Agreed on the seer's cowl.. it's just.. an eyesore at this point yet it's the only mask + cowl combo we have currently in the game. D:

During the Live Letter, they said glamours would only be added to the mogstation if people would show enough support to buy said items. Also it's still a factor it could be added in game as a quest reward. Please spread the word and like the thread for more Garlean and Ascian themed/inspired armors for players to wear!
For the sooner i'd say go loot the Darklight caster lvl 70 and the later go do the MSQ lvl 48 or so.
Yesssss. This has my full support! I for one would appreciate seeing my fellow RPers able to dress how they'd like. More glamour options is never a bad thing.
Except Darklight gear doesn't exactly come close enough. There is no mask with the darklight hoods and seer's cowl is an ugly excuse for being the only cowl with a mask that players are able to wear.
Except we'll be able to glamour into the Heavensward Knights attire/weapons fairly soon. They were the staple enemy of the 3.0 MSQ. Regardless of what people say of them being misguided, there were some in the Heavensward that would have likely accepted and jumped at the chance to become stronger no matter the cost. Any NPC we must defeat is considered a villain.
By that logic Hoary Boulder and raubahn are villains. Just sayin'
I agree with those in this thread that wants more standard cowl/mask combinations. Those are always welcome.
And sure, once we are completely done with ascians, i will agree to get their armor. Completely done. Killed em all off. Defeated zodiark.
The heavensward are done. They are all gone and wont return. Same cant be said for ascians. In a way, the WoL is the new heavensward being a close friend of the new leader and protector of the city, even going so far as to represent Ishgard at the grand melee.
When I wrote that I intended it to be meant as defeated, dead, permanently gone. I had no idea someone would take it as full term for all NPC's.
No he didn't specifically state chinese case shop. His statement was in response to adding the Krile outfit for player glamour.
There are a lot of NPC's that are dead and or considered to be in a state of such and we have their NPC armors. You can't really use the "They're not dead so you can't have it." excuse. We also still have NPC's that are alive and yet their armor is available for players to wear.
It shouldn't matter in this case if an NPC - whether villain or hero, is dead or alive for us to be able to obtain and wear their armor. The argument has been made so many times in this discussion but why should it matter if we can wear villain armor or not when we have Thancred and Y'shtola's 3.x Outfits and they aren't dead yet? why should it matter if they're a villain vs a hero NPC?
We can already achieve a Warrior of Darkness group look, we can already make our characters to look like any NPC, whether hero or villain, aside from those with unique models.
Explain to me why adding more villain themed armor should matter when we can recreate the NPC's via the character creator and in some cases obtain the armor as well to complete the look? Give me one good reason other than what has already been stated.
I would just like to point out to all those going 'BUT THEY'RE VILLAINS!' that we have the magitek mounts of Livia and Nero available in the Mog Station.
Now what's supposedly odd about thaaaat...oh yeah. They were villains! We can summon voidsent mounts and minions. We've gotten plenty of things based off 'villains' in the series, living or otherwise. So yeah, that's not a valid 'point' unless it comes from Yoshi-P himself.
Twintania.
As much as I hate buying anything off the mogstation, outside of fantasia's and even then I wait for a sale, if they put Nero's hammer in there I will buy it.

i will love to see the garlean armor we see in the trailer for us, is by far "for me" the best look for my vision of samurai, if SAM have a good gameplay and i can get this glamour i can be very happy to make SAM my second main.

