How are you prepping for Samurai/Redmage?

Some people are like that, much like preparing for either of these jobs when you have no idea if you're going to like it or not. From the way it seems is that you could easily have the gear needed for 50 if you just...play, spend that currency on level 50 gear. Me, I've realized there's no point in rushing. Worlds first, all that..means very little.

Still, I really want to see what these jobs are like. Currently I am not a giant fan of most of the DPS because of the way their rotations are, so I stick with Summoner. I guess we may have to wait until May to find out?

what datacenter is this? i'm on primal and i've never had to ever wait for 1 hour for any role, in any content at any point in the game o.o i mean, outside of maybe previous expansion 24 man content at the time nobody was running it at all. that's terrifying.

I have a pencil, a notepad and a calculator. Preparations complete.

I have level 50/60 gear for most classes, so not fussed about gearing. I will likely trial them both with some solo potd anyway. With the changes to all classes/jobs I'm keeping an open mind as to what to use as main come stormblood.

Exactly with all the changes they're making to the abilities. It seems better to do a wait and see what's released approach then decide on what interests you the most in the changes. One thing is if they give RDM the haste spell that will make it an instant magnet for everyone as no other job in the game right now has it.

No prep at all as I'd rather focus on my trinity choices, but seeing as one of them does involve MNK, I guess if I'm ever bored and looking for alternatives, SAM would be worth checking out eventually. Must remember not to trade in my gear for seals beforehand, though.

I'm doing the same as most ppl for gear (augmented ironworks). I plan to run potd floors 51-60 till I hit level 51 then start running dungeons on my SAM. I plan to map out my crossbars and read the tool tips for my skills in potd. While waiting on queues, I'll follow SB story on my scholar main and start leveling up my DoL/DoH. Not the fastest way to hit level cap, but I tend to enjoy variety with my playtime. (I've also saved up some primal drops if I wanna craft a pretty katana)

Doubt I'll be running POTD much, with this speed run or get kicked mentality going around there. I might not even play SAM right away depending on the changes to other classes.

Sending squadrons out, on whatever weekly mission rewards them with the "squadron battle manual" (changes every week). This item increases battle exp by 15% for 2 hours! They will certainly wear down some of the level grind! Not just for red mage but all your other Dow jobs!

Have my DRK ready, that's it xD

I plan to take my DRK straight thru the story first. That way once it's time for those that do need to get their new jobs leveled, I will be one of the tank that will be in the DF queue.

I'll level the newer jobs after I finish my main, then decide if I will be swapping out my NIN as my DPS main for one of these two.

I've been doing this, too! Be careful, though, to remember that the tooltip for it says that it ~does not~ stack with FC exp buffs!

How am I preparing? By learning how to melee DPS, first and foremost.

I have SMN maxed at 60, but it occurs to me that I have never leveled a melee class much past 30. So far, I've tried Monk and Paladin and I've just unlocked Ninja. Honestly liking Ninja the most so far, though.

I've barely touched the HW extra classes, but RDM and SAM look a lot more interesting to me. I was excited about RDM at first, but SAM is tempting me heavily, too.

Just half-step back and forth over that boundary instead of doing literal 90º flanks and rears.

Im not doing anything to get ready, I like the grind. I dont wanna be sitting there saying "well now I have to wait for end game content", gives me something to work for AS the content comes out. Next thing you see is lvl 70 people running around saying, "contact taking too long to come up"

It does stack with the exp buff from your FC, tested yesterday and my bonus exp went up by 7% from +115% to +122%.

Havn't really done too much prepping, got a Kinna weapon built up and ready for RDM, dunno if Shire weapons will be able to be done but also got one ready for SAM (or vice versa, depends how I feel) also gathered a few mats for Mog/Ifrit primal weapons for glamour. :3

I'm getting ready in more ridiculous ways I suppose (like adjusting my houses and apartment for the housing item cap increase) as for gearing my main is ready to go... I'm now slowly gearing my SMN... I do have plans to play SAM so I've been picking up gear as I can...

HW added ironworks and augmented ironworks for DRK AST MCH, so it's reasonable to expect Stormblood to include shire and augmented shire weapons. I've prepared the tomestone and gobdip, but holding off on Rowena's Tokens until they lower the price (or until I reach 2000 and don't have anything better to blow them on).

Gonna prolly rewatch the RDM trailer for the 300th time and prep some glamour so I can keep my fancy hat for as long as I can

but for real; 99/99 kinna rapier and actually trying to learn to DPS for a change lol

Start attending kendo class in my nearest area, go to library and read a whole bunch of samurai culture book












Just kidding, cant wait for the in depth details of stormblood =D

I'm thinking of giving Samurai a try in Stormblood, though only after I've capped and geared my Dragoon.

As for preparations, I wasn't really intending to make any, but just by happenstance I ended up finding a really good Ronin costume on my Paladin. I might look into finding a version of it that non-tanks can equip, so I can save it for a future Samurai.

Playing way of the samurai

Learning how to MNK since SAM and MNK share the same gear types so I can switch out if necessary.

As well as folding Glorious Nippon Steel more than thousand times so I can cut through Omega. (lol)
