Yo Kai Watch Event

Nope... don't care. I'll be passing on this event.

This seems like fun... i love youkai but i haven't watched or played Yo-kai Watch yet.
Ill at least get a few...if not all

I've never really heard of Yo-kai Watch until now. Although I may look into it, I do know I'm going after those minions, mount or not.

Weapons.... Meeehh I might if I'm bored enough... Or need a break from the seemingly endless Lore Tomestone grinding.

While I don't like the show (it's on netflix so I gave it a try), the minions and weapons still look fun. I don't so much mind the fate grind, but my connection is rather horrible which makes it difficult to get through dungeons without either forcing people to wait for me, or slogging through the queue again because they didn't wait.

I'm a 33 year old man too, but I love what you call "fluff centric" content. You obviously are not part of the target audience for this event - just like how I'm not part of the target audience for PvP. I may not like the fact that certain gear and achievements are tied to PvP, but I don't complain about the devs alienating me from the PvP content because I know I'm not part the target audience.

So have fun doing stuff you do like while the rest of the players like me and I enjoy this event.

It sounded more like they were using those descriptions to explain bits of what FFXIV is like to prospective new players, using the crossover to draw fans of Yo-kai Watch into this game.

Anyone else remember when the first cross-over event happened Joshi-P discussed how they'd be careful with them not to disturb the FFXIV world due to concern from the community. Well now this is what, the second non-Final Fantasy related cross-over event? I'm all for content and events but I don't like FFXIV being turned in to a Square Enix billboard for advertising other games they make. Especially with the lack of content in the game right now an no relation to any FF world.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they'd at least stick with games/shows that fit FFXIV's aesthetic a bit better. That mount? Ugh. It looks like a kiddie ride at an amusement park.

Yokai Watch event is all fun collecting and all but I've got a big concern.

1) you need the respective minion out to get the weapon coins
2) you can't use a minion with a chocobo out
3) when the hype dies down people might end up needing to solo these FATEs. Many jobs don't sustain well in FATEs without a pocket healer, especially when it's scaled up and you find yourself alone

Moonfire faire was august 11th last year so it's still a bit off for now, Rising is coming soon too most likely.

(actually there is an achievement callled more inventory slots please , that ask u to obtain all the Yo-kai weapons. and rewards the mount)

its not that at all.. its the fact level 5 is lazy and just recolours the same monsters... ni no kuni is prime example of the laziness really only about 40- 50 unique monsters to tame rest are just skin changes

heck im walking around 8kms a day with my missus doing pokemon hunts lol so yeah :P

and i'm pretty sure you can't dye it either.

Wow they certainly are hideous, what the hell are SE thinking putting items so ugly into the game? Are they trying to completely alienate any one over the age of 5? Is it april fools already?

Ugh, I like the minions and plan on collecting all the items, but is anyone else kinda sick of seeing atma being brought back? I guess I can understand now why the event is going to take around 2.5 months and not your standard 14 days.

Of all the items they're offering, only 3 interest me, 3 minions: Venoct Robonyan F-Type Blizzaria. Of all the weapons they offer, only the summoner look interesting, kind of reminds of Necronomicon by Lovecraft, but I don't plan on getting it.

wait a min , i need to farm fates wearing the watch to get coins , in order to get a minion.......with that minion summoned i farm more fates for a chance on medals to get the weapon.........and i need to do that x13 in order to get the mount?

As I recall (and correct me if I'm wrong), we knew about the event back then but did NOT know that the majority of the progression for it was going to be tied to FATEs.

Youkai watch is from a genre of games I refer to as "Not-Pokemon." I.E. a game where you catch various adorable creatures to level them up and battle against other adorable creatures... but it's definitely not Pokemon, it's completely different! (Or so they like to believe.)

I dunno. I mean, I'd expect something like this from FATEs since nearly every single seasonal event we had for 3 years always used FATEs. It gets you to do the event over and over again until you can get all the items.

And when I asked about the complaints, I meant more about how people are crying about immersion and ugliness, even though we known about it for a good while.

Incidentally I find the SMN's weapon the least interesting and just looks like a metal book spoiled by that thing's face. At least everything else has some sort of cute factor going for it, at least.


SMN and SCH's primal token books look way more Necronomicon to me.

For me it looks like SE got paid from that Yokai Watch developer to have there 2.5month long event in our best RPGMMO we have, to get famous and actually known what Yokai watch is! >.>;

We've been told that Yoshida and the director of Yokai watch are actually friends and decided to do the event while out drinking one night. I'm sure there was some money exchanged though since the two games are both sharing characters with each other.

I'm finding google results about Yokai watch outselling pokemon. I dunno if its game sales or merchandise and I also don't know how large the sales gap was, but I'm guessing that the Yokai series is doing decent over in Japan (or wherever its been beating pokemon in sales.)

Not sure if its true but on reddit someone posted that the Yôkai Watch will use a medallium, where the tokens will be stored. Best reaction on reddit: BUT TACKLE BOX WHEN!? :rolleyes:

Hopefully they just use it to test it for future features because otherwise its a little sad that such a one time event will have a extra window and something like the tackle box seems to be impossible..

Edit: it seems that this is only for the normal medals and not for the legendary ones..those still go into our inventory and any item that is thrown away cant be reclaimed by the GMs.

One thing that gets me though is whatever happened to the Phantasy Star Online 2 cross-over. Seems like that has been completed forgotten or ignored and jumped to this one. Hopefully its just on the back burner if anything. In the end though I am still looking forward to this, not 100% excited about the mount but the weapons do look pretty cool and I can't say no to more minions. I just hope they interact somehow. Kind of a disappointment to see the newer ones do nothing when near each other unlike the mogs or the Courel/Wolf pup.

Yokai Watch is insanely popular in Japan, just not anywhere else. If anything, it's the other way around lol. Yokai being in FFXIV might actually get it more players.

IIRC when they had him on during one of the live letters they said Level 5 did most of the work for this event, and the CEO of Level 5 is a big fan of FFXIV.

The only reason I wasn't complaining about it back then and for the Dragon Quest even was because I was on hiatus during that event and for the past two weeks I've been playing dark souls...

actually the Calca and Brina minions from patch 3.2 and the cheerleader minion from 3.3 are dancing together. but not every minion can be a special snowflake ^^
