Best Served with Cold Steel still not working

It's precisely because they already have our money; have taken our cash; and utterly failed to provide a working service in terms of the story line that has riled people; add to the the lack of response in terms of it's an issue they are looking to fix or even acknowledge exists. I think we all expect some early access down-time; emergency patches as it's effectively beta at this point; but to be so broken is shameless

I've been up since launch and have been blazing through story only to be stuck here. Additionally SE/FFXIV team i took a week vacation that i planned since it was announced at a fan fest to play your game - if it cant be fixed easily please at least give a update to the problem. If this is the case that its something we have to deal with it would of been better if you actually delayed the expansion all together...

LOL - but not really - I get you though; better playing something the appears to work than something that clearly doesn't... It's the lack of proper acknowledgement and acceptance that's the most frustrating.

If you want me to RNG in the MSQ for entry to a quest for 6-12 hours then I'm out!

Please SE. Fix this. Can you hire people with real skills on setting up servers?

3. Be booted back to zone with error "A system error occurred during event movement."

The instanced battle is still not coming up. Occasionally several people get bad connection status, ocassionally it will remain a black screen for about 5 minutes before canceling the instance. Loggging in could start good but the game will make it as if you had a poor connecion after kicking you from the server.

I laughed pretty hard at where the list ended:

DCed while being in said line and had around 20 people before left. Its been only like 3 hours in it. Square Enix is becoming like Ubisoft at making games.

There are still plenty of great things to experience with Stormblood. Try out a new Job that you haven't before or Red Mage and Samurai. Start leveling craters and gatherers. FATE grind etc. Heck , even the old Anmia weapons quests go another nerf that I don't think was listed on the patch notes, so if you were close right before today, it wouldn't be a bad investment in time because you'll probably get to skip a step or two when Eureka comes out. Just be patient. From what I've seen, Stormblood has tons of great stuff ahead!

It's facking day 1 EARLY ACCESS, they are working on it so when the expansion actually releases, this stuff won't be a problem anymore, but instead of constructive feedback a ton of ppl like you prefer to bitch instead of do anything else while the quest is being fixed... go back to wow please, the whiners live there.

Failure at delivering proper content we paid (and will be paying for) shouldnt be acceptable. Also we suppose to wait for people to stop putting servers at heavy load and then try. Everyone bottleneck and same thing. This wont go away easily. Not to mention early access is not Beta release.

See, I wouldn't be so mad I'd SE bothered to just say "We're working on figuring out what the problem is, till then please patient". But we haven't got anything other than "It's working as intended". The hell it is working as intended! Thousands of people barred from doing MSQ junk because of a single quest. Just an update would be nice. Please.

Been playing this game month after release and its not the first time they failed. Heavensward didnt had that problem. Only problem was server overloaded and location back in Canada. Also, I pay for said product my hard earn money and can be not satisfied with product if its not working properly. This isnt free to play or onetime payment. On 20th even more people will be joining. You can save them by all means, but there are people who arent satisfied with simple problem blocking whole playthru.

I would like to explain the current congestion issue regarding instanced battle content, including the Stormblood main scenario quest “Best Served with Cold Steel,” due to the Duty Finder crashes at the start of early access.

As announced earlier, there are a huge number of players currently playing Stormblood, and as a result, the servers continue to experience a large amount of stress. For this reason, we are currently limiting the number of players that can enter instanced content so that it does not lead to major server crashes.

However, this has caused massive congestion to enter instanced content and I would like to sincerely apologize for this.

If you are unable to enter instanced battle content, we ask you to please wait and try again at a later time. We understand that this unfairly places the burden on our players, but we require more time until the issue can be resolved. We continue to work on measures to address this issue and will follow up once we have an update.

Again, we sincerely apologize for this level of congestion occurring during early access when many of our players are the most excited to play.

Everyone on the team will continue to put in our full effort to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience, and I would like to thank you for your continued support.

Another "We know it, we figured it out, but we have to let it play along by itself". It is their second expansion. They did not took any points or notes from Heavensward early access and prepared more and better for Stormblood.

Pretty weak to limit instances, especially knowing there is a MSQ instance this early in the expansion. SE had a good idea of how many people were going to be on for Early Access. Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

Plus the fact that You give a response like that to pretty much say "let the community fix itself"

They seem to think that the community is a good group of people, who listens to each other. Which it doesn't. People are so selfish and unreasonable. But this is not OUR fault. It is SE'S fault. lol A hotfix would fix this. :) lol

Guess I'll chime in with the same complaint.
12 hours and 40 minutes (approximately) and still no fix... and not even a peep out of SE unless I missed it.
Oh and I'm on Balmung server if that matters.. seems to be everywhere though.

