That statement is rubbish.
So you blame crafters to make money on the back of players ? In a way you're right, there are a lot of crafters that control the economy of their worlds but it's not the topic, crafters pay for materials, craft and sell their items. That's the basic gameplay loop.
You can't ask people money to help them. I never understood all those teams to clear content.
Here it's even worse you're using the current servers issue to get some more money... well whatever.
As I see some people selling items to a cheap price to get rid off those griddy crafters, I hope there will be some players helping people for free just to stop people like you.
I don't see the problem with tanks offering to sell faster queues. If someone's willing to pay for it more power to the both of them.
After sitting in an ex roulette queue for over an hour tonight, even I'd be willing to consider paying a tank. I just want to be able to actually play the job I enjoy playing. If I have to pay for it.. so be it.
Returning tank on Siren(Aether Data Center) here. My drk, war, and pld are 62, 61, and 60 respectively. I be happy to run with anyone for no charge. However, since I just returned, havent played since 3.3, only doing small to medium size pulls till comfortable again. Also, I do not have expert rolutte unlocked yet so cannot help there.
The problem is as a tank main Im always willing to tank for someone any dungeon all the time but I dont exactly receive the same treatment in return. I even had the idea of traded runs I tank one friend tanks the next but also alot of tanks may have only leveled their tanks in potd its just more complicated than Id like but it is what it is.
Let's not, because of the people claiming that 2 of the 3 tank jobs being ruined is ok, you all get to suffer.
Enjoy!
as much as I'd like to agree to that suggestion i just cant, theres a lot of tanks i noticed before stormblood came out who are just....... crap, wouldnt surprise me if they didnt learn it off of others too. If they have previous experience and can tank properly it would be great but otherwise it might be more of a hindrance.
Ugh, I have the same problem.
I like to run dungeons and trials a lot and I like to help, but it's so frustrating when I run 10 dungeons a day to help people with their DPS jobs or their alts, but when I need help with something they go all Mariah Carey on me. xD
But anyways, if somebody needs a 310 healer in Hyperion, let me know and I'll be happy to help... if a little bit bitter when the inevitable betrayal happens and you refuse to help me in return. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, if you're in the same data centre, we may find a way to coordinate something so we can run together through the PF. :)
My friend, you're in Hyperion!
I get online every day after 8:00 p.m. CDT. Sendt me a tell or a friend request and I'll be happy to help with dungeons or roulettes!
I only level tanks. Once I a done with MSQ on WAR and I have farmed that job up to keep pace wit the next story patch and upcoming content, I'll be right back in the DF queue with my PLD and DRK. I always queue random after I check with FC to see if anyone needs a tank for speedy queues.
I like tanking in dungeons, and I am long past the point where one or two bad teammates in a DF will bother me even a little. If I get "helper" DPS doing pulls, stealing enmity, etc...I don't much sweat it, especially since SB decided to stealth nerf tanking under the guise of shifting the HW speed run paradigm to something more traditional.
But I'll be in the queue. No worries.
I'm a low level PLD and the community is great. Using macro for asking bosses or dungeon advices and have a very positive experience. I have no FC, Duty finder is my home. Pretty good way to learn the job. Thanks to all the HL players who helped me.
If you are leveling through ARR and HW content on Moogle server. Add me to your friendlist. (^◇^)/
I find it really funny that people are charging to get DPS through queues. I've always mained DPS and I've never seen queues this bad. The past few days I've waited 45+ min just for my expert alone. I think it was Sunday I waited an hour. It seems it's only getting worse too with more people hitting 70 now. I'm actually leveling AST now because the queues are so bad lol.
I think the queues will eventually stabalize to where they were. People may have taken up RDM and SAM, but most of those who did were mostly likely already DPS. It's the increased amount of players that impacting the queue more than the new jobs, imo (though I'm sure some came back just for the jobs).
I started leveling Paladin, then remebered how much I dislike tanking. So I started leveling AST, then I remembered how much I dislike healing. XD
So I've just been watching re-runs of Game of Thrones on my second monitor while I wait in queue. I can usually get through an entire episode and half of a second one before my queue pops. Lol
Unfortunately until a few hard-pressing issues are resolved with tanks, they have quintessentially become a niche occupation not unlike crafters. So it's not unheard of to think they will ply their trade for profit, especially those in a position similar to Tankstuff where they've got not much else to gain running content atm.
Why am I supposed to give a shit about DPS queues? It's a problem MMO developers and communities create for themselves. I don't feel sorry for anyone.
It's ALWAYS been like this, sometimes better sometimes worse, but if you played DPS since the start of the game, you already know to expect those times, especially with 2 new popular DPS classes in the game.
Simply do other stuff while waiting for the duty to pop, go lvl a crafting/gathering class, play some Triple Triad, lvl another job, do side-quest/beast tribe-quests, idk, the game offers you a lot of stuff to do while waiting for a duty to pop. I give props to the OP for trying to ease the problem. People seem to be so impatient nowdays.
