This is why you run in to so many Bards who don't sing lol. I still throw up foes, army for tp or wardens for berserk and such, but i basically never sing mages anymore. You never know if they'll be pissed or not lol.

I never thought about that even though it is obvious for the cards on an AST. That really must be extremely annoying. I've played AST to 60 only in dungeons so far so I have not had that problem, once it is geared though..I'll join in on the rage. I'm sorry though, tossing up an AoE Balance and not seeing that icon go near a ranged..death glare.
That's the thing, not everyone is perfect at it, and situations come up that even if you are..you might need it. You can yell at them but just know you're supporting the entire "screw it" factor. I took bard to 60 to find out what all the nagging was about with WM. This was a mixture response, sometimes they would be low and not ask for ballad, until we all die. Then ask why didn't I cast it. Others I go forth and give them some MP unless I see a refresh icon, then it's either a lecture on what an insult it is to the healer as to why I put it up or they thank me.
You could say "Those healers just don't know how to manage their MP, not my fault" you would be right on both. Not your fault and they aren't able to manage MP like you do. Unfortunately they aren't you and I have to adjust for that as being part of a party. Just shows how much communication is important.
Same. I got a good grasp of how well I can heal you while I'm in DD mode, but when they pull everything, then shove on Berserk.. and going into DD stance, makes things difficult sometimes. It's our fault because we didn't heal them through the 4 AoE's they decided to stand in while taking a tank buster of some sort. Or because we have to focus on other players as well who are getting hit with AoE's. It's not all of them that are doing this, like I said before we try to compensate for where the party lacks..if that's in the area of survival...so be it.
I hate when people stand far away from everyone else to the point I can't heal them with aoe heals.
Also tanks who stand around when I deployment tactics everyone.
Tanks who either don't have the gear or the CD management abilities for big pulls
Tanks who insist on big pulls even when we don't have high AoE capability
Anyone who stands in the stupid
Doubly the people who do this and then bitch that they die
If I say I need a minute, I need a minute. You rush into the arena and good luck healing yourself
Other players being backseat healers in DF - I know what I need to do and I will do it and you'll just have to deal if it's not the exact way you would do it
The ranged DPS who thinks being in the next country is the right spot
Oh and the tank who doesn't know how to keep the mob pointed away from us
Oh Seven Hells, this. If I'm getting delegated to Noct stance if I'm paired with a 2nd AST (who makes no indication of leaving Diurnal upon loading-in), the Diurnal one better be making liberal use of their HoTs.
More co-healer pet peeves:
Second ASTs in general. Cards overwrite each other, if you ever overwrite my Extended/Enhanced Balances/Arrows with something like Expanded Spires/Spears, you forfeited my commendation.
When the duty commences and I cast protect on everyone (yes everyone, nobody is left in a cutscene) and my co-healer feels the need to recast protect a few seconds afterwards. No MP wasted, hardly any time wasted, and yet it feels like my co-healer is going out of their way to overwrite my buff with theirs for god-knows what reason.
"We're gonna get along just fine."

When I'm playing as AST/SCH and my co-healer is a WHM who insists on casting protect pre-pull. Please, let me cast protect, you have the precious stoneskin II, use this time to hard cast it. Nothing irks me more than having to wait those extra few seconds while the WHM overwrites my protect and then still has to cast SSII.
There's nothing I hate more than double Protect casts. Even when I'm on PLD and I get a WHM on 4-mans, I'll cast Protect asap so that they can start casting SSII, but they always overwrite my Prot after just hanging out doing nothing for like 10 seconds.
Also in 8-mans, specially when I get AST+SCH I just cast Protect in case they want to Stoneskin every party member separately, but they always overwrite it twice, even.
FFFFFFFFFF
Macros for raising that say "Stop being bad and get up" or the like.
Macros for Pacification with countdowns. Please no. If you want to macro your pacification so I can esuna, just say you have Berserk up and I'll keep an eye on the diration of the buff to esuna in the first second of Pacification.
Healing with other WHMs because I feel like they are mimicking me. Seriously. I cast Medica II, they proceed to cast Medica II, I put Regen up, they do the same, even when I use Assize they do it too. URGH
I encountered another that is more system-caused than player-caused. I hate the fact that other classes who cross-class my abilities can use those abilities when synced down but I can't use my own abilities because they're higher level spells, like Stoneskin. I think cross-classing should keep in mind when the abilities are available and provide access accordingly.
