Bards cant hear their own songs or voice?

Why can we not simply have things as they are plus the crit buff and DH. Why on earth do the songs need to have negative effects as a trade off? Where has that ever been implied? No having them won't cause too much of a DPS gain to require nerfs elsewhere.

According to Yoshida, apparently. Much to the chagrin of many Dragoons.

Putting that aside, there is different types of support. Dragoon is passive; it buffs itself while buffing the party and is thus classified as a melee with raid utility. Ninja or Bard have more directly impacted the raid with enmity control, MP/TP management, crit buffs and etc. Hence why they're considered melee support and ranged support, respectively.

I'm confused? BRDs don't get ANY effects from themselves from their songs? Mage's Ballad totally doesnt give you bloodletter procs. Army's Paeon doesn't give you a haste buff. Wanderer's Minuet? yeah, just a crit buff... doesn't give you access to any new abilities, that would be silly.

You sing, and these effects happen. BRDs buff themselves.


Even going back to 3.X, The BRD themselves got the refresh from their songs.


Just because it's not a crit bonus doesnt mean you don't get personal effects for singing. It's not like BRD doesnt even have a crit buff. Did SE gut Straight shot without me realizing it?

During a trial today multiple times my army's paeon just cancelled on me, mid song. The song gauge was gone as well.

I kind of get it. Thematically, you don't get hyped up from yourself do you? Even Monks have the same concept with Brotherhood.

As a bard, you're a living font of inspiration. You can inspire yourself to no further heights, but you can inspire edgelord DRK and emo MNK and even NeverhealzWHM to even greater heights previously only dreamed of! Sadly, you can't inspire yourself to greater heights, for you are already at the limit of said inspiration.
