Combos are nice, animations are completely lame. Not sure why we cant have both be nice...
I distinctly remember them saying "We are going to recycle old animations for 1.20 when possible. Newer animations will be coming in 1.21."

When I first saw fire being casted, I was like... COOL they made it where fire=red bubble effect, then I saw blizzard and was expecting a blue bubble effect, nope I got was red... was very disappoint in that. I hope they make it where, what element you are using the corresponding color will be used. I also hope they change the casting animation for each class. instead of having the hand up towards the mouth.
Whats the point of recycling the animations (LETS REMOVE SOME VISUAL EFFECTS YAY!) if they could just leave them as they were and just implement the newer ones in 1.21?
Seems some people forgot that the key point of all this is for people to WHINE so changes COME and the game IMPROVES.
But...it was already stated animations are being revamped (ever since interviews in March of this year it's been stated), so I don't see what changes would improve the game, especially after SE already laid out how they plan to improve the game (which they also stated they've been working on a new client and server infrastructure for quite some time now.)
Venting is fine, but in regards to this it's already been established they'll be introducing revamped animations in 1.21.
Like i said before its probably because they are changing them, and are setting themselves up for later, they are moving the non throw away animations where they want them to be. and putting the throw away ones as default for the skills. Its slightly more effecient use of time, because instead of having to redo all the animations again when they add the animations, they just have to remove the deafault ones.
or it could just be a bug that got through testing, i guess time will tell
As long as Chaos Thrust stays the same, I'll live. Which it did, so I am happy.
I suppose I was sort of sad to see Doomspike's old animaton go, but I know they said the animations are mostly being recycled / are temporary, so it's fine. Truth be told, what threw me off the most is that Doomspike is now "Doom Spike".

Then maybe thats when they should have chosen to start charging. Not disagreeing with what you say here at all, its spot on. Just that it seems to many of that this was the wrong patch to follow up with billing. Part of me wants to believe that the week after billing they announce the date for the 1.21 patch, but given thier track record with patches, I think thats a total pipe dream.
This is real~! the animation need some serious work. I suggest SE take a look on FFXI ws and skill and hope they get a better idea for their skill visual and effects/ animation. its so colorful and crappy. all the buffs are the same with different color. The only thing i enjoyed from patch is the new quest story line. all the skills just need live up to names. if u know what i mean. Am done playing. so not motivated anymore.
They actually said that special effects would be re-used wherever possible, and they will begin getting replaced by new effects starting from 1.21, they're not permanent, just placeholders.
i might be wrong or my download might be off, but did they change the animation for pummel to the same animation as a sword attack....that is what is see when i do it, am i the only one and if not...that attack doesnt make sense, i a spin attack animation for pummel...i hope they change that back
