That might be how you see it and its completely in your right to see it that way. For me its sentient. It had its own wishes, it was able to talk with us..heck we could even assign a gender to it. I do for example believe that a dog has a soul but that a plant has none..never in my life has a plant reacted to me or answered my question. (While animals can react to us) So for me its way more sentient than any flower in the world and thus IMO I would find it horrible to trade it in for another weapon or destroy it for some parts. And yes I also have a problem with killing innocent npcs in the game. ;) But most of our enemies would have killed us anyway and lets not confuse gameplay where we go around and kill the boss x-times with ingame story. We only ever went to a dungeon once and we dont go around and kill thousands of people. We are only able to do those things again and again because otherwise there would not be much of a game.

Even in this game and setting pure murder is a crime. If we go around and just slay some innocent children than I am quite sure that we would be put in prison or killed. So there is not that much difference in that aspect to our own morale. And I am quite sure that there would be people in Eorzea that would protest against such weapons if the issue was widely known.

Like I said, its completely in your right to be okay with it. But me and others are also in their right to feel uncomfortable with that. Maybe this time we can just use the weapon further but it could also be like the last one..

I know I'm never doing it again. I've literally used mine once, I think, because other weapons came out that totally stomped on it in terms of stats and attack/defense.

In case of the minions idea, it probably will be 26 different ones, seeing as it would either be male or female depending on your choice before.

zero interest. I just find raiding to be entirely pointless. in the same way that I find pvp to be entirely pointless. if you enjoy raiding or pvp, I am very happy for you. I wish you luck on your raiding and pvp endeavors and good rolls on all the phat lewts. I see no reason to hassle with either myself.
