My girlfriend comes: Race problem

It's not subjective in all cases, you can see the same thing over and over and over again and absolutely everyone finds it gets stale eventually. Picking the safe option (even if you like it) is still picking the least interesting option.

Well I can't tell how many tells I get when I just stand around in a town about how "awesome" he looks , same thing is dungeons. He far from blends in without going "crazy" on his appearance or even attempting to make him stand out. I also get "I recognised your hair" alot too lol.

It doesn't matter anyway because what you said just isn't true, if you saw a Roe in the standard crowd on a server that would be the character that instantly draws your attention because they stand out straight away which is a shame because it shouldn't be that easy. Fem Miqo'te and Au Ra are samey enough for me to have to do double takes as I've got the characters race wrong at a glance (doesn't help you are both short as hell :P).

I get told how pretty/unique/cool I look quite frequently thank you ^.^ you definitely have the elezen elitism rp role down to a science though.

:p how about everyone plays what they find interesting without being called boring. It isn't safe to make a character you feel a connection to, it is wise, and fun.

Kind of like playing as an elezen with super special hair. I could say that I have seen alot of people rocking that hairstyle and call you out on playing it safe by doing what everyone else is doing but who cares? If you like it you should keep it.

I've had all sorts of characters~ elezen, hyur, highland hyur, au ra, lala, roe~ they have all been amazing. But I always wind up going back to my miqo'te because she fits me the best and I and my friends like her~

Also, the first people I notice in a crowd~ are the people who I find appealing to my own tastes, because different people have those. Also all roe players, I think he just called you fat >.> saying that you immediately stand out in a crowd. As someone who has gone roe I am offended for you.

I don't pay attention to looks of random ppl. I notice clothes and weapons.

Is it elitist to say there is a disproportionate amount of Miqo'te and Au Ra running about and that both races look alike? It's called making an observation... It's the same as calling out Blood Elves on WoW... You are being so defensive and passive aggressive because you know what I said is correct. Picking to play as a Hyur is playing a less common race than those two (though not by much to be fair).

also~ not so rare on lamia, and there are also a couple of thug npcs wandering around with it~ sooooo yeah. Nobody is that much of a rarity I know plenty of elezen/roe/male miqo'te/guy au ra characters~

You didn't address the fact I stated a "disproportionate amount" of Miqo'te and Au Ra in comparison to other races and both of them look samey (how convienient for you). Rarity doesn't matter so much as not having dungeons full of cat ladies and lizard ladies all the time.

Things are getting Sirius. Was this thread not created to help a player suggest a race for his girlfriend's character? If I may, Highlander and Roegadyn can be great choices. Girls with shape are sexy; they're only "butch" if you nake them. Check out the Highlander/Roe threads and get her inspired.

Best suggestion I would have for you is to scour these forums and find the "Show your...." threads and show her some of the shots that were taken. Lots of times, people will try their best to show off their characters in the best light which will allow her to see the races for what they are.

Good luck. Me and my wife were rather simple choices: She went Miquo'te and I initally went Highlander due to 1.0 but race changed to Roe male. Lost my Legacy tattoo, though. Kinda sucks. =/

Femroes rock!,Female Elezens look amazing!,and Highlander Females have very expressive and energetic emotes
any of them are a win! and you'll stand out in the crowds of Miqote and Auri

As some others have suggested, before this turned into whatever it is now, have her test out different characters to see what she likes :) It's pretty quick these days to get right into the game where you can check their running style, emotes, battle voices, etc. She can even go play around on the Market Board and test out different clothing styles on the characters to see what she thinks will look best.


Also, don't let her be discouraged by the people talking down about certain races. If she likes a popular race, who cares! The character is for her enjoyment, not for others. There is a reason why they're popular in the first place :)

It's funny you say that because I saw your character icon the other day and was admiring her! As I said, what's boring is completely subjective, your Miqo stood out to me among plenty of Roe's and Highlander's in the thread. :)

We are limited to a few face types and two clans - people will create characters they like. I actually see some characters with unusual skin colours and crazy hair and sometimes it just looks like they're trying too hard, rather than playing a character they actually enjoy playing.

