What is wrong with Enochian? I really enjoy 3.x BLM and the focus on learning the fight to become better at ignore all mechanics. :)

I'm totally way up in the air about what I want. I want to tank so bad, but, anxiety and fear keep me from doing it. DRK is the best class in the game to me but I don't play it in dungeons because of this fear. However, if RDM does make a comeback and it IS a tank, I have no choice but to be a tank. I was a RDM in FFXI and she will make her triumphant return and I will main that forever. Either way, whatever RDM is, if it comes out, I'm playing it. If DNC comes out, depending on the animations and how it plays I may play that. If SAM is a 2h dps, I may play that instead as I reeeealllyyy want a 2h dps but not DRG as I couldn't stand it.
If RDM is an option I'll drop every class to play it in a heartbeat.
My main Job is not even in game yet... you can see how stressing this is for me.. since I have been playing from 2010......
So yah... Ill bee waiting and switching when its released. As I have no interest, really, in any of the Jobs out now.
soon as sam is added I'm switching
It all really depends what jobs come out and how they are implemented.
If dancer comes out and is implemented properly i may consider, otherwise i will remain blm
Will play any proper hybrids with distinct mechanics. If more role-locked homogenized bull, I'll just keep giving or receiving 1-minute Raging Strike / Rampart or 30-second Trick Attack cards. My luck's been ridiculous with those since the patch.
Dragoon til i die! (Insert loldrg joke here, dont worry i can take it)
Red mage.
Otherwise, I might go from BLM to AST
This. In FF11, my main were the Far East jobs (MNK, NIN, SAM) at different points through the years, but for most of the time it was SAM. I'm really hoping to have that SAM DD once again. I'd switch to that in a heart beat. Not much of a tank (never DF'd one) so really hoping SAM (if it comes out) isn't a tank.
I'll switch for RDM if its released in 4.0, no questions asked. Otherwise, I'll stick to the DOT extendling flying snot that I'm used to.
If red mage shows up... spent 10 years on red mage. I was always a lil disappointed that it never made it to xiv even in 1.0. I feel like its that home I've been missing.
That's a good question. I'm going to have to see how the class changes are and then go from there. I'm ultimately leveling everything though.
Give me a DRK dps with Scythes and i will be the happiest floof ever to exist.
Summoner for life D: just like back in XI.
Even if they drastically change the job so I no longer recognize it or it stays 100% the same. Thematically I am a summoner and that is where my heart lies.
If a one handed caster style dps comes out then that, if not Samurai dps. If no dps then I'll keep trucking on dragoon until a dps class I want to play comes out. Woah to no moar Dark Knight deeeps
it depends on many factors. We'll have to see what happens with the job simplification they promise in 4.0. It also depends what new jobs are added.
I don't mean to be a party pooper, but shouldn't this thread wait until we actually know what job(s) are being released in 4.0? Not to mention what, if any, major class changes, added skills, etc. are going to come with the expansion?
There's been a lot of speculation about what the new jobs will potentially be (pretty much everyone thinks Samurai and Red Mage for sure, the rest want like Dancer and Beastmaster, among others, for the 3rd job that will likely be in). It just gets people's opinions out there, really, and it gets people more excited for the expansion. Since we pretty much know where the expansion will be taking us now (because MSQ, not gonna spoil it), people are already thinking about what we know and don't know about that area's society and what jobs will and won't fit for that region.
Speculation does not mean the jobs will be released in 4.0 or ever. When Heavensward came around NO ONE expected a job like Astro or Machinist. They were all leaning towards Agent or Musketeer with the gun tip off and something like Astrologian wasn't even considered if I recall correctly.
I wasn't saying we will certainly get the jobs in 4.0 or ever, nor was I saying with certainty that we will get new jobs. I merely defended why people are talking about this. It gets people excited for the new announcements whether or not the speculation is correct. That's the point of it.
If we get any new jobs, the new jobs may or may not reflect what was speculated. People realize and understand this, but it's no reason to not speculate. People are excited and want to talk about it, no need to be a party pooper because we don't KNOW what we're getting, if anything at all :P
Also, another surprise like Astrologian was would be very welcome in my opinion.
Still hoping for Red Mage and/or Dancer though. Especially the former considering Ilberd in that one cutscene, or somehow getting a job based on 3.4 MSQ SPOILER IN BOX. I'd like that a lot (BUT IT WON'T HAPPEN, that I'm certain of lol)Alisaie's Aether Sword in the 3.4 MSQ
Ya no need to ruin the fun a simple discussion.
Besides we should be getting the Official reveal very soon as it was mentioned a few month back Yoshi-P plan to reveal the New Jobs during a event in Fall 2016.
On topic:
To be honest the only thing that would probably make me switch Main Job in FF14 would be a Gunblade Job but that promise been gathering dust ever since Yoshi-P said in 2.0 that he wanted to save that idea for once we gain access or begin moving towards the Garlean Empire. Of course that means chances of the Official Gunblade job release is S.O.O.N. during or after the Garlean Empire Expansion.
S.O.O.N. = Sometime Or Originally Never
I was Noct AST before buffs half the time and I'll probably stay on Noct AST. Any reworks will just be a bonus. Maybe they'll give me a Holmgang effect for Collective Unconscious for the people who scoot outside of it like I'm trying to kill them with an AOE. I can dream.
Don't think I'll ever switch. if something interesting comes along (looking at you battle cleric/battle mage) I'd add it to the classes I play.
OP - thx for posting this, interesting topic.
Ya if Samurai or Red Mage, which ever is the new DPS Job, end up being interesting enough then I may switch my main to that. If there is anything I enjoy playing as next to a Gun and Technology type character it is a Sword User and Magic Sword user type character.
Before Guns characters the Sword DPS type character was my play style of choice back in the day before RPG and MMORPGs introduced Gun classes as playable characters.
I will play a dancer no matter what especially if dances are race specific.
Given how fantasias are a thing and FFXIV emphasises being able to level everything on one character, I think it's safe to say I have more chance of winning the lottery 10 weeks on the trot with the same numbers each week and being the ONLY person each week to win the jackpot.
I started as MNK. Switched to NIN the moment it was available, and haven't looked back since.
That said.
If they release Dancer, I'll switch to that in a heartbeat. Especially if the dances are gender specific and the ladies get to do something on the sexier side with lots of energy, while still maintaining some semblance of grace...Oryantal maybe? Crap, just dye my hair purple now and call me Shantae if that's the case.
I would hate it if the dances were gender neutral and both genders were forced to just do the same bland moves with zero masculine or feminine identity respectively.
Going Samurai Strong Style.
I really don't know. Astrologian fits like a glove to me. It'll depend on how the new classes feel, not just how they look. I never expected to like Astroligian, but it snuck up on me.
Is there any solid knowledge on new jobs yet? Because the only job that would probably get me to switch 100% sure is Time Mage...
Depends on what is announced. If we get a mystic knight class (i will settle for enspell red mage variant in this case), blue mage, or necromancer, I will switch. I may potentially switch for a beastmaster class as well. Otherwise I'm sticking with my current main.
It depends on the jobs. I'm a tank main, WAR specialist, and I'd need to see what changes they make to WAR as well as what the new tank job is. If the new tank is a Beastmaster you bet I'm going to pick that up and power level to 60. If it's Samurai...hmm. We'll have to see how the job plays. No matter what I'll get them to 60.
Summoner was my main during 2.0 and it remained so in 3.0. I like my main job and wouldn't think of switching on 4.0 either.
