lets the guild marks remain in-game and allow ppl to contribute em to gil
lets the guild marks remain in-game and allow ppl to contribute em to gil
if they gonna get ride of them i'd probably want company seals the most from the choices they gave. least i can use scrolls for crafting and save the time i wasted getting marks in first place.
Use Guild Marks to "purchase" special Guild Leves, similar to how Faction Credits work. Actually I would eliminate Faction Credits and convert all "NM Hunt" leves into Guild Leves purchasable with Guild Marks.
DoM/W: If you have earned enough Guild Marks, you are offered special "NM Hunt Leves", ie. Kill an NM.
DoL:... you are offered special "NM Drop Leves", ie. search the NM area for rare drops (Scales, teeth, hair, etc.) Success is enhanced if someone has just killed the NM.
DoH:... you are offered special "NM Taxidermy Leves", ie., learn how to make Notorious Monster related items for display in Player Housing (Stuffed Animals, Statues, Furniture, etc...like a glowing sculpture made from Ifrit's Horn.)
Guild marks should be left in place the way they are. Have the rewards be different, like signature crystals for crafters. Come on, how many times will it take to sign that bad ass piece of gear with 5 materia attached to it? As for DOW/M it can give out some extras as a fleet of foot ability but not lnc only. Make the amount hard to get as it should be, but that's how mmos should roll. Phasing out GM would only remove a possibility to make your character better than the next person, it should remain, to give you that extra ummphh.
Anybody else would like to pitch in their words?
Abolish guild marks :I Allow us to convert what we have to crystals or gil or seals or what have you at a special NPC (like the Deaspected Crystal guy) and let's be done with them.
I definitely need seals!
I made a nice diary entry on my feelings.

seals have a cap at 10k so i dont want seals. i want to be reimbursed and receive 100 gil per seal.
Guild marks, like beastmen currency, could have a number of useful purposes in this game. From trading them in for materials, weapons, and temporary bonuses to even opening up special guild specific quests.
I definitely want Grand Company seals, as long as I could trade my guild marks in over time and not all at once (I have 74k Lancers' Guild marks, even after buying everything). Gil would be my second choice.
Guild marks should be converted into cookies.
And then, well, you know the rest.
I would like to see guild marks kept in the game and usable to individualize your classes (which is what traits were supposed to be for). I like the thought of being able to be different from all the other level 50 lancers in the game. Just need more variety of options available to us.
Convert Guild Marks into Crysta...earn free months playtime?
I believe guild marks should go to guild shops where you can buy practical items for your class and some class specific armors sold at guild. Alot of new players will probably look to the guild to learn more about their class, and its kinda disappointing when you find out theres nothing there for you to get. I want to keep my guild marks.
I'm ok with doing away with guildmarks in favor of traits just because the system started to get screwy for obtaining guildmarks when you were leveling more than one class from the same city, it was impossible to get archer marks for a while because they kept giving me conj marks then vice versa. I'm glad some of the reasons why I leveled up archer (reduced enmity for my mages) are turning into just regular abilities and not traits.
As far as exchanging into what, give us an option till 2.0 comes out to slowly convert our marks to seals or gil. But they would have to immediately phase out methods of obtaining guildmarks, the year is just for the lazy people and to make sure you don't hit seal cap, plus there might not be much to buy with seals for some people, i for one would always buy a crafters/gatherer's grace!
The idea of having/going to a guild should be made cooler, more class quests, better rewards, more incentive to do them. The only reason to do class quests was to get your higher guildmark abilities (i loved the 6 quests I've done for cnj/thm combined but really no other purpose to them). When you think about the lore changes for 2.0, they could drastically change the guilds also, making them more useful beyond the guildmark system
I think they should allow us to keep guild marks to spend on housing in some form, looks like KaiKatzchen is guna end up with a mansion.
Also they can give us an npc converter who can exchange marks into either company seals or gil. If people no longer need their marks for what ever is planned with the guilds, they can exchange them for something else.
I'm sure this has been mentioned in the thread already, but here goes.
Easiest solution: Marks go away, no compensation.
Gil solution: Convert marks of all types to gil. Not very rewarding, but it's something. An NPC may need to facilitate this.
