When buying HQ, go in n look for it.
When buying NQ, aim for lowest price, or whatever you prefer to pay.

If someone is to ask, "well how do i know if its hq or nq?"... what did you intend on buying in the first place? ... is what I'm refering to. You obvi went to the AH to buy something, not browse at numbers n items looking for a deal... did you? If so, wait til 1.20b to do that.

You can see the retainer name of who is selling something now... if you see on the current sales list
42,308 for the item and Joe Tainer and all you see in the history is the example above, but someone else is selling the item for 12K... which one you buying?

I'm a miser with my gil. i don't plan on using the buy from list thing that much. If i do it will be for the cheep consumables/mats.

Got to say i am not that happy with the extra fee thing. I Kinda see where there coming from with it, the forums were chanting gil sink just as much as they were class uniqueness early on. and my digital feets will save me from paying the extra bit as always.

I knew it was to good to last, Square implementing features with out shooting them in both feet before they even hit the servers. Son i am disappoint.

The entire purpose of it being added was because people threw a million fits over having to OH MAI GAWD run to the retainer to buy stuff, instead of having a I CAYN'T BELAIVE AIT proper auction house. They both served the exact same purpose, one just has you scoot your buns to an NPC, where you purchase it.

Now, there's a service that brings the item to you, it just costs you 5% (with a maximum charge of 4,000 gil). I just suggested that instead of getting mad about having to pay a whole 4,000 gil, you could instead walk to the NPC, the same way it's been for a year (minus the search function). If you don't want to walk, you don't have to. There is no flaw in this. Stop being mad for no reason...this is an optional function.

Could you imagine the forums w/o someone complaining about something new not meeting their expectations. It happens every patch. People must have nothing to do but this game all day... doesnt anyone else just read the stuff and say cool "they are adding XYZ"... it's always "why didn't they add ABC!!! or EFG!!! or HIJKLMNOPQRSTUVW X..." Good grief, this is just the initial implementation of the feature. They will refine and iterate as time goes on. They even recognize the issue in the OP and have plans to fix it at a set time. Yeah, all these things and more should have been implemented yesterday, but it is what it is.

The features they are adding in are much improved over the crap we have to deal with now. I for one, am grateful.

When will the complaining stop? They try to give people what they want, and all people do is point out what it doesn't have. Ingrates.

This was supposed to be one of the biggest drawing points of 1.20. Heck, Yoshida even said that it wouldn't be a game worth paying for unless it had a good buy/sell system, and yet they give us an extremely raw version of the new MW-system. One thing I find extra disheartening, that they didn't even touch upon, is that the way we put stuff on sale will still be the same. We need to be able to do that from the menu as well.

Even after all this time, they're still taking babysteps =/

I agree with the OP. We need to be able to view the item when buying. They should not start charging us until this is at 100% completion.

There is no 'reasonable discussion' with people who try and attack other people with insults instead of rationally explaining their position or argument.

These ward updates are failing till now. I understand that develop something like this is not an easy task, however I am still thinking that it could all be created in the better way. /cheers devs, (curious about 2.0v improvements)

What's the point of being able to buy from the Item search list if I have no idea of what I am buying? I could end up buying an overpriced NQ + pay taxes on top!!! So until this is fixed, we still have to go find the retainer...


Please SE make sure you don't start charging before this is implemented. This was meant to be one of stars of the patch, and once again you push the important things back.

EDIT: Please note this thread is not about buyer tax, that's just a trivial annoyance IMO. This thread is about the inability to view item details from item search, forcing you to still visit multiple wards/retainers to find what you seek. This doesn't meet the standard we were promised before subscription fees start.

I just find it really strange how they keep giving us all these (in my opinion, way too intricate) ways to enhance our gear (with HQ's and materia) before we have a proper way to distribute them. They're doing everything backwards.

So, the system works perfectly fine for anything outside of special items like HQ and gear with materia.

And people who are looking for HQ items may have to go to a retainer to confirm whether something is HQ or not.

QUESTION:
How is this anything other than a step it in the right direction? Obviously the market won't be finalized for a long time, so all we will get are steps and improvements. Given that, how on earth can people complain when something like this feature is so obviously an improvement??

You answered your own question. At this rate it will take a long time. A fully functional market system should have been in place on September 23rd 2010.

We have waited more than a year, and still we are not far from where we started.

They will start asking for subcription money before the market system is anywhere near the "standard" promised by Yoshida.

We have a fully functional market system. It just, as I said, isn't finalized yet. The type of market system that I have suggested requires waiting until 2.0.

the op is somewhat accurate although overstated.

simply put,

with our current itemization not being able to see quality or materia is a glaring flaw, in fact it is a bigger flaw than the lack of a buy from menu feature, and it has been a flaw since market seraches inception, it is only compounded now with materia and items with materia added.

Yoshi said that he felt having a working item distribution system was one of the keys he needed before it was ready for p2p, but this is still not a working item distribution system.

There is still no way to tell what is truely on sale without going to every retainer who is selling the item.

Imo this feature is more important than item history and a buy from menu option, because at the end of the day, being able to tell what you are buying or look for is the most important feature.

HQ is only one facet of the issue, materia is now the other.

and while they are working on it, they need to stick by their own words, the devs officially said it was the most important things for charging, so if it is failing then why are they charging. Im not saying they shouldnt charge by jan 6, im saying if thats their goal then they need to meet their own self imposed criteria for what makes it ready to charge before then.

get a working item search, the fact is as far as item searching goes, the system that was supposed to be in place by 1.20 is in function of searching for specific items, no better than before, although in some cases it is more convenient.

I could say we're still in the stage of pilgrimage when it come to FFxiv. Leave short for complaints if less for harsh criticism for SE efforts to please the player base and turn the game around in the first place. Saying it's not ready to start paying for and this and that is long-term arrogance and down-right negativity for saying the least. Everyone has their own views of the system and as for me, I rather walk/run to the retainer to buy. When I sell, if I rent a stand... you better damn well pay me a visit to purchase my good and wave hello to my retainer with her pretty stand set-up (or they going to rent stands for free next up-date?).

I agree with this post, not knowing what is NQ and HQ means you have to go check the retainer anyway.

I hope you plan to add this in 1.20a/b as its been something which should have been fixed a long time ago.

HQ items need to have a seperate history to NQ also.

Select Item, and have the option to view NQ or +1 for example.

Agree with this, this is why I think an average system similar to Vindictus would be so much better.

SE should keep the history prices hidden and display an average price over the last 20 sold items instead.
