"Stay away from the Summoner."
Option D: Musketeer
And if that's not an option. I'll go for a Scout class. Only if it's called scout, and only if the weapon is a baseball bat.
EDIT: Seriously though, give us a caster class. This game needs more magic based characters.
We have casters and we have melees we need a pet class if not for the sake of diversity!
Pet class please (SUMMONER o yea!)
Answer: A Disciple of Magic class, regardless.
After that, then I would vote for Thief.
Then a pet class.
pet job puppetmaster and for those saying smn just remember Yoshida has gone on record saying none of the major primals would be summoned by a smn class.

...This would explain the .dat files of whips being a weapon yeah? :D
Beastmasters seem the easiest to implement. I agree with earlier posts saying that summoner would be somewhat difficult to add with the current class system set up.
~Hoping for SMN and BST ^_^ ... and other classes i guess?
Pet class or musketeer but musketeer isnt an option? it certainly wouldnt be a caster or debuffer we need a real ranger DD to make up for your making archer into brd >.>
STILL WANTS SUMMONER

And to a lesser extent bst pup and other such nonsense.
I don't know if that question was actually for right now or just an example to what he was referring to. If he requires an answer though, thief above all.
Well, with the upcoming change to THM the game is in dire need of a new healing class. So whatever they decide to fill that role with is fine.
First caster, because we need more mages
Second pet class because we need more debuffs
Last Thief
id just like to remind everyone how awesome it would be to have some of these abilities in FFXIV asap. especially for primal battles.

Comet - Deals non-elemental damage to one target. It has 2 upgrades, either being Cometeo or Meteor.
Haste - Haste speeds up an action of a character, allowing it to take more actions.
Immobilize - Immobilize prevents a character from moving, but can still take other actions.
Regen - Regen allows characters to recover HP periodically until it wears off. This is also commonly a spell of White Magic, varying between titles. Its upgrade is Regenga.
Slow - Slow slows down an action of a character, reducing the amount of actions it can do
Vanish - The character turns intangible to physical attacks, but in exchange, its Magic Evasion is nullified. (time mages have extremely high magic evasion)
Balance - In Final Fantasy XII, damages according how much HP is lost.
banish was listed but had a different effect. im thinking banish could return as a non elemental nuke.
I don't think a new class/job will come out until 2.0 regardless. I think I would lean towards seeing a pet class first since it's a playstyle we don't really have yet. I know Yoshi and a lot of others (including myself) think we could really use another caster class though. It's a tough choice.
CON/WHM are only one type of healer though.
you do realize that most games have several types of healers that specialize in different ways of healing such as massive HOTs but crap burst healing?
what about a healer that specializes in chain healing? or amount of heals done in succession?
not that i care that much, i hate healing.
It pains me to do so, because thief is my favorite class/job, but I think another caster is most important right now.
However, if they want to make thief a debuffer class to fill that void, I can be perfectly fine with it. :) Thief seems like the perfect fit for a high-speed, low-damage, debuffer with one or two options for high burst damage. Basically just like FFXI's thief, but replace the hate management with debuffs. (Although I love managing hate too...)
While my gut says a Scout class(that can dual-wield a la Rikku in FFX-2 no less), I think they should add another discipline of magic first, being that DoM kinda needs someone to throw 'em a bone.
My vote naturally goes to something already mentioned in the game, Arcanist leading into Geomancer would be nice. Maybe some sort of Mystic leading up to Time Mage would be feasible as well.
All 3 should be implemented at 2.0 no doubt about it.
customizable moogle retainers.
Pet class.
Pet class (Pet user and Debuff) < Yes, please > (^_^ )
I could have sworn Yoshida said he wanted to put in another mage class before considering more war classes. Let me find the quote....

If you look at the game right now, the balance is more toward physical attack classes with very few caster classes. Looking at MMOs, we realize that this is not a good balance to have, so the first thing that we're going to be doing after introducing the job system is probably introduce another caster class because that's what the game needs. We realize that currently, the game is lacking in a lot of crowd control type of spells, and we need these to make battles more strategic. To introduce these types of spells, we think one obvious way is to introduce a new caster class that's able to handle them.
A third caster please!:D
We have way too less anyway..:(
And with THM changed to boring nuker, I want to get debuffs back, too;)
Well, something like a summoner would be nice too (not beastmaster though).
And I always liked thief in previous FF games, but seeing how poorly Pugilist got treated, which is kind of a little bit similar to thief, I'm not so sure if I want to see this class implemented..
Pet class but not a summoner. So u could have your little furry companion that u could name and love and hug etc
Summoner could function as a caster, debuffer while being a pet class itself. This is what would get my vote. Hardest part (if not impossible) would be beating FFXI's Carby's cuteness :).
Here's my Final Fantasy dream class (yes, its a bit silly):
CHOCOBO BREADER
Pet class job, with multiple chocobos available to fill any role party is needing.
Colored chocobos are obtained by hunting down Yellow Chocobos and then raising and breeding them with other players chocobos.
White Chocobo - Healing and buffing spells.
Red Chocobo - Dots, debuffs, crowd control.
Black Chocobo - Elemental damage spells.
Blue Chocobo - Uses various abilities learned from monsters.
Fat Chocobo - Tank.
Green Chocobo - Bard, uses chocobo dances for powerfull party enhancing buffs and crowd control.
Purple Chocobo - Mellee dps.
Ok, I can always dream :o.
What I want: Thief
What we will get: Caster
As much as I would love to have Thief in the game I do think there is a lack of casters. I read that enfeebles were being taken from the current mage classes so in that circumstance a potent enfeeble class like RDM would be nice but also boasting buffs such as haste etc.
I also think a class that works with enmity would be a nice boost and this is generally thief. I think a mage that could effect the flow of battle with enmity buffs and further enchantments would be nice but it also doesn't seem like enough to be a full class.
Mage classes is a tough one really I think and a lot of them fall into a category of having a few nice specific spells but then having to resort to cure assist a lot. Perhaps Blue Mage could be considered it was always one of the most popular in the series I think.
I wonder if dual wield will be implemented into XIV and if so will it just be a trait specific to one job. I really enjoy playing dual wield daggers and a clase I always enjoyed in FFXI was Dancer. With the way TP works in XIV a healer class that works with TP and also enfeebles the mob would work perfectly I think.
I'm sure whatever new class is released will be great but I agree with a lot of other people that they should be implemented in groups rather than one at a time. Otherwise the majority of the servers will be seeking a party on the same class/job!
1. Scout-type class (Thief, etc.)
2. Pet class (Pet user and Debuff)
3. Caster class (Ranged DD and Debuff)
For scout class call we have Musketeer? Only other Ranged DoW, can make their 'job' Corsair =D
Although we need more casters, and I'd love to level something up besides CNJ after my thm, I'm voting PET for this one, because we have no pet jobs. We have two casters, maybe they should give us a pet class/job, and soon after a caster class/job. Those are the two most needed. After that I'd love to see a scout class still too.
I don't see why they couldn't just combine all 3 into one:
a Ranged Debuffer with a Tank Pet so you can Sneak Attack and Steal from the mobs.
My first choice would definitely be a pet class, preferably Beastmaster. Someone had put up a good point earlier about their being different types of healers. So with that line of thought, my second vote would go to a type of healer who focuses on melee and not dependent on MP, Dancer.
