I finally got a day off from work and I can't play because maintenance =/
Wouldn't get my hopes up. It's a server relocation and that's different to regular maintenance's, this means that current running services will not continue till the data transfer is complete, most companies run data backups/updates already days/weeks prior, to avoid an overly extended downtime, but there's a lot of companies that don't do that.
Either way, in both cases you wouldn't get leve allowances, the games gardening will be effected as well etc. for the time being. Weekly server reset will still be the same, as it has nothing to do with the actual procedure here, meaning that this has happen last night already and by the time you're logging back into the game, you will have a day less time (actually 2 but let's ignore logic for a moment) to farm everything, get your WT done, weekly lockouts etc. However you'll be compensated and have 2 days added to your current active subscription (NA), and 1 day for EU/JP.
And just before the speculations and questions are going to pop again, there's no free character transfer for EU players currently on NA servers, or at least it hasn't been announced yet. Nor do we know what someone else's ping and latency will be. We also currently do not know the exact location of the new data centers. So please just all wait and chill lol
Well, now's a good time as ever to catch up on all those single player games we've been hoarding.
You know the ones: Got a stack of 'em and no time to play 'em.
Many thanks to the maintenance, yesterday I got a new life!!!!
The night become so long I have done a lot of things and sleep really early!!!
I am looking forward the network speed improvement, I just want my connection speed will work like what I watched in youtube.
Im actually really worried my ping is going to get worse with the move. I'm not super close to the old server, but the new one is likely to be farther away. I've already got my old pings ready to compare to the new ones.
Side note: I discovered that because I'm west coast, my ping to the JP servers is better than to the EU servers by a significant margin. Heh.
Edit: Hmm, it appears it's going to be in San Francisco and not somewhere u.s. east coast. This bodes well...
That's why they should learn from other video games like Warframe that has seamless patching so you can still play while it's being patched (or a very short maintenance).