Why can't we learn that blocking progress behind instanced content is a bad idea? This isn't the first time this has happened.... We can't see anything... Because we are stuck, and it truly is not cool. There are loads of things to do... But we are all bottlenecked.

Letting the community fix itself will just lead to a mass exodus from the game itself. If this lingers on to after early access I'll just resign from this game completely. No point in wasting my time praying to lady luck if I won't ever get passed a lvl 60 quest

Where you around for this exact same thing back at the launch of ARR? I remember lining up single file in the Central Shroud for this same thing.
Balmung is so unstable there's mass DC's all over the place so you can't even manage a line for this. People are too rude/impatient and even if you do line up you run a very good chance of dc'ing before you ever make it to Raudahn. lol

I haven't been able to do it myself, but I heard there's a second instance soon after this one that you have to do.

*sigh* I just wish it wasn't so early in this game. That had to have been foreseen that people would congest the servers especially so early on all at once. And basically even going to other places is not able to happen until this bug gets fixed, which i do not foresee. I've been trying since basically 5 a.m. this morning, and people just sit and spam. No one is going to just stop spamming, they want to get through. I don't really know what's going to happen, but if I spend all four days of early access stuck here, I'm really not going to be happy.

13 hours since servers went live
A system error occurred during event movement.
Come back later they said....

Square should implement a queue system for the instance reserving, instead of letting us play lottery. And it is lottery. Those lucky enough to get in get a huge head start over us with bad luck.
I waited in line for over 3 hours. Got to the front, and been harassing Raubahn for another three hours.

I was totally here for that. Like opening quests for MSQ you could not progress through. It's a lesson that should have been taken note of.

I came to read the huge amount of upset. The "try again later" response is kind of shitty because the longer this goes on, the more people who are going to be held up at the same point. I have no knowledge on servers but there has to be some solution better than try again later because trying it again later when there are at least 10x the amount of people stuck at the same point isn't going to work. Also, I've now been dc'd probably 15 times in the last hour. The last dc I was standing at the aetheryte in uldah doing nothing. Now the world is full (Leviathan.) I feel an emergency maintenance coming. I just hope it relives the issues.

worst thing ever is that none from SE is even trying to reply to our complaints.... is this kind of service what i paid for? 44 euros + monthly fee and still they can't even answer on the official forum?

This Beyond shocking. SE should of know this would happen yet they went a head with it. I've gone for a bloody sleep and it's STILL not working. SE SORT THIS NOW!!!

I've been at this since 5:20 am getting the same error message and for others who just logged in and get the Que after a few attempts, it makes you real salty. We have gone thru a data center move and lost half of our friends due to the increased in ping and latency with the promise of better performance. SE thinks we have all the free time in the world just to sit around and try over and over for an instance that is 4 quest line into SB. Even one of the side quest was dumb having only 2 spawn location mob for the quest. I really wish they added a Que for the instance, because then at least we know what we are getting into and have free time to do other things around the house. I rarely complain but this is ridiculous 12hrs later and all we are told is to try again.

Yeah. The BLM Quest has the same restritctions, as it' also an instanced fight.
This is just lousy. If anyone would come up with this quality of work, he/she would be fired on the spot

I would love to see any feedback on what they're trying to do to resolve this. "Riding it out" does not work when you create a big artificial bottleneck at the start.

What they could do is giving people the option to skip this quest as a temporary measure. Or add a queue timer so you queue up once, and you get a general idea of when you're up. For lore reasons they can make the entire quest a movie instead of instanced combat. This all can be done without adding more hardware to solve the bottleneck issues.

I would like to point out. That yes, it's annoying and frustrating that we can't get passed this. But, you have to realize that the amount that goes into debugging a simple program yet alone a massive MMO like this. That, it can take hours to pin point the bug if this is a software issue, possibly days. If this is a hardware issue(not enough servers for the congestion), it also, takes a lot of time to provision, rack, network and etc these servers.

They are not sitting there with their thumbs in there ass.... They are actually trying to fix this. Bitching and whining, does not, speed up the process. Nor, does bitching and yelling at any of the staff here on the forums, live chat or phone. All you do is impede the actual work.

I would also, like to point out when shit like this happens the Devs, QA, Customer Service, are all stressed out because the ENTIRE company is on red alert and trying to get this back into a working situation. The longer is take the more it frustrating it gets for them. Because they want this to work for you as much as you want it.


Spend some time working at a enterprise data center or enterprise software company where millions of people and hundreds if not thousands companies rely on you to make sure your product works.

If you want to keep the bitching up. Where I am sure most of you don't even know where to begin writing C, C++ and probably Assembly code that goes into dev'ing this game. Please, go ahead and try to fix this problem with no info or help at all. your just told it's broken.

Congratulations on wasting everyone's time with no useful information other than "Wah, I am a child and I am soooo ass hurt, I can't play the game. Because you are fixing the problem we reported"
