Looking at the sword I would be thinking that could be more of an Iron Giant that the Garleans created with thier magitek they could have created it with thier armor so people knew it was of Garlean origin. But looking at the size comparison with a Hyur I could be wrong.Quote:

Wow; double nice catch. It's been a while since I've seen productive speculations! I guess there's no reason for anyone to show up shouting things like, "Beast tribes are not Final Fantasy! This game is becoming a WoWclone!" or "Humanoid mobs ruin my immersion!"
That said, I believe you're right - these are very likely Iron Giants. In actuality, FFXI's team (likely members that would later be swapped to FFXIV) were introducing Iron Giants for Abyssea in Septebmer '10 - perhaps they got to XIV and decided, "We need some of that s#!t over here, too." in December.

I just logged on and Alfgar was in Gridania saying that the imperials were at Emerald Moss with some beasts that have never been seen before. I ported straight there but think it had finished as Roysia was not there like he said. I got back to Gridania and Alfgar had also disaperared. Has anyone taken part in this event i have not seen Alfgar talk about anything but the assult in Coerthias recently! Maybe this was part of the recent maintenance??
