I also thought Zell's board from ff8 would be pretty swag.

Yeah if you're saying we don't have the tech for motorcycles when we have mechwalkers, I don't know how to help you. You're wrong.
I want a bicycle.
A perfectly normal bicycle. Cuz I'm plain like that.
A bicycle would be nice, but seeing speed 3 would be hilarious, so, double yes.
But yeah, anyone saying it doesn't fit has never paid attention to the game or lore AT ALL. This is a story about lesser nations coming together and advancing into a new era as they combat a severely technologically superior enemy and retrofit their own weapons against them and even advance them further. Machinist is a class, so you can't call this medieval fantasy. It's a Fantasy Industrial Age shot forward by high tech enemies.
Motorbikes and mentioning FF8...
I kind of want the bikes used by the Galbadian Army in FF8

While a flying motorbike would be silly, a rocket powered jump in it's place might work for most cases...
no thanks to the bike.
Bandannas?! Ruffled, pointy hair with a ponytail?! Surely this is from a world too technologically advanced not to cause an all-consuming black hole if entered into our own!
Or they could just be hair. Maybe.
(Admittedly, there were the shitty replica weapons, too, but I haven't seen them since release week.)
Take anyone who hasn't seen the FFXIII characters and ask them, "do these hairstyles convey a conflicting world design?" I doubt they'd give a damn one way or the other.
Alternatively, take an advanced magitek gunship from XIII (or, say, a high-speed motorcycle from VII) when airships thus far are limited to basic magitek or traditional cannons and a literal propeller ship beneath a dirigible balloon and the primary mode of travel is an oversized chicken and then ask the same question. They'd probably then at least have a basis for an opinion, if not an outright affirmative.
Got a self-propelled vehicle? Want extra propulsion? So long as you have both parts, the combination doesn't seem to ridiculous if used in the right places.
While I doubt that would get much opportunity in this coming expansion, I would certainly appreciate more appearances of technology alike to the colorful and situationally believable style of FFVIII and FFX's. I'd prefer to avoid carbon copies unless the scenario they're introduced in intends to be a homage as well, though.
I really hope we don't get Cloud's Bike. There's enough cloud wannabes out there, as well as it potentially making an annoying sound around everyone else.
There is a reason for that - there are no actual sealed, permanent roads in Eorzea, roads are little more than dirt tracks or thin trails of broken cobblestones if you're lucky, so any wheeled vehicle like Cloud's motorcycle would be bound to get bogged down in the dirt as soon as it tried heading out (this is why the chocobo carriages don't have wheels but are suspended above the ground by balloons which the chocobos just tow along). Hells, this is also the reason why chocobos are stated as being superior to horses in Eorzea, chocobos are just better suited to the rough broken terrain than hoofed animals like horses.
And the clincher, how is Cloud's bike even going to be powered? The AC bike runs on petrol - there are no oil refineries in Eorzea. Other mechanical mounts at least have explanations about how they're powered (manacutter draws wind aetherial energy from the environment, the magitek armour would be fueled by cereleum, and Azeyma only knows how the Allagan nodes are powered).
Cloud's bike just does not fit Eorzea, no matter how much you try to rationalize it. Eorzea is a land that is still in a late medieval/age of exploration/Renaissance period that is just on the cusp of an Industrial revolution - Cloud's bike is just too futuristic (remember, Eorzea still uses wooden sailing ships as it's primary form of ocean transport, and most land transport is still done by pack mule and animal labour). No, it just would not fit.
Don't mind the garlean's nigh hyper advanced Ceruleum powered technology which includes the Agrius, the most powerful airship the realm had ever seen to date 15 years prior to current events in this "medevil" era.
The very existence of the garlean empire and their tech throws the whole "it won't fit cuz medevil" idea out the window.
Listen people, It can be garlean. It can be magitek. It can be Ceruleum powered. Boom.
We have Cloud's outfit, so why not make his bike and Buster Sword or his other sword a new veteran reward? I mean, it's not going to hurt anybody if added and would help those who wanted to make a complete copy of Cloud's look really happy. Plus it could be used as a promotion for FFVIII's remake, too. So wouldn't it make it possible for it to be added in FFXIV; it'd be a great way to promote another FF game plus it'd make FFXIV AND FFVII Remak more money! :D
I am still for SOME kind of bike, I don't care if its Cloud's or not. Hover bike would even work for me, but with an increased speed they certainly can't use how fast were going as an excuse unless they wanna pull the whole "Why would a Motorcycle be the same speed as a Turtle?" To which I reply, why is a Coerul the same speed as a Turtle or Behemoth.
I bet the Garleans could come up with something, I mean even in their temp outposts they were building roads.. wheels in their settled areas might actually be a thing - since I imagine full on roads there. And their quick build style is not the same as their homely/native territory, so we may be introduced to smoother / sleek designs from them. The bike definitely is out of element in our area of the land, but it might not always be that way (would work alright in large plain lands for example- or area with road lol).
