Which is why, from their wording, it does not apply to just the EU. "across all data centers." If it were as you say, it would say "across both data centers", and also why I suggested a rep response here on the forums to clarify. :)

My question is why they add the new EU worlds on the 20th, and not the 16th with early access. I'm really not looking forward to that on Ragnarok since I know that a lot of people there have early access and obviously want to play it, so I assume there will be more people logging in in those 4 days too. I will most probably transfer to those new worlds, but why do we have to wait to do that while already doing SB content and getting the longer login queues? Even for people without early access it seems to me like it would be nice to get some preparation time on the other server.
And about the servers that will get free transfers to them, when will they be announced? Since it seems like it will be before SB, which makes sense since the goal is to get people off high pop servers before SB launches, but as it is now, people on those are just somewhat "trapped". Sure they can pay 18$ to leave but barely anyone will do that, so all that's been achieved for now is keeping the population stable when the goal is decreasing it.

Addition of EU Data Center Worlds and Improvements to Population Distribution
All Worlds on the EU data center are presently experiencing high levels of player congestion. To resolve this issue, new Worlds will be added at the release of 4.0.
Moreover, players who to transfer to or create new characters on designated Worlds across all data centers will receive special bonuses as described below.

If i understand it right, then only Stormblood alone without ARR or HW is on preorder. So whoever want to be in early acess have to own the ARR+HW bundle already and have to finish the 3.5 MSQ before ea start (or all what he will have from ea are the 2 new jobs).
I 'll be honest I'd like the new worlds prior to early access giving those of us who are willing to sacrifice our current characters in order to populate them a chance to at-least get somewhat catch up and be on a similar level playing field going into the expansion I.E not starting at level 1 but rather giving us a week to prepare so we can get roughly 50 or so.
I'm not sure I'd hold them up as a standard for handling server population - the pseudo mergers don't adress the bigger issue of faction balance and CRZ is widely decried as one of the worst additions to the game since it launched.
Really, these kinds of rewards (xp boosts and currency are common, free game time is a step above the usual) and free transfers are among the best solutions unless they go full in on the mega-server option.
I mean, you can just transfer there, as far as my understanding goes those worlds will get free transfers, but I'd very much like it if there wasn't just level 1 and transfered level 60 players then... Also I want to get the time to set up an fc there, and hopefully get housing there too as fc, without having to dvote time to that instead of getting to play SB.
While that is true I have some friends coming to the game for Stormblood so starting from 1 will be quite helpful to them as I can level with them via quest ect. However if the new worlds don't open until 20th of june then I can't see alot of people moving/starting there since they'll have been playing SB for the early access period and unless full FC's Static groups move over it will just lead to a dead world.
It does suck that friends can't join the game on my server, but it's a good thing for the game.
I remember when 3.0 first launched. We had 2 x of every 3.0 map to prevent over crowding. And even after that people were locked out of The Dravanian Forelands for days if you played at peak hours. We had double the limits of other servers and we still hit the player cap in an area.
They restricted transfers and character creations, meaning if you were lucky, you could still find a window to get a character through. Not a full-on closure, which is what this is. They may, indeed, unlock at a later date, but I wanted to throw out there the difference.
Im considering moving to the new servers, just not sure how its gonna be. With the crossworld PF its not really a issue for my static for example. We are used to it. I would mabey not start over since i have 2 chars full BiS, since ive been raiding at both. But we will see! I know one of my friends wants to move as well. I will see what it brings :D But i think they should release the servers before 20th of june. So i can get the FC to rank 8 again and get a FC house like i have now
My friend was transfering to Balmung tonight. ^^'' I hope he likes leveling in nearly empty worlds for a few months.
Realistically though, Balmung is not going to thin out without serious incentives. To me, some gil and play time is not worth friends, (much bigger amounts of) gil, houses, FCs, roleplay, etc. I'm not moving. No one on my immediate friends list is going because their friends list isn't moving. So on and so forth.
I understand why the axed it, but they should have done this ages ago before the problem could not be solved with a simple lock.
EU Balmung players hit the jackpot with this one, there's nothing stopping them from having a mass exodus now and coming to play at home and setting up a new RP servers.
"All Worlds on the EU data center are presently experiencing high levels of player congestion. To resolve this issue, new Worlds will be added at the release of 4.0"
This surprised me though, never realized we were so full. I know we only have 1 dc and 3-4 of the servers on it are constantly locked, but I didn't realize we needed new servers.
I think one of the best ways they can hope to clear out Balmung is through some sort of convenient FC moving system (already talk of letting FC refund purchases and such, perhaps they should unlock the move house system for 4.0 to be cross server temporarily as well), with of course encouragement.. (since people most likely came for that social reason).
Although Balmung will always have a bit of a draw (even if it thins out, it'd probably slowly go back to cap again). So maybe they should also slap a few RP stickers onto servers, the most effective sticker use would be to make all the official RP servers not Balmung as this would probably create a larger exodus than if Balmung was one of the RP servers... it'd also probably make a lot of people annoyed though xD lol.
Balmung may be over populated but the majority just log in and AFK. I for one am considering leaving.
I am late to the party on replying here, but in addition to this. SE needs to implement a force disconnect for anyone that goes AFK near extremely commonly used NPC. Set a radial range from the npc, if you are afk more than 20 minutes you are force disconnected.
I saw a sea of red chairs in Quarrymill directly on top of the PotD npcs. They stayed there for hours on end not moving. I took several pictures, some including people on large sized mounts, I think one was a giant fat cat floating above the player. This directly blocks the targeting of the npc and you have to play move the camera.
While this may seem like ranting and I understand why people would think that or just say use a target npc macro, why should there be another step for people just trying to play the game while so many people are inconsiderate to the rest of the player base?
