I've been trying for the past few days I got it to download with no problems on 1 of my ps4s but the other didn't work I have rebuilt the database I have uninstalled/reinstalled but now instead of having problem downloading 1.3gb it's not 13gb+ all the others
I uninstalled then reinstalled but now I have 13+GB that it won't download instead of 1.2GB it worked on 1 of my ps4s but not the other I'm pissed but at least I can still play on one of them
I'm not sure I can do the uninstall/reinstall. At least not without having to spend the $20 on the game each time. I converted mine from my PS3 and I think I've read a couple posts saying without a PS4 disk, if I delete I'll just have to buy it again from the store. I have an e-mail into customer service. Will keep the thread posted.
I'm having the same problem here; recently bought the game for PS4, included both ARR and the expansion.
The download keeps stopping at around 1050MB before bringing up the error screen: "Unable to download patch files."
I've been trying everything I can, such as resetting the router, using a LAN cable, changing DNS, IP, and MTU settings, ...to no avail.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, but that also didn't work.
I really hope Square fixes this issue soon.

Regarding your request for account support. Please find your answer below.
If you are disconnected during play or logged out due to an unstable connection, there is a possibility of a transmission issue.
Please try these steps to see if they resolve the issue.
1)Perform a connectivity test on your PlayStation®4
Test to see whether your PlayStation®4 is properly connected to the network.
From the home menu, select "Settings" > "Network Settings" > "Internet Connectivity Test" to perform the test.
2)Perform a system update on your PlayStation®4
Perform the most recent system update and then try a version update for "FFXIV: ARR"
The update can be performed from the home menu by selecting [Settings] > [System Update] > [Update via Internet]
3)Restart communication equipment
Turn off the power of your communication equipment for 30 minutes to an hour.
Unnecessary data accumulated on the equipment will be initialized, possibly allowing for smoother transmission.
4)Update firmware of communication equipment
Update your "firmware," the program running your communication equipment.
If firmware is outdated, your communication equipment may not function properly, so please update your firmware before trying the version update again.
*Consult with the help manual when updating firmware. Also, even if your firmware is up to date, rewriting it may improve the situation.
5)Check security services of your internet provider
Depending on your internet provider or service plan, there may be security services included.
Please confirm that these security services permit online gaming.
6)Remove routers
In order to diagnose the issue, remove routers and hubs temporarily.
*This may change your connection to a broadband connection. Please consult with your provider for connection settings.
7)Check router settings
Check the settings of security functions (such as SPI) for your router.
Also, use a port that can be used for the game.

None of the above worked. One person has mentioned the port forwarding worked for them. I am still curious how much data using my phone as a mobile hotspot would use if anyone knows. Seems to be occurring with a lot of people doing a new install of the game. Mine occurred because I had to swap to a bigger HD for my PS4.
For PS4 owners I guess that gives me one idea. The full game should still be on my old HD. There is a fair amount of initial set up to putting in a new one, but wonder if once that is done if you can just swap the two in and out.

No real fix to this that I could find. What I finally ended up having to do is get the fully patched version off my old HDD and do a system restore with that. Pain in the ass, but may be important for anyone else that swaps out their HDD on PS4. Most apps/games you would just re-install, but if you're gonna do an HDD swap, that's one item I would transfer with if you have a fully patched version.
Check to see if your DNS server is set to a static address , or if it is set to Obtain IP address automatically. It should be set to Obtain IP address automatically. This is what fixed my issue.

So, went through all of this over the past few days. My wifes computer died, so we elected to get a PS4 instead. Fresh new purchase, all set up, etc etc, and then... unable to download patch files. Odd as my own PS4 works fine, and nothing about our setup has changed.
Attempted to forward ports, and change this setting, and that setting, changed the direct connected my PS4, the whole thing - and nothing has worked.
The mobile hotspot option isn't one for me - I have a 3 gig a month plan, so can't use 13 gigs, can't afford that kind of overage.
I have to say that I'm terribly disappointed in Square Enix on this one. The initial report my wife put in, we attempted the chat. We got slammed with a wall of text about opening up the TCP ports - and were then DISCONNECTED on before we could explain that the router is not the issue here. Great customer support there.
The second time, once I had jumped through all the hoops they wanted, we elected to call them. Thankfully, weren't on hold long. But, the big solution this time was that we should wait for off peak hours. "We've had some reports from the midwest that this is happening."
If it's happening to more than one person, SE, then something on your end is the issue. I love this game dearly, but the way that I've seen people being treated by your support the past couple of days - such as the blatant lack of response from your company - is rapidly souring me on you.
I have also experienced this issue, but I believe I found what my problem was and was able to finish patching and play. I found that the AT&T internet was preventing it from going past 1049 mbs. As soon as we used a different internet, it magically finished patching and was able to play. Hope that helps.
I'm having this issue on my desktop and laptop now. CyberGhost is not working for me at the moment.
Edit: At this moment CyberGhost has passed the 477 mb mark and seems to be downloading slowly but steadily from a server in Germany... I'm conflicted on whether I should halt CyberGhost now to potentially speed the download up, or just wait until it reaches 1500 mb to make sure the problem is long since dealt with...
Edit #2: Turning CyberGhost off immediately caused the patch to fail. Guess I have to wait.
I see this thread was started a month ago and people are still having this issue??? Has SE said anything besides the canned "try this list of bs things we hope will work"?
I managed to get the game running. I feel bad for Ps3/4 players since they might not be able to use Cyberghost to fix it. If I were in their situation I'd unsub and find a game with a company that can at least respond on the forums to appease paying customers who aren't receiving their product.
If your on ps4 try the method I posted, it worked for me and another buddy of mine.
A friend of mine is also having the same issue, so i've been digging into the forums and found nothing on the subject, nor a way to fix the issues. It's always towards a certain point that they get the same error code. They are also PC players. I believe it's definitely on their end seeing as their computer isn't the issue here, and all these robot responses haven't helped at all. You'd think they would notice by now.
If any of them are reading this, I'm hoping they have some actual fix on the way. :mad:
This is getting ridiculous....no response from square whatsoever and the whole "its not our fault its your connection fault" robo response is getting old. THIS IS A SQUARE PROBLEM. I have not been able to play in 9 days because of the lack of effort from them. ive bothered trying everything either someone listed on here themselves or what there list of to try responses is. ITS BEEN A MONTH FOR SOME PEOPLE!!

