Why 280 weapons?

I don't really care about the 280 weapon, since after looking into the new Diadem, it doesn't seem any more interesting than the first version of it, so I won't even bother stepping into it.

However, FFXIV has a HUGE problem with making gear feel relevant for any period of time. Every patch that includes new tomes (and sometimes other patches as well) is pretty much a gear reset. Anything older than the current best tomes is made irrelevant other than maybe lvling gear. And there's really never any sence of progression either, since you'll be doing the exact same things for your new tome gear as for your older ones (except, new expert... yay). The only place were you could get a feel of progress is maybe in the savage raids? And even there, the patches more or less reset the progression every time a new part of the raid is released. A5S could just as well be A1S as far as gear-progression is concerned, since you need nothing from the first 4 to start it, just getting tomes is enough.

This makes the gear feel rather underwhelming and pointless in my opinion, and I think that they could just as well remove all stats from them and just have everything be glamour. That is after all pretty much the only thing they'd be useful as after a couple of months from getting them.

Game design amiright? God for bid we ask for things to be balanced and for the reward system to actually be rewarding

Cash shop weapons would be far more abundant if SE ever did it. I still have yet to see a raider with a diadem weapon. Chill people.

Getting a diadem weapon is harder than clearing savage.

No, not "harder" only less likely, there's nothing hard about the diadem as far as I've understood things. Low RNG chance is not a form of difficulty, it's merely a timesink and a way to make people repeatedly do content that they don't really want to do. I don't personaly care about getting the weapons myself (I've more or less given up on focusing on gear in this game, since what's the point?), but appearantly alot of people does.

I do not understand why all the crying and complaining? Who honestly cares? Not everyone in this game grinds out Alexander or goes after the relic weapon. As others have said, it isn't going to be a large population that gets the 280 weapon as the drop rate is rare. And when it does drop you have to roll against many others. Remember people; this is just a game....

Just putting it out there that there's no roll to get the 280 weapon. At the end of the Emergency Mission, there's a loot bag on the ground visible to everyone that will have your own individual rewards: usually lockboxes, 3 pieces of gear, and some materia. If you're lucky, it also has a 280 weapon. No one to compete against for it.

Touche, either way though odds of it being the weapon for the class you want are slim. And IF it is the weapon you want you have to pray the stats on it are legit.

Mhm, I'm not trying to argue it's a good or bad thing, just clearing up information about it.