Consummable solution: An NPC who accepts guild marks appears. Marks can be traded in for consumables, dyes, catalysts, shards, and/or crystals. Consumables such as restorative and enhancement potions, dark matter, and such. This route avoids the company seal merge. Marks may be converted all to one type to easier facilitate this NPC. This suggestion was in place so that rather than adjusting the menus of each guild desk to accept guild-specific marks, to consolidate all of these adjustments with one NPC that can accept any mark (even if that means he/she has 17 menu choices to reflect each class.
Company Seal Merge: An NPC can exchange marks for company seals. This would be for players who have not yet joined a company, so they are not be penalized by losing all their marks (i.e. new players, returning players, on-the-fence players). A company seal cap should still be implemented to prevent an overabundance of seals. Especially in the case of a 1:1 ratio. Otherwise, if the cap is removed with a 1:1 ratio, with this method announced in advance, players would have the most efficient way of gaining company seals. Company seal generating activities and rewards as well as existing seals would/should be adjusted to reflect this if such comes to pass.
People keep saying they already decided to nix them. Where did that come from? Last I read, Yoshi-P mentioned that they were only considering nixing them, and how to reimburse if they decided to. Please show me the quote.
I know, which is why I said "traits were supposed to be for", because they are being removed. I would like to see them used for individualizing though. Maybe battle stances to enhance one play style or another, such as a stance for Def+ Eva- or Def- Eva+, Matk+ Mdef-, etc.
change for materials for crafters!
I have over 100k guild marks on each DoH I have leveled with guild leves.... Probably something like 300-400k total counting DoW+M. They need to combine them as a single currency and set up a shop that any guild marks work in. Make it an event or something where after 2-3 weeks they are worthless and abolish the whole system.
Good time to bump as we get nearer to the situation
Transfer all guild marks into a single item. A sort of crafter/gatherer guild mark system. Remove them from battle classes. Use crafter and gatherer guild marks, or whatever name u wanna give em, to exchange for mats and gear.
I would love some Grand Company seals. As for the conversion rate it doesn't matter but there are items I would enjoy getting and I would love to be the maximum rank but that is difficult to do with only being able to get a maximum 120 marks per leve which takes about 15-20 minutes in its self.
Maybe we could use guildmarks towards the purchase of our player housing. Like the guildmarks are a 1:1 ratio for the purchase, but once you're out of marks you have to pay the remainder of the price in gil.
And/or Guildmarks could buy furnishing etc. for your home.
That being said: I'd like the gil. :P
Also, you can already get all your guildmarks you spent on traits back. Just go to each guild and talk to the NPC. They give you back your spent marks.
First I said gil but now I said guild marks
Unlike a lot of Tanaka's other stupid decisions, I think the Guild Mark system has a place in this game. It was Tanaka's dumb idea to have abilities and traits tied into it - I found that part really really foolish - you reach the level for the skill but you're locked out of the skill until you get the right # of points to buy it? Unnecessary time sink.
However, I do think that the Guild Mark system can be revamped for the better.
I'd definitely go with something like a combination between Mihira's and Catapult's ideas and also the idea about class-specific gear (nothing too powerful, but stuff you can use along the way to level 50) or even vanity items specific to the class (stuff to wear while you're idling in town) as a means of getting you to use Guild Marks. The issue here is, there are players like me that only have a few guild marks laying around, then there's other players that grinded the crap out of guild marks, and I'm pretty sure there's no easy way to satisfy those players.
Maybe consumables that benefit/buff certain skills you use as a particular DoW class, and being able to buy potions or hi-potions for practically "free" would be a good way to allow us to burn off our marks. And yeah, retrofitting the GC system into the GM system would make it a lot more fun too, give yourself titles as you rank up in the guild - make the guild more interactive with your class.
5k guild marks = 1 month game-time.
Should just shut down the game if they're going to be removing every single last thing about the original FFXIV and re-release it later, everyone is going to get wiped anyway.
I want to use guild marks to credit the amount of synths or gatherings I have to redo in order to get my achievements.
I'm a little irked that in order to get the same reward as someone naturally would leveling these classes for the first time, I have to relevel all of them, some in triplicate. Only players who have played for a while should have the guild tokens built up, it would be a nice balanced way of letting early supporters receive their deserved accolades without removing the challenge for new players.
I'd really like to be able to purchase some of the Grand Company gear that I missed out on.
For example, the Lominsan Doublet Vest should be purchasable from let's say the BSM or ARM Guild Mark NPCs, since those Guilds are in LL, using the remaining Guild Marks we have, obv.
