I like my 17k fire IVs so BLM for me.
It also helps that I've levelled all the other classes, and blow at all of them lol, I'm not so good at handling too many oGCD buffs, so BLM having only a few suits me better

Mine is Brd, but I definitely preferred the pre-Heavensward version. Everything from Heavensward feels like a mixed-bag of neat to clunky & cumbersome and needlessly bloated. Seriously, how is Warden's Paeon and Wanderer's Minuet in any way organic.
Yeah, I feel for bards. Honestly, it feels like it was originally designed for MCH playstyle with their procs and instants negating the movement issues from Gauss Barrel somewhat. Then they decided to slap it on bard without giving a thought to how it affects their playstyle.
Drg cause thier outfits and thier moves look really cool and I love easy going relaxing playstyle.
Mch cause the gun style is awesome and the turrents really add more depth and a futuristic element to the job.
Nin cause its IMO the most flashy dps move wise on the game, I also like thier look and the mudra system with them.
I was caught in a love affair between Dragoon and Ninja for awhile, but I think I slightly favor Ninja overall. To sum it up, Dragoon has a rotation, where Ninja has priorities. The distinction being that what you're doing as a Dragoon doesn't really change with the fight which naturally results in combat feeling a bit stale after playing it for awhile. Ninja, to me, feels more adaptable to what is happening which results in me feeling like I'm responding to the game rather than being told what to do by it. It's a small distinction, but it's there.
Here's what happens when I use quelling strikes.
Pop QS, CDs, normal empy, straight, dots(and weaves and stuff), if lucky sidewinder will still hit under qs cause qs is about to fall off at this point, if not it can be a crit sidewinder at 6+k and right after that a barraged empy at ~10k. So yeah my burst hits will usually be hitting outside of qs. And if a tank doesn't have solid aggro by 10-14s then I can't really help them much...
So yeah qs doesn't do much for that. And so far competent tanks have even held off on a an early barraged empy. There sadly just isn't enough of them to go around.
To me, I find the most satisfying thing to be dealing constant, great damage while taking the absolute minimum amount of damage as possible. Dodging aoes while sticking on the target is so much fun. That's why Ultima Weapon in the Praetorium is fun when no one kills the cannons. There is one thing that tops it though. I feel the greatest of all highs when I'm the last one alive in my alliance on a 24 man raid. Nothing tops that.
I love MCH and was so glad to find my dps finally. Rgnesus and burst damage is my thing. (Also I don't like melee)
NO! NO! NO!
STOP!
That's not what this thread is about. If you all want to talk about how you pull hate off of tanks, intentionally or not, make your own thread about it. This thread is about which damage dealing class do you find most satisfying to play!
*grumble*
Stoopid thread drift...

Well for me it'll have to be SMN for it's versatility:
1. I can raise people, so if healer(s) are dead I can raise them thus preventing a wipe for the most part. Also helps them conserve MP/ time if other members die off and their quickcast is on CD
2. I have a spare tank in Titan egi, it makes for a good substitute while waiting for a new tank
3. Some form of utility with traited Virus and E4E
4. I don't feel nearly as punish dps-wise due to boss mechanics as long as my DoTs are in place
Black Mage for me, I love the Fire IV damage. It is a little annoying sometimes though, especially if you have to move around a lot, but well worth the damage output. My other DPS class is Bard and I also really enjoy that. I'm not geared that great on him though, only 215ish, but still enjoy it more and more every time I use him. I especially love being in a party with Black Mages and Summoners so I can use battle voice/Requiem.
My favorites just based on how much I play them have to be the casters. I think it's harder to be good at SMN tho than BLM, so that might give SMN the edge in satisfaction. BLM tho can just downright assassinate a big threat in a group and that is very satisfying also, lol. But I have leveled all the other DPS jobs too except for NIN and have to say that I have also previously considered making MNK and DRG my mains. Both very fun!, although I probably can't remember how to play DRG at this point :D
BRD <3
Songs saved clears many times.
1) Blackmage .. when the opener crits well and you see the high 5 digit numbers float and reaching 5000dps ... nothing like that (and the disappointment when you wipe right after and then have a kill try without raging strikes and a pot in the opener) ;)
2) Hitting Tornado Kick as Monk perfectly timed before a boss gets invulnerable/untargetable
3) Pulling of a SMN opener/rotation and killing the mob group with a well timed deathflare, preferably from 20% to zero with a high crit and everyone's surprised that everything's dead already
DRG.
There is nothing more satisfying than being a full height FemRoe dropping from the skies surrounded by flames.
Furthermore, the "whee whee" sound.
MCH. I like the heavy front loaded damage and not being nearly as immobile or "gun-mage" as people like to pretend.
BRD
Like WhiteArchmage said, when I play other DPS, I feel like I have to frantically push buttons (especially with MCH, which I also like but don't find it as rewarding as BRD). With BRD, I can weave my cooldowns and weaponskills a little more leisurely and reset my DoTs with one button. Plus, I like being able to use support. :-D
Black Mage. Hands down. I love hitting those Crit Fire IV's, and even better if the Bard in the party would FREAKING SING!!!
(with Enhanced Balance or Arrow)
Wow! So many people love their black mages and bards! They are by far the most popular.
Ninja, summoners, and monks are up there in popularity also with the other damage dealers trailing behind. There have also been occasional vote for scholar, white mage, dark knight and warrior, hee hee.
A ton of folks have posted their opinions but I am sure there are many players who have not shouted out their opinions yet. So, what damage dealer do you find to be the most satisfying to play?
Inquiring lalafells would like to know! :D
Off topic: I'm tired of laying in my bed almost all day. Damn this fibromyalgia! I've stories to tell and not going to let pain and fatigue silence me any longer!
