1.20 patch... end of next week, end of story.
Yoshi-P is on record as saying he wants people to be able to try out 1.20 before billing starts.
So if Billing is drafted for December 15th, logically, patch 1.20 would need to be released about a week prior to that at the very latest.
They are currently rolling out info bit-by bit and these will likely continue till the all-worlds maintenance announcement a day or two before patch. The usual disclaimers of "subject to change" are there but that's normal for in-stone information, as it's simply covering last-minute panic-attacks at HQ. The only exception is that they haven't published ability cooldowns/recast timers, which means they are legitimally still working on it. => Ready in a week or two.
Ergo, I'd give it a refined window of 28th Nov to 8th Dec.
Yeah its gonna come out on Thanksgiving when all the NA are busy, letting all the JP get a head start on everything! /rage /sarcasm
See this is why they need to adopt a change to patch release date information, instead of saying early/mid/late give us a freaking day time-frame window, IE: Nov 20 - Dec 10 (essentially mid Nov to early Dec, but its worded that gives us meaning instead of leaving the adjectives to our own interpretation. Also SE would be able to rob the blind to so speak by telling their development staff:
"Let's get this patch finished and live by Dec 1st!"
Then telling the PR staff:
"Tell them [the players] to expect the patch some time between Nov 21 and Dec 10!"
That way, it gives them room in case there is need for delay, but also if there is no delay we [the players] see the message reading that Nov 21 - Dec 10 and when a patch is released on the 1st it looks good for SE because its not on the last day and seems "earlier" that intended. Word-play I suppose is what I was sleepily getting around to.
Either way makes sense and leads for less confusion and angst in the forums.
Before they plan to charge they're also supposed to be giving information on what discounts they've decided upon. Also the date they plan to start charging on. To the poster that posted that info about when the game will charge, that's not concrete evidence I'm afraid. In the past year I've checked from time to time on my account and each month it would have a different date. All this means is that for you, December 14th would be when they'd be charging you for the game if they were already charging.
i wouldn't be surprised if there is a delay, but then again i wouldn't be surprised if there is not a delay :P
but delay don't bother me, if i have to wait for a week more to get a better product i can wait, if they rush it and ruin it, to please ppl like OP. that would be annoying
Please wait till first week of December... Useless topic.
I don't mind if this patch is delayed so long as they properly played test and balance whats coming out (rofl). Having us pay for this game is a great idea, normally you have to pay people to play test your game. Getting people to test it and pay you is awesome! I'm going to have to apply this to RL and make my house pay me to live in it!
So far you would have to be pretty ignorant to claim they haven't.
Properly test and balance=!Pull out a perfect patch with no issues whatsoever out of their ass.
10 000 things could have gone wrong. "3" actually did. Let's ignore the 9 997 things that didn't and claim for an untested patch.
It's as if some people act like pulling off a major patch for an MMO perfectly requires as much effort as writing a simple sentence with no typos.
So people can bitch when it does get delayed?
"WTF SE? YOU SAID IT WOULD BE OUT BETWEEN THE 21st OF NOVEMBER AND THE 10TH OF DECEMBER, WHY YOU LIE? FAIL VALVE KEEPS A TIMELY SCHEDULE COMPARED TO YOU RABBLE RABBLE"
There's nothing wrong with what they do now, it's the players who blow it out of proportion and get impatient.
My point was with giving more exact dates SE could effectively use wordplay and make themselves look better in the eyes of their customers when in actuality they are behind schedule within their walls (and the players would never know and would continue to praise them for speedy patches). Yes it would work too its not like they would be the first company to do it.
The road map shows 1.20 being release in the second week in Dec. The week of Dec. 11th would still be representative of where the 'arrow' falls for 1.20.
That could be 3-4 weeks after the release of the class change notes (nov. 18th - dec. 11th-18th). I think that is plenty of time to pull everything together without a delay.
If you have been watching a trend has developed regarding patches. There will be a period where there is no information forthcoming on the forums concerning an upcoming patch. Then we start getting the first bits of information. This gets progessively more intense til the release. So far the time period between the first bits of info to the actual release has been about 3 weeks. With the information for this patch starting last week I expect the patch to be released the first full week in Dec.
