Do you factor in time value? I'm assuming with that mentality the answer is no...

I notice a lot of player having problems with this concept and similars, like opportunity cost. In their eyes they aren't losing money but doing something else will grant a bigger profit.
Anyway, hardcore undercutting is because MB dumbs down the market by removing a lot of factors inherent to player shops, also, NQ/HQ system is not complex enough. Without changing this two factors the only way players can compete with each other is by undercutting.
I know that feel, usually i just set the lowest price and thats it, i just look to put it to an retainer from another state, so the taxes make an difference. Then they come and lower for like 2-3 gil, or 100-200... or whatever. I show wait, if its just one, ok, but if like everyone follows, i drop as well and i dont go down with 100 g - I drop from 50k to 45 or worse if im fed up >_>
I know its stupid, but i just cant help... worse are ppl who undercut by millions >_>
Why even undercut in the first place? And by 1 gil? I'm sorry, but I don't have any sympathy for any kind of undercutters. I always match the lowest price for anything I'm selling (unless it's a smaller stack of rare crafting mats, and I usually list them for higher because people will pay more for less if they don't need 99 of something). People undercutting is what causes market crashes; literally all the drops I've gotten from 151+ in PotD would have sold if people didn't feel the need to undercut, be it by 1 gil or 1,000,000 gil.
Don't undercut and then complain when you get undercutted.
Usually its not done to "be cheaper" its to put it at the top of the list when searching. (as some people have the same listing, with the same price, but selling the item in singles, on multiple alts, covering the whole page. So to make it on the page, u have to be at least 1 gil cheaper with your stack.
It's the same reason our society says "Dont kill", yet has no problem killing anything they consider "less" than themselves, and not a big deal. (such as bugs)
It's the AMOUNT and SCOPE of the act that makes it unreasonable.
ALSO, when you match the price of the lowest poster, in cases of "rarer" items, and not many listing, they WILL undercut you in a few hours or less.
Match it again, and they will under cut you.
I even tried a few times to sell it 1 gil higher than theirs, just to see if they would undercut, and they did. (a few different people at that.)
So once again, the complaint is still viable (and I know darn well if the OP posted they sold theirs 1 gil higher, you'd still think the missing 2 gil was the reason this is happening.)
