Valid point. Then again, St. Louis is becoming a huge server farm city and it doesn't have tornado issues.

True, when was the last time STL had tornado? Dallas might be good spot? Who knows! Minneapolis could be safer bet. /shrug
Anything. I'm 15+ lvl on all crafts and 21 on gathering except for fishing at 11. Just want to level up quicker. Timed Nodes? I gotta learn what it is. Thx.
...its a good thing NA is the region that invented the internet id hate to have outdated infrastructure causing problems... ^^;
well can connect to chaos :P so i guess its just on its way "north" that is crapping out.
Fastest way to level crafting is leves, FFXIV Crafting has a list of all leves but I use this spreadsheet.

Just logged in Cactuar. Seem like issue has been resolved...
Yeah looks like we're recovering. Got into Balmung for a bit, DCed, and now I'm getting in again. Before I couldn't get in at all.
nice ill give it an hour or so then try logging in XD still need a12 for gear and tome cap XD
Got kicked off while talking to my retainer. More server difficulties I'm assuming.
Still getting lobby server errors 2002.
Just gonna keep trying. Was really enjoying doing Aquapolis for the first time since...it was released. lol
These server issues have been going on for hours now, has there been no official word yet? It's pretty disheartening.
I truly love this game but all the d/cing and error is hard to enjoy, i think SE should give people something for all this frustration ,I mean we paid to enjoy a game and it's being near to impossible to play lately, The d/cing is to the point i want to play ff14 , but i am starting to just play other things while waiting to play ff14. Please SE fix this problem
if its such a big internet backbone for most of the US then why is it we are able to talk to each other here in the forums not to mention im still connected to the internet still running other online games and sites just fine. If Level 3 were this big backbone as you say then we would not have any access to these forums or other online games and sites.
first make sure you have rested bonus, next find 1 thing that is medium hard to make and mass produce it, as far as leves being the fastest not completely true you only get 100 leves then your done til they reset. and this is the most important of all make sure you have at least 1 class at 60 you get a bonus of exp for having it there so instead of trying to lvl them all up at once do one first then move to the next and last dont forget about food bonus
If said other games aren't routing through Level3, then it makes sense for them to be working just fine. Not every website routes through Level3. Not every game hits Level3 when your computer is connecting to their servers either. Big backbone, but not the only one. There are 6 Tier 1 companies that serve as different Internet backbones. But that's neither here, nor there.
Just reading up on this issue more since it started occurring, I think the issue right now is that there's winter weather up in Montreal, which is where some of Level3's servers are located, as well as Ormuco's (which others have routed through on their way to their FFXIV server). I hit either or when my system does a tracert to my server, and I am still unable to log in. If the cause is, indeed, the weather, then pointing fingers at SE or Ormuco or Level3 or whoever serves no purpose. I am no longer pointing the finger at anyone. My initial reaction only went to Level3 since, given three days ago, it was their servers having issues. And my initial tracert showed issues upon hitting Level3's servers while routing to Cactuar.
One of player on Cactuar, we were chatting on Novice channel. He said he used VPN to connect to JP, he was be able to log in. 270ms, 0% packet loss.
yes you get 6 per day but at the same time you start with 100 initially but just because you ran out of leves doesnt mean you have to stop crafting hence why leves are not the fastest way to level up
These webpages most likely aren't hosted the same place as the NA game servers. Level3 isn't the only provider, it just so happens that it is the route into the SEs NA datacenter for a lot of players. Other services are different places, either on Level 3s backbone but not in the "damaged" path, or on other significant backbones that aren't having problems. So yes, we could (and do) have access to these forums and other online games and sites.
I Agree with you full heartedly, but hopefully they address this issue while they do maintenance tonight even though i would like to play at this very moment sadly, i cannot we will just have to be patient and hope that its fixed soon.
You would then have to know for a fact that they're in the same data centre location as the _game_ (not the web) servers and using the same agreements for traffic routing etc. If you have retrieved and quality ensured this information, I am duly impressed (and a bit flabbergasted that you have been able to retrieve this information, yet still don't grasp why
is remarkably silly a statement. )Quote:

I'm still convinced this is a weather issue, but I think it should be noted that Level3 is responding to tweets about what's going on with FFXIV today, and is saying they will look into whatever is going on.
My last tracert (about 15 minutes ago) routed me through Level3 again. Took 18 hops to reach the server...and tons of packet loss along the way.
Weird. I can't log on through PC but I can log on Ps4 just fine.
Still can't log on and I've been trying since 10am and it's 3pm now... I have two characters to finish capping Scripture on before maintenance tonight... I'm not going to be happy if this issue doesn't allow me to cap. =.=
Was able to play for a few hours but back to lobby errors.
This is really getting on my nerves. Just came back to the game after a year or so and having nothing but issues not being able to log in. Any chance of at least getting a day or 2 added to my sub since I cant play? I highly doubt SE would give compensation though.
To be fair, this isn't SE's fault--it's more than likely the weather affecting the servers that players route through to connect to SE's servers. If it was an issue of Level3 or Ormuco, then that would be an issue of the provider your ISP routes you to in order to connect to FFXIV (in that case, Level3 or Ormuco). And it's not that common of an occurrence either; I've played practically non-stop for a year, and this hasn't happened as often as people seem to say it does (though, apparently Primal Data Center does have its meltdowns according to this forum, but I play on Aether so I don't experience them). This past week or so, for some reason, has been pretty rocky for both NA data centers though.
I keep trying every 30 minutes or so. No luck yet.
And I was going to start another relic today too before maintenance. Le sigh.
After some network testing I'd say the most likely culprit is another IoT-based DDoS attack. Looking at what Level3 is reporting vs. the trace-routes that have been submitted and considering the consistency of the problem over a rather long period of time. We also were facing the same problem to a lesser degree a few days ago. But what is the point though?
Yeah, same question. Why is it only THIS game?
If your other system isn't hitting the same IPs on its way to another game, then that's why.
For example, three days ago when Level3 WAS having issues with their Montreal servers (and reported as such), players that were routed to SE's servers through Level3 saw problems connecting, yet they could play other games just fine. It can be assumed that their computer/PS4/whatever did not route through Level3 to connect to the other game, and that's why they could play the games with no issue. Not all systems take the same route to connect to different games. (This is also why people are still on FFXIV right now--whatever route their system is taking to reach the server isn't hitting any roadblocks, unlike other's.)
My computer usually always takes the following route to my server: My computer > Montreal2.Level3.net > my server. Occasionally, I will see it route through Ormuco, but usually it's Level3. I don't play any other MMOs, unfortunately, so I can't try to route to them to see if they take a different route.