So, I am resuming work on Kacho Nacho the Comic Series. I think you'll like it. Expect the webcomic to be out soon.
Wish me luck! Thumbs up!
Definitely NIN for me.
While I like the explosions of Flare and Fire 4, the frustration of not being able to use your LeyLines cuz Boss goes: LOL AOE ON UR LEYLINES THAT STAYS ON THE GROUND THE WHOLE TIME UR LEYLINES IS UP.
While NIN doesn't put up big numbers, seeing the debuffs and pretty much always hitting your skills (no cast interrupts to dodge AoE etc) is satisfying.
Though the lack of explosions is disheartening a bit.
Well, moving and shooting is really appealing for Bard and Machinists, and Black Mages have a really funny Class quest line and huge numbers. Bard was way more popular before 3.0, because of obvious reasons, and I wish that they had made moving pause cast times instead of canceling them. And, shadowbind was so awesome too before it was nerfed for PvP. I like trapping enemies...
DRG for me. I love the flow of damage of the class, the elegant spear movement that weaves left, right, up, down, back and forth in wave motions. Oh, and #Drag0nlaz0rs! Oh, and I love my silver dyed eso armor on him, it's just perfect and draconic! :D
It's funny how in every MMO I start with a paladin'ish sword and board type of class and end up with the polearm/lance class being my semi-bulky main. I seem to have an affinity for the later weapon.
Ahh, before my long ass hiatus, I was ALL about SMN. The versatility is what makes the job so good. DOT for days with the egi giving you a constant stream of damage plus a heal and raise for emergencies? Sign me up!
....buuuuuut the job became all about the dreadwyrm trance on top of the already busy balancing act of the role. I feel a bit over encumbered in post HW content.
So, I'm grinding Rogue now. I have Dragoon at 50, and had monk up on an old character, but I started grinding Rogue on an alt to reteach myself the game's mechanics and LOVED it. I'm just scared I won't enjoy it as much when mudras come into play. :/
Drooling
Dragoon, Dragoon will always be my fav! the feeling of flipping through the air jumping high into the sky just to return and rain fiery death on everything!!!! MWHAHAHAHA Its so satisfying to be in a raid and knowing that I can black flip the the right spot and be next to a boss or add, Also makes for some funny derp fuck ups as well that gets the group to laugh at the LOLgoon #sorrynotsorry And its always fun to poke things to death with a pokey stick poke poke poke DIE
Drg because its a very fast pace job when played correctly. Double weaving moves, hitting 3 moves every second or two .. way faster than so many snail paced jobs.
MCH cause 1) frigging guns in a mideval-style world, can't say no to that. 2) no real set rotation unles I'm going "glass-cannon" mode. & 3) varyiable support, I liked BRD back in 2.0 it was my DPS class back then, just sad I can't lightly self heal as MCH where I had MNK's 2 moves as cross-classes on BRD
You are absolutely correct, and while I'm sure some jobs are worse than others, I think think the pet classes have a bigger disadvantage as they need extra slots dedicated to commanding the pet on top of everything else.
I literally ran out of hotbar slots on my controller layout as a SCH/SMN. That's over 40 buttons! That's why I'm switching to melee. I still have a few open slots, and can remain organized.
It's as much "This class is fun and satisfying!" as it is "I can access all my skills and play comfortably!"
Used to love bard for their dots, utility and mobility but since they got cast times I decided to swap to summoner at the start of Heavensward to have different dots and utility and (imo) better mobility. Right now I'm tempted to swap to BLM to not have a pet and to have a more interesting rotation. Time will tell how I'll adjust to being a turret. :D
{1.0}
I loved LNC the most
{2.0}
I loved BLM the most, despite hating casters.
{3.0}
I havnt played all DPS classes yet, but atm I hate them all. Though I love proc classes, and people tell me to try MCH.
But from what I have played, DRG has been the most tolerable.
(I've never been a DPS at heart, more of a support kinda person)
Hard toss up between MNK and SMN for me.
Pretty much sums up my reasons for MNK.
As for SMN, it's because they're just so useful. Good Damage, Good AoE, plenty of raid utility, the fact that they aren't overly hindered by mobility just makes it a fun class to play. I'll admit, it can be bothersome sometimes to micromanage your pet but damn if the class isn't fun to play.
Lately i got a main setup which goes with Drk/Ast/Smn for endgame and upcoming patches
but i use several dd-cls for the daily/weekly grind content f.e:
- Blm for 50er daily cause its the best cls for bashing trash mobs.
- On the other hand i like melee dds like Ninja for trial dailys in random grps.
- Brd/Mch/cleric whm for main scenario dailys. Cause' especially there, where you are
rushing & bashing much more than in any other content their mobility fits perfectly.
it's really a benefit of FF14 that you are able to switch cls for every single content : )
Cheers
Yuni ^^
SMN for me. I don't mind spreading my DOTS on everything and doing group wide damage. Then again if I know there's a certain nasty single mob in the group that needs to die I can focus a bit on that one to finish it off while everything else is taking damage.
I enjoy the few party buffs I have, being able to give E4E to a tank or Virus as I learn moves that are dangerous for the party. I notice a difference on some things when I add Virus and see the damage done so that's good for me. Being able to raise and help the healers out when I'm not healing. Radiant Shield for larger pulls or just in general if I feel like using Ifrit.
Black mage, nuking out 18K+ fire IV crits makes me feel all light and tingly
SMN when I'm learning a new fight or just feel like cruising and still putting out good DPS.
BLM when I know the fight and want to feel like a walking nuclear bomb.
NIN when I feel like running around instead of just standing in place.
