Only to be forced to wear that horrible Darklight robe for weeks following because we didn't have glamour prisms at launch while you got the tomes for AF2

There are so many pieces that shouldnt be job locked. Honestly other than af gear nothing else should be locked (for glamour)
The new restrictions for white DoH/DoL gear in SB pisses me off. The gear got some neat designs and changes from existing one but... we cannot use it for glam. Instead of more options we get less.
I already have six retainers and I'm still entirely out of space. I was so excited for expanded inventory but most of that expanded inventory is already dedicated to accessories :T
I could get behind this. Why didn't Square bring the same system over for FFXIV (besides 'spaghetti code')?Quote:

Originally the devs said they didn't want everyone to be able to glamor everything because it would cause confusion over what role you were. Then they release stuff like the giant pig suit, that any job can use as a glamor....
That's because the devs like to make assumptions about the playerbase when it comes to QoL additions.
Can you imagine how far this game would go if they decided to speak to us lowly mortals first, then take action?
The restrictions are even weirder when you consider that theres event gear that is straight up heavy armor that all jobs can wear and other more armored looking sets magic users can use.
Healer in legacy warrior armor and a tank in robes. Its okay when SE does it but we are not allowed to mix and match ourselves.
Do wish they would ease up on the glamour. Sure Artifact gear, keep it to that one class but let us glamour whatever else we want. A Tank in a Bikini makes as much since as a Tincan Blackmage.
I can't agree more, Glamour restrictions should be gone.
The main reason Square places these limits is to avoid confusing players. So, considering this, I recommend:
* Keep the exclusive class/job restrictions. This means a gear made only for BLM can only be glamoured by BLM. This respects Square desire to avoid confusing players.
* Remove any restrictions to glamour gear from other Disciples or role. Allow BLM to glamour Disciples of War gear, or gear made for PLD WAR DRK, for example.
also, they need to make it when you glamour you just have to pay Gil, I'm sick of having to go to the market and buy glamour prisms or finding out I don't have enough of them.
Please no, don't give them the idea to remove glamour prisms, it's one of the few things crafters can sell no matter what patch it is, cause people will always use them. Nor are they very expensive either.
I find the best solution would be to make the system work like in XI, so as long as your charachter can use the item on some class, you can glamour it. This would also give SE the sidebenefit of people spending more time and subbing for longer to lvl up more classes. I know that there's a couple of classes I would lvl to 70 just to be able to use their gear for glamours on other classes.
don't you dare take away those prisms.
At this point it's probably pretty easy to level yourself up to make prisms your dang self, honestly.
With all the particle effects flying about, is anyone really paying attention to what others are wearing?
In terms of lore though, once our character has earned their WHM AF it makes no sense that they cannot continue to wear it while fishing, dancing at Gold Saucer or waving a sword around. They're still the same character; that's the theme of the game's job system. If people can cope with a gigantic metallic red pigman punching enemies as a Monk, I think they can cope with a really angry career WHM punching enemies as a Monk too.
I dont get why males can't wear bunny ears thoug. Again a Pegi12 thing or whatttttt.
Officialy ? Lore
I still think it's both denial that the idea was bad from the start and laziness
I say as long as you have the job or class leveled the required gear level, ex.) say I am a monk but want to use level 45 bard gear as a glam... well you need to have bard and monk to level 45. The party list tells you who are what jobs.
Lore wise it would make sense if we could glamour anything, since glamour is just an illusion.
WHM AF1 in 1.0 was even more exclusive as I understand it - there, the Healer's Robe was literally one-of-a-kind that only the player was allowed to wear (if I remember rightly it was actually an elemental who had literally changed it's form into the robe). Needless to say this was altered for ARR, but the Healer's Robe is still stated as being unique, as it was blessed vestments worn by A-Towa Cant.
Inside a dungeon run or raid, I pay little or no attention to the physical appearance of my party. Don't have time; don't care. I figure the person charging the trash mob is either the tank; or thinks they're the tank; or they're a typical insane lalafel black mage; it's all good any way they dice it.
So. I also don't buy the argument "letting people glamour from other class sets will confuse people" argument.
If there's someone in AF1 White Mage gear throwing Bootshines from melee range, hey, it is what it is. Go go Power Magers!
Well if its bound by character then we should be able to wear it whenever we want? I mean if in lore the WoL is a summoner but wants to get better at punching people they would not forget that they are a mage too. And if I am back to being a mage I would not forget how to punch people. And one can punch someone even while wearing only a bikini.
AF gear should be just that, AF gear. Not fancy dress for other jobs.
Anything else, I don't really care about.
