What the heck? Are you complaining about too much content and different ways to get extra exp and lore tidbits?...
People really do complain about any and everything...
Not to mention the fact that they are in no way mandatory, and you can just ignore them entirely or do them later at your leisure.
Side quests are optional and extra ways of getting EXP so... why would you want less. What I'd prefer is for SE to come up with a bit more variety than just fetch quest after fetch quest. Or alter those annoying quests that have you travel all the way to one side of the map, only to be greeted with one sentence then have you go all the way back.
I enjoy them (the blowgun and telescope ones were super cool) but I do wish they gave more XP
Actually i like side quests the most, I like helping the poor people farming or do the garden with them, wich u do at the beginning in Sb expansion. Its the little situations with npcs wich i appreciate, just talking to them and so on, just like it the real world. But thats me. I do get certain people hate side quests and MSQ, but do try to enjoy them, other mmos give nothing at all.
the only problem I have with the sidequests is that only 5 of them can be shown on your duty list at one time.
Person wants SE to cut back on side quests they not required to do to begin with lmao. You run out of EA salt so starting complaining about something else just to complain?
I do agree they went a little overboard with them, but at least there won't be dead spaces like in HW to reach level cap. I just click past them and get it done without even reading them. To those who say it is optional, I disagree with you when it comes to people like me who do things on order and completing each section of a grid before moving on. I have to complete each side quest in an area before I even begin thinking about continuing the main story, so they are not optional in my case. Not unless you want me to go crazy because OCD won't stop bothering me about it.
You have 15 jobs to level. That's why there's so many.
I don' think these are too bad. Nothing can ever be as bad as Moghome and all those damn Moogle quests.
There has been some pretty big(imo)lore reveals in some side quests like the one where you need to find garleans secret chemical weapon, and when you completed that you learn some interesing things about Gaius. So there are some really good side quests but there is also some not so interesing ones, i think its pretty balanced mix and even those "boring" ones are still kinda decent as those focus more on zone lore.
Did I state they should lesson it? No, I did not. In fact, I said the good thing about them is that I won't have that gap in leveling like I did in HW. I know it is my fault to bear when I get tired of them, but I was merely addressing those people who cry it is optional. Also, I can be very selfish because that is the only way to survive in this f*cked up world.
They not really crying about anything and just stating facts cause they are optional, the game doesn't make anyone do them. If person has a personal issue such as ocd then that their own mind telling them they have to do it and not the game, therefore making them optional if person wants to do them.
I want more side quests. I can't stand leveling via grinding (I'll do it when I have to) and it's a welcome thing when there are side quests to do. If anything I wish Stormblood had double or triple the amount.
I love side quests! My only disappointment with this expansion (aside from the rough rollout) is that there are fewer of them with this expansion according to SE.
I completely disagree with this post. They've done a great job with the writing of the quests this expansion. It's one thing to complain about the number of them, but I think it's unfair to say the content put out is bad simply because there is so much of it. I've actually had to take a break from side questing because there are so many of them, but I appreciate all the hard work the writers and animators put into them.
I love taking my time and going through the side quests, the world feels so alive and like an RPG when you play it that way instead of just spamming pvp to level up as fast as possible.
Not to say I don't do my share of pvp spamming as well. But I love having the choice between how I can enjoy the game, and anyone who would ask SE to not give us that choice is just too self absorbed to realize that their playstyle isn't the only playstyle out there.
NO! This is a horrible and shortsighted request to make. Honestly, what is wrong with gamers today? You hate cut scenes, skip text, ignore lore, and avoid side content like its the plague. SE has already adjusted many times for you, additional side quests and side quest chains is done to allow the main story to be streamlined, just for you, and yet you feel the need to whine about entirely optional content that others enjoy. If you don't like story and lore, why are you playing a Final Fantasy title at all?
For me the main story so far has been great, but the side quests and side quest chains have added so much extra color and life to the world and story. I'd rate both as excellent so far.
Honestly, I feel like so many things have been done to accommodate gamers with zero attention span and no care for story, character and lore, that the game is in danger of catering too much to that. The changes to the jobs and skills seem to drive in the direction of the DPS meta and more action oriented combat. A lot of players like that FFXIV has a slower pace, more measured combat, and deep and wide ranging story lines to explore. There really are not many, if any, MMORPGs out there like FFXIV, there are plenty of fast paced shallow action games that take place in sandbox worlds for those that prefer. So, please, leave Final Fantasy to do what it does best.
Side quests are entirely optional. If you don't like them, don't do them, and move on.
More Delivery Moogle Quest SE!! I miss some of the heartwarming stories it had! ;_;
I am fine with the side quests because in the 24 months before next xpac (typical development cycle), 21 of those months will be PotD/roulette/PVP/raid grinding until our eyes bleed. This is the part of the xpac cycle normally referred to as "enjoyable." Everything is new, first time, exploration, etc. Once it's gone, it's June 2019 before we see anything new...so enjoy it for all its worth I say.
No, Sidequests are great.
It adds depth, makes the game feel more alive.