Somewhat off topic, because I am a newbie. But when assigning cross-class abilities, is it actually an advantage to place the highest-level cross-class ability in the lowest level cross-class slot? Because level syncing just shuts off cross-class slots, not abilities within a slot? Am I reading that right? Assuming that's true, why does that bother you that someone else has your ability in the party when normally level-syncing would prevent anyone in the party from having the ability. Isn't it advantageous to the party that the ability is present even if only via an oddity of cross-class skill implementation?
You get access to your cross class abilities from left to right as you assign them, and assuming you're on a Job and not a Class, you get 1 every 10 levels up to 5 total. So level syncing at 24 for example, you'll have access to your 2 left most cross class skills, regardless of what actual level they are at.
Put them in order of usefulness. as a scholar I always put cleric in slot 1 because its the most usefull one they have, and who needs protect in any dungeon under 30. having stoneskin in slot 1 for example would be useless. be less than 50 hp on your tanks in the low level content. having swiftcast as your first cross class would also be useless as you would never need it.
or a dps putting invigorate as there first cross class. at low levels you are never ever going to run out of tp unless you sprint. putting blood for blood first would be much better.
- When the co-healer casts protect over mine, seconds after mine has already hit everyone >_>
- When paladins do the same thing.
IS MY PROTECT NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU!?
;_;
- When tanks stop between chain pulls, so I diurnal aspected benefic/regen the tank.... and then they suddenly take off again to continue chain pulling
- When casters/ranged apparently need to be on the farthest end of everything when there's a lot of AoE healing to be had
- Relatedly.... When the casters/ranged stay right by the entry to the fight/arena and the tank pulls to the end...and the rest of the party are melee. Sorry, but, I'll be AoE healing the majority of the party, now (and shaking my fist at the ranged/casters as I have to single heal them after AoE healing when I probably should be focusing on mp conserving/the MT).
- Nobody stacks on the MT, when Titan jumps, for the touchdown heal any more -3-
- When I swore I hit Noct stance between pulls and SC an aspected helios on everyone... but I was still in Diurnal (regen), instead of what I thought was Noct (shields)... and then I just look like an idiot.
This one is just me being weird, I guess...
-When MT paladins stop in the middle of everything to heal themselves when they're only missing 1/3 of their HP and I'm already casting heals/benefic and not at all hurting for mp. Trust me, please? So that I may trust you? |||OTL
I thought I was the only person annoyed by this, but apparently so is everyone else. When this happens I just want to bonk them on the head and yell, "Pay attention to what you're co-healer is doing!" Also, as a sch I hate being paired with another sch because we always end up battling each other over who gets to put up shields.
Just went DF with a warrior that make criticism THE WHOLE RUN.
"You healer? Thats a dancer outfit, why you dress like that?"
"Use noc trust me iam AST too, it got buffed now"
"Give me atk card pls, iam war my dps is better"
"Dont run around guys zzzz"
*ready check at almost every mob*
"TP song pls cant u see iam at 50%" to our brd
"Atk same target pls" DRG keep attacking "small" target first
Halfway our brd left and guy keep nagging nonstop saying its not good leaving in the middle of run and continue with his "experience and heroic tales"
I block him Later on =P
When an AST going for that expanded Balance/Arrow decide to Royal Road a Spire/Ewer before having a Balance/Arrow held in hands.
That means discarding a good amount of cards (unless RNG loves you) you could be using on your party just to keep that Expanded effect up.
I hate how ranged DPS INSIST on scattering all across the map on large arenas. Constantly having to jog back and forth between the BLM and BRD to keep them topped off after AoEs, UGH.
Also people in PVP who charge deep into enemy territory out of range then bitch at me for not healing them. Sorry for not wading after you into a sea of enemies with a big sign that says "please fuck me over rough and hard" over my head?
When you're healing and there's a tank who refuses to pop any cooldowns yet grabs everything in the dungeon between bosses. I'm not a miracle worker here man, I can only do so much without you helping me.
Paladins that clemency on trash pulls (or anywhere really) when they're over 50% hp and not even taking damage fast.
Cohealers that don't understand how SCH heal.
