Not Sure if a Bug: The New WAR Relic Upgrade

I'm actually in favor of the simple looks. The aura/glows should never take up that much camera space; walking around with a couple of supernovas going off in your hands just never seemed appealing to me.

I fucking LOVE the DRK last step...

I meant it's the go-to glamour weapon because it's basically a shiny trophy that should look as such. If it looks like a lv20 axe when it's on your back (or as a SCH, like a public library book...) then it's not all that special. I don't want something that only looks cool when it's unsheathed.

I'm just hoping it was an oversight. I debated putting this into the bug report because of how off it seems.

NIN is so bad it actually make me angry, I feel ripped off.
Literally weathered shortswords, gladiator level 1 sword with runes carved in them.

It's almost like not everyone has the same opinion as you.

They're not going to change it just because you complained about it. No mistake was made, outside of the decision to be so overdramatic when making the thread.

Guillotine of the Tyrant was and still is hideously ugly, but you didn't see me making a thread insisting that the game should be changed to appeal to me and me only.

I started my warrior weapon quest a month ago and was really looking foward to the looks of the last step, but it does look like a level 10 axe with a shitty glow.

My raid groups warrior is passionately in love with the final Axe. He's trying to rush through many steps just for the looks. I think it's pretty :3

Can understand why people don't like it, you get some that look like actual effort was put into them and then you get the WAR axe.

No DeadRiser is right. Putting a shiny cool effect on a ugly model weapon doesn't make it look better.

Sheathe the things and you will see how truly ugly these weapons are.


In-fact the effects are so blinding on the BRD weapon, its hiding the ugly bow. I wonder if yall would like the fugly BRD relic pants back in 2.0 with a shiny animation on it.

I'd like to point out that all of the i270 relic weapons (save Bard) have fairly plain base weapon models with the fairly distinct "Anima" auras when in active use making them stand out. Warrior is just easier to notice since Warrior weapons tend to sit fairly visibly on the characters back and that the head design is much more realistic compared to almost all other giant axe head level 60 WAR weapons.

The HW relic quest has actually been very good for giving options instead of sticking with one model and just giving it different auras. Compared to ARR, which was primary one model with 4 auras and a pallet swap with the final two steps being a new model and a new aura, including the Eso "Artifact" weapons the HW relic quest has given 4 distinct weapon models and 4 different auras.

Thread title needs to include NIN in addition to WAR.

I don't mind the shape and design of the Sandungs... but the glow effect is terrible, and no effort was clearly put into it. I really do hope they improve it, compared to ALL the others it's beyond underwhelming and does need a fix. For all the effort that goes into obtaining these weapons, one shouldn't need to glamour over what is supposed to be an achievement to show off.

I actually get the point of the "subdued" Anima aura on the Ninja weapon. Ninjas are supposed to be stealthy and carrying around bright beacons is a bit counter intuitive.

Sandung is in my opinion the worst relic ever designed, maybe you like it, but I doubt it.

Taste is entirely objective. One persons bad is another person's awesome. I have hated every BRD anima till this one but I have an FC member that swears they are the best things ever.

Its also probably worth pointing out there might be another version to come. There is a 275 step coming in 3.55, in about 6 weeks time.

Sucks when something comes out you don't like the look of, but on the bright side you're bound to find a weapon glamour you enjoy if you give a gander at your options! Not everything has to one up itself for you with each addition of glamour, someone will enjoy it.

Mnk's relic is basically glowing stingray.

Nin and Blm's look even shittier.

so sick and tired of glowing effect lackluster.

Monk, Ninja and Warrior weapons are so disappointing.

I mean, you look at some of this stuff.

PLD: Blue roaring flames!
AST: Holding the solar system in your hand.
BLM: Are those freaking Thunderclouds!?

And the Monk. Glyphs on a metal gauntlet.
Ninja, words etheced into more paladin sized daggers.

They're not completely bad in their own right, but compared to some of the other stuff going on, and considering this is our last weapon design....jeez.

I feel bad for all the WARs out there. You had such a big massive axe before this new relic step turning it into a sweet tiny one. I'm happy with my DRG relic to get a face lift :P Also BRD, BLM, MCH and AST are looking fantastic...especially BRD *.*

These arent the final appearances, in the datamined files, theres icons that show a recolor/more pronounced glow. For example the DRK weapon goes from the current wispy yellow glow to a solid purple glow.

It's bad enough just looking at the preview window, but when you actually compare a basic level 1 Axe and the Relic side by side...

They all look neat, but zeta was a disaster. Bad aura placement and design. Zeta made me lose interest of using that beautiful nirvana. They should've just added a ring or a halo aura.

And you guys should stop complaining, it's not even the weapons' final form

WHM/SCH/DRG/BRD got the best of the batch, i'd say.

I much prefer the previous appearance on the rest of them.

All of the base weapons are simple. The PLD sword is as simple as it gets without the glow.

I personally like, the simple look, all the gaudy weapons are ugly as hell IMO. The previous WAR axe was a hulk of crap, same with the DRK weapon.