UPDATE: On PC I changed the Direct X setting to Direct X 9 and it seems to be going. Gonna be a long night making it so we can play together again tomorrow.
UPDATE 2: Going on 6/27GB for the update now without any issues. It was stopping at about 500MB. I'm gonna call this fixed for me.
I play on PS4. My wife is on PC. I run a wire to my PS4 and it doesn't have any problems. Have you tried going wired if you're on wifi? If so, then double check your network's port forwarding configuration. I have mine set like this (all are set to TCP/UPD for simplist setup):

Hi ev1 just would like to apoligize for my spellings in advanced so ive been playing since beta me and the mother of my children both play on ps4 for 3 years never have had a problem with downloading ne of the patches for the game my daughters 12 th birthday was this weekend i bought her a drake ps4 downloaded the combo arr hw pack evthing was smooth until after the initial setup wen it came to download the patches black screen at 1050 mb i have open the ports rebuilt the database formatted changed dns changed mtu nat type 1 reinstalled the game 4 times every ps games works np im raging i love square since i was a kid we all love 14 if we pay for this why no fix or ackknowledgement of it the forums on reddit blew up and everywhere else im bangn my head against the wall my kid bday ruined she loves the game i f ally get her on account and cant even get her started wat bout lost days and also if i cant get it fixed i have to buy a gtc to even keep trying to just fail at 1050 mb even after i reinstalled it would reach bout 3 gigs and error 20512. 25008 and the 204 something everytime plssssss help square i have faith in u i wont resub mine or my spuses account until then im upset for my kid last week of summer break ruined by a bug in the launcher or sumtin thx for hearin my rant B
Well this past saturday not sure what happened but when i would launch the game all i would get is a blank white screen with bg music. (Friday i played no issues) Sunday was the same, soo i decided to re-install it all A Realm Reborn + Heavansward) and still had same issues. Today i finally get login box and all info to finally show up and had to download patches. Low and behold i have same error as you all.

I have had other issues in the past but not so severe. From the not being able to even get a login box to this, i really do not want to but if problem does not get resolved soon i may have to unsub
No sense of paying for a game can no longer play
No clue why, but I started this again before I went to bed.(late hour), and woke up with it done. Have no clue why time of day would make it easier to download, but there you go.

Finally got it to update so i figured out after the 1st time setup and it trys for the 15 gigs or whatever wen it would failed it would begin that dreaded get to 1050 mb and fail loop. Basically dont waste your time if it fails the 1st time after the 1st time setup it always fails at 1050mb no matter what it only really tried after u deleted it redownloaded the whole game . You have to 1 shot the download or redownload the whole game im sorry my sentences were incomplete im dumb af but just letting people know what finally worked for me

Breh dont give up yea it fricken sux for example i have uverse and my father in law has xfinity try goin to a friends house they may have a better modem and router u may get lucky like i did tryn from a different isp but it would only go futher then 1050 mb if i deleted and redownloaded the whole game after each fail it was the worst not that se cares lols their workin on it one would assume they just cant figure it out but keep tryn and good luck
Well the solution given (i think in another post) of switching isp is not a solution at all, nor is reformatting the hd on PS4.
I have been using the same isp for over 2 years and have had no issues with previous updates/patches. Something litteraly broke the game.
I agree its not however it did work for me i was on the edge of my seat the whole time do wat u have to do my friend keep tryn ull get it se needs to do sub restitution for the days lost

Having the same issue with no fix I think I have literally tried everything. I had to reinstall my OS on the same machine same internet connection that had FFXIV on it and working just fine other than a bad hard drive causing it to be slow. I can not get this to install anywhere. On my computer I have tried running as admin, disabling firewall and antivirus, free vpn, googles DNS server, port forward and DMZ both and one at a time, connect straight to modem, completely uninstall and install on second hard drive, and even install on a completely separate computer and got the same error message in hopes to grab the patch file and through it on my computer. It always fails on H2014.5.24.0000.0000g with or without heavensward i have also tried that as well. I am so close to getting my anima weapon all that work and i cant complete it. This is so disappointing that there is no fix or at least not even the patch files. I plan on chatting with support later today if I hear anything ill update there seriously needs to be a fix for this I have been subbed since launch and have not canceled it even when I took breaks.
Not to mention this is a fairly OLD issue. I emailed support but highly doubt they will be of help, probably will just say it's my isp ....

These ports I have not tried they were not listed before so I am going to try and report back. I want there to be a documented answer for anyone else online. I really hope this works.

Well this is really sad and disappointing. I tried everything they said after waiting a 2nd time to chat the said to diable startup, try another hdd, and making sure i had admin rights. Im gonna try a few more times then if no success unsub. I wish i could just find the stupid files somewhere.
I managed to finally get mine to download using CyberGhost VPN. Bought a month sub, because the VPN would kick me after a few hours connected.
This is the only game, I have had troubles downloading.