Waiting an hour (oftentimes more) for a queue is ridiculous and unacceptable, though. Half an hour? Okay, sure. I'll wait. I won't like it, but I'll still wait. Forty-five minutes? Alright, that's pushing it. But an hour? Come on. The Devs knew what they were doing by introducing not one, but TWO DPS classes for a new expac (and nothing else) and then try to butter us up by saying that they're FIXING tank and healer classes so that more people play them. And well... we all know what shitstorm that became.
At times, I was lucky enough to have friends to queue up with who were tanks and healers and I got MNK to 70. I will be leveling PLD next so once I'm comfortable with the tank changes (despite some people not liking them, I will keep with it) I too will offer my services. FOR FREE. (Because I have a conscience.)
In the end, the Devs have got to do something about this queue-time balance. I hope they share my sentiments that waiting an hour or more for a queue to pop, regardless of what class you are, is unacceptable. But I'm honestly not holding my breath.
While I completely support the OP's initiative, I think this is a problem the devs need to fix. I play PLD and enjoy my insta-ques but it's really crappy if people are waiting 30-60 mins to play 20 minutes of content. A better "Adventurer in need" bonus is probably an easy way to fix the problem. Someone make a thread about that.
I play healer as my main and tank regularly on the side, and I have been hitting up PF groups for my dailies to help DPS, but I'm mostly with my FC while they are leveling.
It is fun for me either way, but I'm trying to help with the hump the best I can.
honestly, I think what would help the ques is have an incentive for healers and tanks to que. Right now tanks get extra XP and after 300 runs a mount. If healers got the same treatment I'm sure the que times for dps would go down. Thats assuming the mounts are cool XD
Well you know what they say. A fool and his wallet are easily parted.
You're nuts if you think I'm going to pay that kind of price to get a dungeon done
i have been tanking since 1.2 and started a new account, and people being in a hurry, sometimes doesn't even send a commendation my way.
My char on Cactuar already have 100+ in one month, My new char in Zalera barely have 23 and i´m already lv50 pal.
My legacy account only played 3 months of 2.0 and had 400+ on that one .
Something dies inside of me when i see we had a smooth run and everyone laves in a hurry
My new main is Red Mage...though I should say it's my old main since I couldn't be on it in this game until now and I'm back on it, was first to 70 and I was teaming up with a friend who got Warrior up for it. Now it's my turn to bring Dark Knight up to help with his Machinist.
I've been healing in MMOs since the launch of WoW and even I dont want to heal at the moment. Only AST made it through in a passable fashion and thats ONLY because they were barely touched. Not a good look when DPS classes are seeing total revamps and the two new DPS classes are amazingly polished.
Want people to heal and tank? Don't make healers and tanks boring or clunky.
Also, this expansion should have been the start of hybrids and support roles. I dunno why they doubled down and went with only single, pure roles per class. Red Mage is well made but it absolutely should be able to swap to a healing role outside of combat. It's a Red Mage, for crying out loud.
Well SOMEONE has to que with the folks who waited 20 minutes to get in.
First off, I don't see anything wrong with people charging for fast queue times. if peeps want to do it, it's their playtime. And it's not like they're controlling a market here, or shutting people off from life critical services.
Secondly, I think the OP is a great idea. what I don't get is why people are coming in here and sidetracking the thread with the whole ethical argument, or even with comments like "I'll never do that!" fine. don't do it. And don't fill this thread up with useless comments. move along. let people who want to donate their time do so without having to wade through comments not related to the original post.
He didn't ask people if they think it's OK...he asked people to list themselves here if they were willing to donate their time. if you don't want to, that's fine. move along, you obviously don't need to be here.
The super simplified most tanks/healers while also removing much of the reward for performing well and multitasking, not to mention the balance issue. Yoshi is right that adding new tanks and healers doesn't necessarily create more in the end, but I feel they didn't take into consideration that they could drive them AWAY still. If they aren't going to allow us to effectively weave dps and it mean something, they need to do something else, some kind of reward for us to excel with. DPS well.... dps harder, get big numbers, stuff dies faster. If tank and healers both excel...they are bored more. They did almost nothing to make them more engaging or rewarding, in fact leaving many of us to feel weaker.
I am 314 WHM, I don't expect to be rocking DPS numbers but... its miserable doing anything outside of group content with this piteous damage, getting 24 ilv since hitting 70 had basically no effect on that.
I am going to level most classes, I am on the last healer and given the situation will likely do tanks next, dungeon grinding like my healers. Its efficient for me, and helps the queues along. Hopefully they can sort this out for real though...
Again - Healing and tanking requires a special mindset, the willingness to give yourself for the team instead of doing constant big numbers, being on the mercy of the DPS, and the readiness face criticism when you don't perform well.
You can throw in new Tank and Healer classes left and right if you will, in the end roulettes will still give out the 'Adventurer in need' bonus to either of them 95% of the time once the 'new' shine has worn off.
Those roles aren't for everyone, while DPS can be played by anyone without bigger punishment other than longer dungeon clears.
There's a reason why healers/tanks/supports in nearly every mmo, moba and competetive pvp game are the least played class/role.
I read this thread and spent an hour and change riding around Mateus, offering fast queues to anyone who wanted in. The whole experience was mildly embarassing, and I feel bad about having bothered strangers. You'd seriously do more good just helping out people in your FC; no one likes talking to random samaritans.
