To make this kind of statement, you need evidence and statistics, which I don't see anywhere in your post. I hear it a lot, but no one ever backed it. The RP community is extremely visible on Balmung, so it's very easy to argue that they're a very relevant part of the population, relevant enough for Yoshida to publicly aknowledge it. Other than that, there is no firm data about it, so you might as well not turn your perception into false statistics in the attempt to prove a false point.

This without mentioning that the RP community is a *community* meaning that there is value in not displacing and dividing it. The roleplay playstyle is directly based on having a large and united community so that it's relatively easy to find like minded people to roleplay with. In this game, that condition exists only on Balmung, and it's in SE's best interest to preserve, protect and encourage that, as it preserves, protects and encourages subscription money from a large chunk of population (that incidentally tends to stick with the game longer, as it literally creates content for itself even in periods of drought).

Those not interested in RP aren't a specific community, but are instead a moltitude of microcommunities based on Free Companies so there is no specific value in keeping all these microcommunities on the same server.

SE is extremely wary of creating an unpleasant playing environment for any players, so they will not just slap an RP tag on an existing server. Short of doing an in game survey of that server and getting minimal or nonexistant response of 'dont make this an rp server', which will never happen on balmung, possibly on a low pop server.

A new server could easily be tagged from the start to avoid that issue, but they won't add a new server until NA population evens out.

Either way them surveying an existing low pop world, or reaching the population equality they want on NA and adding a new server, won't happen for months if not longer. They have too much to deal with with SB launch, and working on the next couple patches.

I've read a few places that the RP community is attempting to move to a less populated server to make their own unofficial server. Can anyone which one and possibly where I can get involved? I would love to join something like that.

Yet some low population server despise that. I for one play in a low population, it's quiet, everyone's is friendly and less drama. This last few weeks, Balmung folks as start popping right and left. Based on their reputation, I want them to take their stuff and go back where they came from.

I agree that it would have to involve free transfers and considerable compensation for potential lost items (housing, etc), however. And to be honest, if I had a personal house on my Balmung characters, I wouldn't transfer unless SE could guarantee me a house on the new server.

I've played tons of MMOs with RP-designated servers, and this simply does NOT happen. No one is considered an "outcast", and the RP community actually welcomes non-rpers for the most part, because it helps round out the community. RPers also like to do content, after all.

Simply put, Yoshi is flat out wrong.

here is my thought on the matter. there are a ton of people on Balmung. It is a legacy server. we have an influx of people because all the 1.0 players that never came back, likely just came back. you have the RP community and you have the legacy players that came to this server when our original servers were deemed Japanese. Was funny. logged into Ridill the other night and only 28 players online. This was when the world servers went offline Tuesday night.

I think the biggest issue that has prevented anyone from leaving is Free Company Housing. Until we can transfer Free Companies to other servers, It will be hard to get anyone to move from Balmung.