Female highlanders are gorgeous, get some unique customization options, and they're one of the rarer races. I may be biased though. :D

The issue here is, attractiveness is highly subjective. Personally I wouldn't play an Au Ra, Hyur midlander or Mi'qote because I find them too dainty (they are pretty and cute though, and some people want that the most, which is fine!). I seem to go for the extreme height races, as my main is a female Roegadyn who I don't try to make look fierce and an adorable female Lalafell. :) I also really like female highlanders, I think I prefer the physically strong female look, but not everyone does.

I'd suggest to do as already mentioned several times and check the "Show your [insert race here]" threads for all races, even ones she may not think she would play - she might be surprised by a face/hair combo, or exclusive gear like racial/hempen! Also try making a character, there's always the possibly to recreate if she's not too far into the game and there's always fantasia!

I'm always like "Wow!" when I see a female Elezen, female Roegadyn and to a lesser extent, female Highlander as they're much rarer than the other females, I don't know if she cares about being a rarer race/gender or just about aesthetics. Either way, I hope she finds something that clicks for her and enjoys the game. ^^

I can post a pic of my femroe as well as my bf's alt who is a female Elezen if it'd help also. :)

I forgot to mention! Make sure your girlfriend jumps into game with her character and tests it before she actually creates one.

I've played almost every race and used so many Fantasia potions because of slight things that really bugged me (the way they ran or their emotes). I've also made some characters I thought were gorgeous in character creation but looked really odd in actual game lighting.

Just a heads up!

Your gf should choose her own race and not make one based on anothers preference, that's kinda silly.

Wooowww thanks all!! ( i put likes to some of you for the suggestions), seems Alexandra, after dowload the character creator and try to make all characters likes Female highlander, she in RL is a bit """tomboy""" with short hair and love go to Gym so its very probably she gets Highlander.

She likes some classes (lancer, pugilist, rogue... ) phisical dps but she likes too and would try Dark knight (i guess this last she believe as a dps too) but friend says me that "black" au'ra have the best initial dps stats, but i find in google highlander has too.

Other thing is Highlander are prety tall and my midlander`s height is only 185cm im not sure if minum highlander female height is above or less than this

I understand the desire to not want to play a highly popular race. Though my main is a Miqo'te, it's male. While male Miqo'te are still a few drops in the bucket, they are not as many as compared to female Miqo'te. Personally I have a hard time wanting to play short races in games, such as Gnomes, Dwarfs and Lalafell.

For now, I'd personally go with Highlander Hyur. My character on Behemoth started out as a Highlander.

I do highly recommend one day making a female Roegadyn alt to play around on. My Roegadame is pretty adorable in an "awkward giantess" kind of way.

I can confirm as a female highlander that is the shortest height I am as tall as the tallest Midlander male. so if you don't want her to tower over you I would suggest her going with shortest Highlander Female. (also gotta go fully chiseled cause those abs!!! so awesome ^_^b)

All races have long necks, they do this to be lazy with necklaces. Elezen are still Dhamals though.

I think one person said the best option is to go to show me your "race's name". Does she want to play the game as herself? Like. Different type of being? Does she want to have something attractive to look at when she is playing? There are so many questions that she has to consider. Send her those thread pictures and let her decide on her own at least she ask you for your opinion.

I find the Elezen to be the most exotic and beautiful creatures in Eorzea. If she is going for aesthetics, I don't think you can make a better choice. Highlanders have the most striking features of the two Hyur female choices. They are built like track athletes, are the most well endowed of the two, and have piercing eyes. Midlanders are the dolls. They are ultra feminine, ridiculously pretty, and a lot smaller than the Highlanders. They are not as striking, but they are pleasant.

I was torn between highlander and midlander but ultimately decided with the latter as I felt the frames on the highlanders are just too large for my liking. When I put the WHM AF on the Highlander version of my character, my response was, "nopeee" and switched right back. :p

Ask your GF if the main job she wants to play factors in at all. I know I personally would have made my character Elezen if I decided to main something like BRD, or DRK.

There are a lot of miqo'te around because of the combination of being devastatingly alluring (both genders) and typically giving birth in litters.

Be miqo'te. It's just nature taking it's course.

A quick glance around any given population center in-game says otherwise. Juuuuuuust sayin'.

I think the best thing is to let your girlfriend log in as those 3 races and just play around with them. Letting the community pick is a bad idea, let her pick herself.
