I don't think there has -ever- been a time when this game had an Early Access/launch and it actually went smoothly. I understand the grief and disappointment but there's nothing to be done but wait unfortunately.

I enjoyed my day off lol I slept a lot and I feel completely okay with taking the time off for a video game, no shame...
this was very disappointing. Im a little lost as to how this is early access. i feel like we should be reimbursed honestly.
We didn't pay for the access it was a free perk for early purchase. It sucks that there's so much congestion , but it sucks even worse that someone is actively trying to make people feel bad for being upset.
Took PTO prior to the 16th (Mon-Thursday), thought I was going to regret it, boy was I wrong :P
My husband and I are definitely feeling it. He took four days off to play early access. It's been nearly 19 hours since we logged in and encountered this issue. We're approaching the time when Cactuar will be most dead and know if he still can't get in and do the instance, there will be literally nothing to do. He only plays 1 job, 1 character, no crafting, no gathering.
We were prepared for long queues into the server. He were prepared for crashing and lagging.
We were not prepared for a full stop on the main story quest.
XD and I didn't take the day off because i knew something would happen because it always does day one for ff14 big patch.
This.
Every major release will come with queues and problems. Yes, even the vaulted "Legion" did, but their marketing team covered it up nicely by disguising it as a beta.
You will spend a lot of time waiting on day 1 of any major MMO release, so it's never a good idea to take the day off.
I said it was frustrating, not that is wasn't worth it lol. I 100% enjoyed my day off, getting to sleep in, wearing pajamas. Still getting paid for the day. Got lots of puppy kisses from my dog. My worst problem of the day is that the game I wanted to play had a lot of downtime, when usually my problems consist of staff issues at work, or our invoicing program shatting out. And I'm on balmung, quite possibly the most aggravating world to be on right now. So... still a good idea in my book, and I'd do it again :^)
That's great. I'm glad you were able to still enjoy your day off even with the game issues.
My comment was more directed at people who are bitter because they took day 1 off and the game had issues so they do nothing but complain about it. Not people like yourself, fortunately.
I hate SE at this point, LET US THROUGH
I took the day off and I definitely didn't waste my time. I enjoyed swimming, I explored the new map with a friend, took tons of screenshots (my favourite thing), and used the chance to also level my alt to unlock Red Mage. The main quest being bugged didn't stop me from having a great time, as there were many appealing things for me to do. I'm sorry if you can't see anything outside a main quest you want to rush.
I didn't even take the day off, it was my day off and the first time I've been at the beginning of an expansion in this MMO in particular. Ive heard the horror stories before, but i didn't expect to be stuck at one quest so early in the day haha. I unlocked RDM and SAM, but didn't want to use up my blue bar leveling those instead and just kinda hung out elsewhere while checking the quest every couple of hours. Suppose if its still a mess after work, I'll probably level RDM or BTN.
This.
And to those spamming the MSQ instance, you're part of the problem. It's like punching yourself in the face repeatedly and then complaining about it.
Or be smart and do something else until the craze has died down. I was perfectly able to do it 4 hours ago when I woke up.
Took the day off to get RDM to 60 and got RDM to 60, so I'm pretty happy.
