Will we get a notice in advance on upcoming housing ward going live?

I hope they not gonna give FC a headstart over personal. Why would they discriminate players like that?

Descriminate? Do people throw this word around so much they assume it will ruffle the people who are reading the post? The goal should be to give as many people as possible a chance for a house and if more people get access to housing via the FC then as long as limited plots is an issue (which I admit is purposely caused by SE) giving the largest chunk of the population is always the best choice.

I mean if they give FC a head start or lock it for just FC. I have an FC and I know we are moving to Shiogane but I want a own house too. If it all locked to FC - there is a good chance all medium/larges will be taken by FC's.

So i'd say open it up for everyone. Everyone have same chances to get it regardless you buy personal or FC

I find the very concept of personal housing rather useless with the current housing system. Everyone wants their own house so it can sit there unused while large groups can't even have one. Then we have people owning massive mansions on their lonesome, which is even more useless. If housing was rampant, it wouldn't matter, but here it just feels like they're denying the masses of a feature. Wards with personal housing also feel empty.

I could have bought personal housing many times over, but it's so pointless. All I need is keeping a gathering hub for my FC. Hoping we can finally upgrade to a large from a small at long last.

I think it should be Data Center, not account. The economy on Balmung is by no means the same as Ixion. I don't think it's fair to be so tightly restricted by something that isn't paid with real money. If you have a home on Chaos, it's the only one you have for Chaos. And so forth with Primal.

I have my house for decoration and gathering plots. I don't want have to rely on my FC for this as a mere member.
For people who dont use their houses, we have a 45 days demolition system for that.

The have confirmed it indirectly.
The only thing this "Transfer" does is saves the personal chambers and the airship workshop and status. It doesn't transfer ascetics or furniture. Is a FC will buy new plot and build new house and have their same Chambers and workshop only. Private houses have neither of these to my knowledge and thus transfers would be pointless, as just relinquishing your current house would do the same. This transfer doesn't save gil or anything. At least that is how things read.

Will people be able to own a second apartment in Shirogane once it opens up?

Soooo July 3rd patch overnight for 4.01. Anyone think housing could be on that one?

If it is, they would let us know. I'll be ready to buy - my medium Mist plot just got demo'd in preparation - it was funny getting 50% more gil back than the plot is currently worth, lol.

I bought a mansion "on my lonesome" and use it every day. In fact, because it's near a market board, I rarely even need to leave my house's area unless I need to turn in a quest... I let three other people use the house too, so that they don't have to buy their own. And even though my FC also has a mansion, a lot of times people gather at my house instead. There are plenty of people who utilize their personal housing very well.

Speaking of personal vs. FC housing: the NPC in Shirogane confirms that both FCs and private owners will be able to purchase houses in the area, in such a way that leads me believe there will be no delay between when FCs and individuals can purchase.

@ Darus, it is not pointless and everyone should have the chance of having personal hosing if so they choose.
Myself i have been wanting personal house since it was introduced and still could not get one.

Instanced housing should have been the way to go with Stormblood, but looks like they are using the same system which will lead to same issues again...

The trick is... would they really give us advanced warning, knowing it will crash servers...

I mean thought we upgraded servers to be able to handle all the new data. =/

I'm of the camp that Shirogane isn't yet open to allow transferred FC's keep housing privileges

No. A single character may own: One house, one apartment and one private room in an fc house.

I agree with you on that... I have a big event I am going to be at for my job in that morning till night... So yea.. they didnt even say what this 4.01 patch is about. Just that game is down long for it.

So with everyone on reddit so "sure" this is just Omega stuff.

Is everyone here willing to bet 100% that this 4.01 is just Omega patch stuff or are there some here who still think could be housing too? Just surprised no Lodestone memos at all on this...

Why tell it in advance? To crash the servers, when they can just write it down on the patch notes (like all changes) and prevent further issues with server congestion because everyone and their mother would try to log-in at once? I just wouldn't say anything ahead of time, nor I see any reason to do it. We already know that the housing area is there, and that it will open "soon". It makes sense to say the "when" once it's done.

It's not as if this is something new. They never mention specific item changes prior to the servers being down so that no one can take advantage of the economy, so I expect the same for the opening of Shirogane's flood gates.

Like they always have, they will give at least a week's notice before opening Shirogane. I'm quite surprised that some people think it will be opening tonight.

Because some of us, do not wish to "risk" the one time its NOT announced. They know on that day it will be a server flood from hell. Opening the plots when most of USA should be asleep in prep of a major holiday.. could mean lesser load to activate a ward. Hell.. what if they did staggered ward openings etc. Testing how well they work before opening all 12.

Point is, we just dont know. =/