Had an AST who went nocturnal because they saw I was in Cleric Stance almost the entire fight. He however, did not notice how I virused every Holy after Prey, sacred Soiled during stacking mechanics, Indommed after any Holy that he did not precast, the instantaneous Lustrate after each tank buster and the round the clock Embrace/ Micromanagement of Selene and later Eos after we wiped. It all went to shit after I died from no one stacking before Stasis with me. Go figure. The SCH who "doesn't heal" dies and suddenly the AST can't keep up. ;]
SCH get a bad rep about not healing, but between mitigation tactics, the fairy, and ogcd heals we easily heal 40% of the fight while performing tank like DPS.
Deployment tactics is great. I love it. But it never goes according to plan.
When an aoe is coming and the group is supposed to stack, I think "Great time to DT" So I pick a target to adlo and then wait for everyone to group together. Except when everyone stacks, we always seem to be missing one person. Yes, the person with the adlo decides to be a lone wolf and stands as far from the group as possible. Afterwords, I just glare at their character with a "You ruined everything" expression on my face.
But then, that's df for you. I'm sure it works better in a pre-made, but I rarely get to see it.
I encourage the largest pulls the tank can possibly perform, that way I can slap on Aspected Benefic/Helios and Collective Unconscious, maybe a Bole if I have it, then use Luminiferous Aether, Celestial Opposition, and Time Dilation on the tank to give them the highest amount of HoTs and mitigation I can provide, then start nuking with Gravity.
But then there's the tank that runs out of my Collective Unconscious bubble before the buff applies >.> I've learned through experience that if I stay there, with my bubble up, the tank has no intentions of running back. Thank you for wasting my cooldown and consequently making it both harder for me to keep you alive, and very difficult to DPS with all that trash on you.
When a player (usually black mage) stands too far away, and I can't pop my regens. Astrologian is not like other healers. You need to position yourself closer to me if you can, or you'll forgo my buffs.
20 yards on AoE buffs, that's the same as Medica II. I'm not sure what you're talking about =/
Oh derp, you meant specifically Helios/Asp. Helios. Still, I don't have much trouble getting that on most people.
New personal pet peeve: Cohealers in premade who say they can solo heal and make me jump to dragoon instead of scholar... and then proceed to show they have no swiftcast whatsoever when the tank goes down.
Doing fate alone and getting swarmed by fate mob, someone pop in and instead of helping me, guy just carefully hit my target but not over my aggro meter... Or just ignore me and hit different target....
Seriously? Its fate, we all in this together, if you get the aggro i'll be more than happy to heal you.
My pet peeve as a healer? That I need to DPS to be considered useful. I'm sorry, but if I can keep you up with benediction, and then a DS regen take care of you until the next bene CD, it is not what I signed up for. I constantly tell tanks to pull HUGE so I actually have to heal. If I have to hope for a derpy group in DF so I can be kept on my toes, something is not right.
My biggest pet peeve as a healer is I don't have to fucking heal.
My newest pet peeve after farming Sophia multiple times for the bird: co-healers who won't help with Raise.
Paladins who stoneskin themselves every tiny pull. I will not dps in that instance and just right click follow you as scholar with eos.
^just recently party with pally who did that on every mob. But this one is "kind" enough to stoneskin the dps too.
Its DF levelling for out loud
I have more:
- Machinists or equivalent who think it's cool to push mobs away with their fluid aura equivalent - my banes miss so many times because of this
- Protect wears off in a dungeon because everyone is so bad at dps that my dps is triple that of the tank and dps combined
Probably the most common in every mmorpg out there...
If you got aggro (as in the enemy attacking you), for the love of eorzea stop running around like headless chicken, less/stop attacking them, keep them at bay and let tank grab them back or use your whatever skill you have to somehow minimize the damage (knockback, stun etc)
I lost count how many times i see someone dead because they got aggroed then start running so far that my heal is out of range, it look so ridiculous guy just keep running either in circle (better) or run waaaay back to starting area (worse) jumping around thinking you could manually dodge their attack ala dark soul segment. Then they die and (if they can type english) ask why i didnt heal them......
I had this happen to me a lot... it makes me cringe as healer.
I had a party in Stone Vigil with a tank who is very undergeared and died on first pull. I got aggro for healing and died. Both DPS pulled the mob to the entrance and it took 10-15 mins of wiping before we killed the first pull. Mind you, tank had 10-20 gears. I know the feels x_x
This drives me crazy too. It's ridiculously petty. The difference it makes in NM content is so minimal, you're only wasting everyone's time trying to make some sort of point.
I'd also like to add to PLDs who spam Clemency when they haven't even fallen below 50%, thank you. Your faith in me is moving.