I have a suspicion that there might be a quest in SB where we will once again have to disguise ourselves as Garleans (like the Imperial chestpiece and Imperial Pot Helm we already have). If you remember in the keynote from last weekend, Doma has some sorts of shields around it and they look Garlean to me. My thinking is that Garleans are rebuilding it and the shields only let through Garlean transport, so we might have to steal one to get in, which will also require a disguise.
Darklight Robes are ok, but only mages can wear them. Something similar that can be glamoured to other jobs would be nice to have.
Explain how there is a big difference between owning an enemy's mount versus owning an enemy's armor? If you're going to use the "Because they're dead" argument, Nero isn't dead; yet we have his magitech armor. Odin is an elder primal, yet we're able to ride Sleipnir.
I'd also like to remind those that there was a big firestorm over the possibility of adding Sleipnir as a player obtainable mount. SE declined the idea at first stating lore reasons, but after a while and on top of player request they added it.
May I also remind you of the recent one involving clouds motorcycle? Dev's said no because it wouldn't work well in the game due to the current mounted travel speed, yet they are looking into possibly increasing the mount ground speed due to many players request of the motorcycle being added.
So anything is possible if enough players wish for it.
Because mounts don't show up in cut scenes. It would be really weird to have the WoL dressed as an ascian while talking to the scions.
You have to understand this game is centered around its lore. Lore has a big priority and until there's a good lore reason to why you could dress like an ascian, I don't see it happening.
I understand the game is centered around lore but it is also centered around fanservice as has been stated by the producer and director himself.
You also have to understand that we can still wear the Scion's attire as well as Y'shtola and Thancred's 3.0 outfits and that we'll soon be able to obtain and wear the armor and weapons of all 12 of the Heavens Ward knights.
You need to realize that some people have already made their characters look like certain NPC's, including enemy NPC's. I don't see the point in not allowing further NPC armor of both enemy and ally to be released when the majority of Cutscenes in this game are only viewable by the player themselves and not everyone.
If you've watched Q&A sessions or lore panels, you'd know that Yoshi and Koji are very picky when it comes to certain things and if you asked why we don't have an ascian outfit, the answer would most definitely be "Because it would be weird for the warrior to light to wear it".
Whether you like the answer or it, that's what it would be. It's fine for us to have outfits of the other scions or npcs that are no longer important to the story but they're not going to give us one for active villains and I doubt the ascians will never not be active. They're going to drag the whole zodiak shtick until the servers shut down.
Zodiark* It kind of astonishes me that you're so on the lore train yet you can't remember his name. Lol.
There are currently 4 known Ascians that are dead.
You still haven't addressed anything about the fact that people have made characters that look like NPC's, both villain and hero. You have to remember these people who made these NPC look alikes enjoy playing the roles of the NPC's to bring a little bit of fun and enjoyment to people who play the game. The people who interact with them enjoy interacting with them and have fun when they're around. Currently very many who created NPC look alikes have means to further the enjoyment by being able to dress in the NPC of their choices armor and regalia. Villain NPC players of villains both current or previous are now getting a little light in their favor with the release of the Heavens Ward Knights armor and weapons coming soon.
You cannot keep using the "They're still current" or "They're not dead" or "They're Villains" excuse because trust me I've heard it far more in this thread from people who claim to be on the lore train yet can't even remember the name of a certain god of the Ascian's. Most of those on Balmung who RP and follow Lore have accepted NPC RPers as a thing, they've accepted them as a part of the community and a lot of them enjoy the little bit of immersion they bring.
So you might as well come out and say that you flat out don't like the idea without any excuses to back your reasoning up. It's been proven time and again that the director and producer is willing to bend their own rules to appease fans and help them do what they choose to do with their time playing the game.
I don’t see a problem with adding the glamour if enough people want it.
Hell could have it where it’s similar to the Garlean infiltration in 2.0. Dress as an Ascian to infiltrate whoever the Ascian’s got wrapped around their fingers next go around. I think it’d be funny at least.
Say Garleans are the Ascian’s play things at the time. Dress up as a lesser paragon and get information from Garleans. Or stage something like a trap; dress as an Ascian and lure your enemies out with false promise to a desired location to take what they have that you need. A lot of ways SE could add Ascian garb or something similar to it.

I want this gear in game for glamour purposes though
i wouldn't mind seeing some dyeable garlean armor in the game i personally would prefer to get them via quest's but mogstaion would work as well heck maybe even weapons based on the empire like that war hammer and canon shield they could make unique designs that we havent see before or just realse the ones we have or a throw back like the white ravens armor from 1.0. I mean who hasn't thought of at least dressing up like the bad guy's/girls? sometimes the role of a villain is more fun!
I want to support this (especially Ascian robes) but!...
Not yet. There might be a time in the timeline of the game, maybe an Ascian-themed expansion where it would be lore-wise to let it be available and only in the mog station.
It is unclear if we will finally visit Garlemald in the next expansion, maybe we can get the garlean race as well, but in any event, Ascian robes and Garlean armor (such as Regula Van Hydrus or Gaius Van Baelsar) should be available only at the proper time, and that time is definitely not yet. Either the Ascians (only Elidibus is making a presence now, as Lahabrea, Igeyorhm and Nabriales are out for the moment) should evolve into a different robes or appeareance, then make the old robes available, or wait until the Ascian saga is done with, then make it available. But having tons of people running around in Ascian robes would be a bit of a lore-breaking feature for now.
Again I support this, but now is not the right moment to do it. Later yes.