If Gridania made the bike of course it would be like whaaaaat? But I don't see the bike breaking any sort of technological lore if made outside of our area (not our people's lol).
Why wouldn't Cloud's bike run off either or ceruleum as well?
I think you're just trying to find any reason why it wouldn't fit simply because you don't want it to.
The dev team, the people who created the lore of this game, already created the bike, and has said themselves the only reason it isn't in the game is because of the current mount speed, which is getting increased.
If the people who created this game feels the bike can fit in this game, then I don't see the merit in your argument.
It is called a "Alternate fuel source".
The engine for the bike in FF14 world can be made to use the same engine that powers the Magitek Mounts which we know the Garlean use as standard issue because it is universal and a unlimited source of power for any machanical device as long the user does not overload the power source.
As someone said it best. The DEVs made the bike already and didn't release it as land mounts are too slow. We know speeds are coming up in 4.x and also no reason they cant make it fly or roll on water or whatever because we have spinning rocket turtles and model airship drone mounts and madness is the lore of the land. So whether you are for it or not let me just lay it all out for you all....
It will be released....
It will be in the mogstation for $35+.....
People who hate the idea will feel sad and hope no one sees how sure and how big a deal it was to them in threads like this.....
People who wanted it are also a lot of the people who hate cash shops and/or cant afford the $35....
No one will be happy.....
Yoshi and the Crew will take a shot and be carted to the ER because we were so happy in 2.0 that they made a drinking game where they take a shot when we bitch to get things then bitch about haw they implement...
Fox will leave the game as he can't take it anymore and hates that he was one of us, moves to North Canada with his common law wife, a badger....
Yoshi will have to pawn his rings for the new Liver because of the shots game mentioned above......
We all move to BDO and being there 48 hr denounce gaming and start full active lives.....
the devs didn't make it. ONE team member made it during his free time for his own amusement. We only ever saw it because Yoshi wanted to share during a live letter ( I believe for said team members birthday ).
I pray we never get that hideous thing. Bad enough we have cloud's clothes.
I wouldn't mind the bike...
As a Garlean piece of Magitech it might fit into the game.
I dunno, in a world that has a faction that can mass produce spider mechs and get a dreadnought class airship up and running in just so and so years with a little overtime and that just being the tip of the iceberg on their tech I think something as simple as a motorcycle can happen.
I mean in stormblood awaits us the glory that is a fire spewing tommy gun, we are in for a ride in terms of tech!
Whether it is 'hideous' or not is completely subjective. You don't need to use it.
...and why, exactly, do you consider Cloud's clothes to be a problem? You do realise that a lot of the charm in this game is based around it being a love letter to fans of the franchise...right?
Ah you know how it is, there's going to be haters for everything put in this game. If they don't like it, they don't have to use it but that's not usually enough for them. They don't want the people that do like it to be able to use it either or to have to see someone on it for that matter. Ruin others fun.
I actually remember them stating that they actually added the bike into the game and tested it as they would have loved to put it in the game, but the slow mount speed made it feel terrible for a bike. The fact they are increasing ground mount speed feels like an attempt to allow the bike to be added into the game. The chances for it entering the game are FAR from small. Heck, I think they said they would add it if they ever increased ground mount speed.
I will say its a pretty shoddy bike though if my battle chicken can keep up with and even out run it.
Actually making the bike fly might be a reason they don't add it. They seem incline to make every new mount flyable so they can be used everywhere.
They have not bothered making the Sleipnir mount be able to fly after 2+ years. Then again, stranger mounts can fly and now swim, so if they do add cloud's motorcycle it may still fly.
I think I prefer the flying motorcycle seen in FF12.

Maybe even Snow's motorcycle

Or even the one's in FF8

Brings a whole new meaning to riding Ysayle--I mean Shiva.
I don't like the bike in general but I have to agree, we have other mounts that can fly, even tho they shouldn't. We will have mounts coming in 4.0 that shouldn't even swim, but yet it's going to be implemented. So all these people that say that bike's can't or shouldn't happen because of reality/realistic feel and features, or based on lore, have a seat because you can't play both fields. You either need to take a look at the current/upcoming mounts and start complaining about those as well, or you need to tolerate that there is a market for flying/swimming bikes or just bikes as land mount in general. I just hope for my own sanity that it doesn't come with an extreme annoying sound, other then that, I'll be more then happy to ignore people that bought these bikes lol.
They are increasing "Ground only" mounts speed I believe so a chocobo that is capable of flying wouldn't be able to hit said speeds. Most likely any mount they can't justify giving flight to will be given this perk so they have some use in game when flying might not be needed or players want to save time by being able to move faster on mount.
If it did fly.... please let the wheels burn as the effect so we can have Edge Lord power over 9000...
