It does feel like if we'd ever get another race, we'd need another smaller race. Something height-wise between lalas and waifus--er, female au'ra and miqo'te. For this, I have two ideas here:

Duar
The "dwarf" race. Broad, stocky (~4 ft or 122 cm average height) creatures of habit hailing from mountainous terrain who pride themselves on harder work, especially in regard to craftsmanship. In addition to their stout and muscular frames, both clans are recognized for considerably excessive body and facial hair.
Soilstep: The more lively and sociable Duar clan. Identified by their smoother skin and facial hair adornments (on beards for men, on eyebrows for women). Better known between Duar clans as merchants, travelers and agriculturalists who prefer life among grassy foothills.
Shardskin: Named for having anywhere from pale to ashen skin so dry that it appears as if their skin is made of rock shards. Unlike their Soilstep brethren, Shardskin Duars normally do not stray often from the mountain they were born in. Known for a normally quiet, solitary demeanor and a habitual obsession for work, regardless of however mindless it may be or how important something else may be.

Pitha
A smaller (still ~4 ft or 122 cm), slender race hailing from various jungle islands throughout Hydaelyn easily spotted by their mane-like hairstyles, a general lack of muscle tone, and curled tails much like the tails found on opo-opo, making scholars question whether or not they are related to either the opo-opo or to the Lalafell, who originally came to Eorzea from islands similar to those the Pitha currently reside. Clever, agile, often aloof, even mischievous at times, Pitha are mostly recognized for their highly social behavior.
Top-top: The more secluded of the two Pitha clans, identifed by their notably more "feral" appearances and thicker tails, and normally residing in structures built near jungle canopies. Despite their isolate habitat, they are still welcoming of anyone showing up in or near their homes, initially through intensive staring while waiting for their guest to talk first.
Sim-sim: The more outgoing of the two Pitha clans, often living in coastal settlements or drifting between islands on villages floating on makeshift rafts. More noted between the two clans socially as pranksters, even having pranking contests to determine who becomes village leader. Physically recognized by more groomed hairstyles similar to those found of other races.

As for another normal-sized race, I'm kinda surprised no one's mentioned the Aegyl....

If we're looking for a Dwarf-like race, then how about something like the Lilties from Crystal Chronicles series?

They're Dwarfs/Stout-but-Strong Race + Plant People. With the Plant People element, they would have something to distinguish them from Lalafell and other races (I would want devs to push the Plant People elements more though).

IDK maybe a maturity appearance/ mixed race like hilda/half miquo's but Im not sure how content the community would be about a new race that has to be humanoid plus tail and weird ear like design or something. it makss sense to me that all the garbs have to fit with minimal clipping etc so

We do not need a new race. It was a wow thing (for a good reason) and now we are forcing it to be a FF thing.

I know most of you will say I'm copying from wow... But I really would like a werewolf race, or at the very least to have the option to change miqo'te from cat to wolf (fluffier tails, bigger build, lot more hair especially facial hair), is really a shame one of the subraces of miqo'te is the keeper of the moon, and they still make it look like a cat.

If you play Divinity Original Sin 2 your prayers are answered. They have the Undead which are skeletons.

I want Viera, but if not Viera Id be for a more beast like race.

Something that I'd seen mentioned in other threads about new races would be one that is kind of the opposite of the au'ra in that its the males that are small and "cute" while the women are much larger and fierce looking. I'd remembered reading things where people think the real reason for male mi'qote popularity isn't that they are catboys but that they have the smallest build for male characters with the exclusion of lalafell. Havent gotten a good look at these concept pictures but lore wise it kind of sounds like Viera would fit this niche. I'd also be for more customization options on the existing races. They'd make a fortune on fantasia sales if they did it >.>

I dont know if this is possible, SE has shown the past years that with FFXIV, they want to avoid making cute (non gnomes type of race) males or give males feminine (Shisui outfit suprised me) clothes. There was even a interview where Yoshida said that the developers (males) do not feel comfortable with creating cute or sexy stuff for (this is also one of the many reasons why Bunny Outfit for males have been delayed for so long) male avatars. If they were to add a cute bishounen male then this would mean the male version will have a racial outfit that fits him and emotes that reflects his cuteness. I just can not see SE who has a hard time designing a cute or sexy outfit for male avatars, be able to create a bishounen male with emotes etc.

As much as I want to see cute small males (maybe like Alphinaud or Sora from Kingdom Hearts, I dont think SE will add a tall female character and small cute male. They will either make both genders the same like Lalafell or give us another Au Ra mess.

Gonna toss another one on the "Let's have more customization rather than a new race" pile. I mean, I wouldnt mind a new race, but like others have also said, I would love it if I could customize my current races better. Ears on miqote for example, maybe you could do a Scottish fold ear, maybe you could do a lynx/caracal ear, etc. Au Ra, being able to mix and match horns and faces, like Yugiri having face #2 but horns from #1. More faces in general wouldn't be bad either. I realize plenty of people don't care, but many do, and in a game like this, they could only benefit from expanding customization. I mean, imagine how much more they could make off of Fantasias on the mog store if there were even more options. People play this game specifically for what is already there and expanding that would only help them. Adding a new race would accomplish that in a sense, but enriching current character customization would not exclude that, either. They could do both if they wanted. Still, Id rather have more options, and I think it would be better overall for the game to do that first, at least IMO. ^_^

I've done a lot of research on the topic and unless we get the waifu-bait people on board we're going to have to kill the fox idea. Preferably the race should have some sexual dimorphism that's basically impossible to explain like the au ra. We're thinking something like the males are fifteen feet tall and have a mouth that looks like a garbage disposal and an overall appearance that says 'I eat metal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I still suffer from an iron deficiency'. The females on the other hand will be four and a half inches tall and only able to speak in the garbled babbling of a 9 year old.
