I'll agree that once Rain of Death got changed Wide Volley was rarely needed, but it didnt require you to move to use it as a filler, as rare as that was. I do agree though it did feel like it became a noob trap, I saw more people use it instead of the Rain of Death proc method. The only thing I have to say is because they altered the proc method again, Wide Volley might of seen more useful use, but we wont know.

Shadowskin will be missed for me.

All of DRK's cooldown animations are super-stylish and it'll be a shame to lose any of them.

I am secretly hoping some of the new cross class skills will take the form of the 'removed' abilities. A DRK using rampart hurts my soul.

I'll miss Wide Volley, and I'll certainly miss Dancing Edge, couldn't they have got rid of Aeolian instead? :/

Do you... ever watch other brds? what I said is more of a joke because a large amount of brds do horrible DPS because all they do is spam it, so removing it achieves their goal of lessing the skill gap since it does not exist to spam. I do not think removing low level aoes like quick nook is smart then how in the hell do you aoe in low levels?

Happy see it gone, so sick of seeing so meany spam it just because it looks cool or something. Wide volley and berserk macros is something I will not miss.

This could technically be achieved just as easily by simply giving Wide Volley by default, so that there is no more viable option. There, skill-gap lessoned, though AoE TP efficiency has been slightly reduced.

Or, by giving Wide Volley by default but at Quick Nock's TP cost. Skill gap lessoned, with buffed AoE accessibility.

Yes I do see other Bards, and yes I know exactly what you meant, but that skill alone isnt the main reason for the gap. Some Bards are just bad. I had one last night that they would only focus on one enemy, DoT it, then spam the single target skills. I saw Rain of Death maybe once and Wide Volley maybe 3 times. I asked her if she knew the AoE rotation, and well when I explained it I got nada, and she was the AoE DPS too, T.T

Also don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying Wide Volley itself was better than Quick Nock, its positioning was better. Our normal range for skills is lets say 15y in game (dont know the exact number just giving an example) Wide Volley had the same range as all of our other skills, Quick Nock's range is shorter, maybe starting out at 8y and moving up to 12y. With Wide Volley you can stay at your original spot but Quick Nock forces you to move. The only benefit now is you can move while spamming it now.

Also I dont Know but MCH had 2 similar AoEs was their Wide Volley equivalent removed as well? They always had more AoE over us anyway.

Edited the OP with some new info from the E3 interview.

I have a feeling that dancing edge and dark dance were removed purposely. For a new Dancer (DNC) class that might be added in 5.0. Would make sense since dancing edge is iconic for Dancers.

Was it being spammed on a pack of mobs? Because honestly its actually more efficient and better DPS overall to pop cooldowns and spam Wide Volley on a pack of mobs, than it is to single target each one to death. So on large pulls, yes, it had a huge usage. Interchangeable with Quick nock - personal preference honestly. So now we'll just hear all the Bards making popcorn since we only have Quick Nock now (see sig if u dont get the joke.)

I'm going to miss Luminiferous Aether. No flashy moves but I always enjoyed it's particle effects and the sound it makes.

Ring of Thorns! The animation for it is so unique and fun, not getting to have it in the new /gpose is just so disappointing.

Oh! I know I mentioned it just further up the thread but please can we have a Luminiferous Aether emote?

I am glad they are gone, all people do is spam them in cities like goofs. Ring especially. THANK GOD RING OF THORNS IS GONE!!!!

I'd like that for most of the role skills that were consolidated from other jobs. Luminiferous Aether and Stella for AST, for example.

Scourge and the old Delirium animations were pretty sweet too, love to see those as a emote :p

Hey simple request. Can you make the powerful phlebotemize thrusting animation into the first attack that comes out of the new sprinting animation with the lance out? I noticed it's just a normal attack which really sells it short. Phlebotemize would complement the new animation perfectly without having to give it to us back.

Also I noticed the new bard/animation version of Peloton has separate animations, as do many others, can we get back our old leg sweep animation for our version please? Thanks.

Y'know what would be nice? If they made it so that the Skill was the same, but the Animation different based upon the Job using it, bringing back some of the flavour lost with the recent Role System.
I think it's well within the capacity of the system to do such a thing. The animations are already there obviously, and many of the recent Job Changes heavily feature Skills which change based on your stance, WAR especially. To say nothing of the new PvP system. I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility to imagine expanding these systems or creating something similar to apply to the new Role System.
