friendly so i can't pick on someone that got the game to solo because it was advertised as such a game and then had that taken away.

i may not agree with them playing a mmo to solo, but i can't dispute the fact the game was advertised as such a game and it no longer is.
