tbh I really think they just allocated all their resources into the Garo event coming in a couple weeks. The rehashed fate is just a result of that. Nothing to do with lore or feedback if anything, just resources and time.

This is this thread.
Yes, talking generally about FF XIV events, I'm quite happy with them, they tend do bring different ones with each seasonal events, as well as unique special crossover/promotional events.
Even when they don't, like for this Heavensturn, you still have new seasonal items available. Also we just finished the Starlight event so it's not like it's been a long time without a different event.
SE gives you many good things, no appreciation.
SE dose one thing you don't like, the game is dying.
SE fourm community. ^
(not everyone ofc)
Its even more so for the fact that we actually pay for the damn game. I see this kind of effort in Free MMOs. If you are paying for a game and its hosting events yearly and seasonally, please actually use more assets to actually make the event fun instead of grind fest central. Halloween event was going in a right direction: ACTUAL MINIGAMES! and most of all was actually okay despite it being a stealth game, but it falls off because you only need to do it for a bit before you get everything you needed. Make it a worthwhile fun event with minigames, if needing more thats fine, and ontop of that, adding better rewards than orchestrion scrolls because at this point that seems to be the only reward they are bothering to just throw out atm instead of something worthwhile
even the outfits are super lame, Lightning returns came out with FULL outfits now this? not even the damn full set.
I assume this is where the budget for the seasonal events drew thin. At least the localization team in setting this event made up for it a bit by knowing full well how people would perceive the wording they chose. Maturity where?
Very simple minded. Events are suppose to surprise the player, not give more of the same thing, then it's just a tradition. This event was lazy, and the only rewarding aspect is the chance to stand outside the "Event" Fate and raise any poor player who doesn't realize the standard bs of this game's mechanics, mess up and your screwed. Though that's just the "Event" using community as leverage when you think about it. :/
yeah it was really disappointing , was really looking forward to it
Haven't done the event yet so can't comment on it, but I will expand on your attitude of "its optional" by saying that playing the entire game is optional (you wouldnt want a lazily made, rehash of a game). The knock on effect of your argument is that you ignore the fact that people get less interested in seasonal events as a whole. Apply that to the entire game and suddenly there are a lot of unsubs.
The "its optional" strawman is garbage because there are consequences to lackluster or rehashed content even if they are optional.
wasn't expecting much, as is my mental moto when SE adds stuff, plus as it was made for after christmas event they tend to devide effort between the 2 (1 year Heavensturn was awsome fun but Christmas sucked) I found it "okay" effort for the reward... then stayed at fate for 2hrs heal/raising ppl before turn in, which made me feal better so its a win for me anyway.
I liked the furniture. The event was short and sweet which is what I'd expect for something like new years. I'd rather they put their efforts in the original events like the Garo one.
Yes and the Starlight Celebration is a tradition of giving gifts to children, and Hatching-tide is always about collecting eggs, but they find ways to make those new and interesting every year.
A rehashed event isn't the end of the world, but it is disappointing.
The most work they put in an event is events that are paired with another IP. When it comes to FFXIV only events it follows the same tradition as update patches so it's hard to be disappointed when you already know what's coming.
The dialog was priceless though.
A middle ground between the normal events and the yokai event would be nice. Or at least let us buy the prices only with event items instead of Gil. Really sad that this was over so fast. One fate which you did not even need to finish with gold, some short dialog and thats it. I remember a Christmas event from a free to play MMO..you got a snowball pistol from an npc and with that you had to kill the snowmen that spawned in the town. If you wanted to get all the prices you really had to grind for some time. But I had so much fun. The only truly funny event for me in FF14 was the last Halloween one with the haunted manor and maybe the easter ones. All the others are just over way to fast.
Give the main items after a short quest for those that don't have much time and let us others grind for more prices. And instead of locking it behind dailies, just let the people choose how often they want to do it per day. So even if someone has only time to play it on two days, they could still get a lot of items.
