Another reason subs couldn't come soon enough.
Here's the thing. I originally decided to stick it out when they admitted they dropped the ball and promised change.Quote:
I will agree with Betelgeuzah, it is rather simple. Its is not completely black and white in regards to subscribing, you either are having fun and continue playing by subscribing on 1.20 or you don't and either move on to new games or wait until 1.21, 1.22, 1.23 or finally 2.0 to come back.
I did take a lengthy break from about February to April, because I wasn't having that much fun.
Since May, the game has been improving in very short strides. But there's a lot of big change coming in the next few updates. I guess I'm alone in expecting them to have talked about what they said they would.
This thread is now about applewood-smoked bacon and waffles. SE is inffalable.
I'm still waiting to see what the 'fail was' especially considering 2.0 is the focal point of FFXIV at this present time and he even said himself everything being done is leading up to it
You only have your fellow peers to blame that questions were mostly about...the future of FFXIV as that's most important. 1.20w ill have comprehensive patch notes, as usual.
you have to think the reason most of the questions are on the future. is because that is what most of the buzz is about atm. and also 1.20 is really not that long a wait :P so i can wait for the full patch notes :P
Yea there will probably be ton of stuff coming out about 1.20 in the next few weeks like there was for 1.19, so I'm glad we didn't waste too much time on that stuff, personally. Jobs are probably still being worked on so they wouldn't be able to give specifics.
I am somewhat dissapointed in the interview myself. I was expecting maybe some AF armor pictures or some detailed info about the jobs...well either way the updates are coming..I guess just have to be patient and see!
The mount stuff was pretty cool though :) The thing I did not like the most was him talking about "Are you sure you want to change genders" and "Dragoon might get a pet" nooooo ;~;
They've shown a whole lot of the job armor already though, unless you meant in-game. Supposedly some of it is already in the game files. They will probably hold off on giving too much specifics about jobs till closer to 1.21 since they are most likely still being worked on.
I'm really just irritated that he did not discuss any possible ideas to alleviate the crafting Grind. I love crafting in this game, yeah the mini game is mindless, but I still enjoy it. I don't want to see it get destroyed because he refuses to address the issue until players rage shouting scrap it.
The least he could have done was say whether or not he will make XP adjustments and finish the recipe overhaul..
I have to agree here, what's the big hurry with people? Yeah, I'd like to see a couple of things change, but looking at what they've risen this game to compared to what it was at release, I see no reason to doubt their abilities to deliver.
In other words, PATIENCE people! No sense in getting all excited until you're looking at the actual 1.20 patch notes anyway, so just stay calm for crying out loud lol.
It sounds to me like you're blowing this out of proportion honestly. I joined back in 1.8. I didn't understand what the issue was back then, as to why this game was so hated. That's when I learned how bad it was at launch.
I guess you being from beta you're definitely still reeling from that sense of betrayal (a point you've made quite clearly) so go ahead and demand answers if you think you're that entitled to it. Don't really blame ya I suppose.
Anyhow, seeing as I'm a new player returning again after the 1.9 update, I honestly feel like things are moving along exactly where they need to be for FFXIV and I'm looking forward to 1.20, whatever it is :) Seeing as how I got a fresh view of this game, I'd honestly not mind paying for it. The dev team has demonstrated that it's committed, and that should mean a lot. Does to me at least!
I just wanted to know whats coming next month not next year. Yoshi has np problem discussing next years stuff cause he can change his mind at will. But something this month is near impossible. I just want the classes balanced, effective and consistant. I dont want another boss fight = balance changes again.
Can someone link me the details? I didn't see anything on the main Lodestone page yet.
1.2 patch notes will come.
OK, he didn't talk about 1.2 as much as you want as he spoke a lot of the talk about the OTHER topic he's listed which is future of FFXIV, that's too bad.
It's not that I have a problem with the pace of the game, or when patches are coming out, or what SE is going to change. I just don't want to be in the dark.Quote:

Yoshida has had plenty of time to elaborate on 2.0 from the announcement of it to the 10 or so interviews he's done since then.
This was supposed to be about 1.19/1.20. I'm just calling SE out. Just like the class changes info that was supposed to be released when 1.19 was released, they're not giving us the information they say they're going to. Instead it's this 2.0 sleight-of-hand that has everyone chomping at the bit.
I used to think I was a fanboy till I spent some time on these forums.
The class change information was mentioned to be coming next week. Yes it stinks that we're getting it this late but we're getting it. They have probably been tinkering with/planning out more stuff than they initially thought.
I thought it was awesome, better than the last letter.. People complain too much ;v
Someone probably said they need to start getting some money from the game, because it is loosing them so much every month, let me put it to you this way, if there were 10k subscribers at $10/month fee, thats 100k they are loosing every month, then we take into account that the game has been live for 13 months now, thats $1.3m they have now lost, and lets not forget the money to pay staff, they need to get this back.
If it bothers you that much then dont, but I will enjoy my seventh umbral era content and gear that these people will never get.Quote:
In the mean time, we're told that as they work on the new, release-quality version of the game, they'll toss us some super special ont-time content -- at the rate of one battle every three months.
So my question stands. Why should I pay to wait for these battles when I could just as well not pay till a month before 2.0 and reap the same rewards as someone who sat on their hands for 11 months?
Ok you can have no new content for 1 year, have fun fighting ifrit and running DH for 1 year and nothing else, personnaly I want the content that will only be available in the 7th umbral era (which is what this next year is mainly about)Quote:
4) Yoshida has already said they can't make further enhancements along the way. The answer to lag is 2.0. So my question in response is, why develop content that is so affected by it. "Deal with it" is not acceptable.
They werent vague stabs in the dark, they were from the traditional roles of the jobs, DRG, WAR and MNK are always DDs, while WAR can take damage, but not quite as well as a PLD they are a viable tank for various situations, while DRG and MNK take extremly high damage. PLD is the only tank job out of what they have chosen to use, with WAR in a select few situations, but PLD will always be the best tank. BRD they have always said that it will get a bow, that transforms into a harp, therefore they will beable to do damage with the bow, and support with a harp.Quote:
5) Great, vague general guesses in the dark. That really clears things up. I'd ask you to cite your sources but, oh wait, you just made all of that up.
If you read the questions and answers you would know that he said when we move to the 2.0 servers they may use a NPC to hold your items because they may reduce the inventory, this means come 2.0 we may loose some inventory, however all our items will be with a NPC, whether the NPC will be permanant storage or just until we have taken everything transfered has yet to be answered.Quote:
7) Yes, they are being taken away. Yoshida specifically said the extra inventory slots received in 1.19 are temporary and will be removed. It'd just be nice to know if that meant 1.20 or 2.0.
There are always unforseen problems with software, especially games, take these examples in FFXI there was an update which had nothing to do with cures, however all cures did 99,999 damage to undead, how could they forsee that? and because cures werent changed it wasnt tested. From somthing else not gaming related. The Duqu trojan, has been seen to use a previously unknown weakness in Microsoft Word's coding to gain permissions it shouldnt, therefore it can spy on your PC and your anti-malware would not know. Now if all of these were tested as thouroghly as I would expect FFXIV is, they may have seen them but they would take longer to release, You can have a completly broken update ontime if you want, I will take my update a week late and everything work.Quote:
9) Yeah, yeah. We all know how well SE is at predicting these things when they're three months out. We've yet to have one delivered on the initial target. So I guess I should have been more clear and asked for an update on the progress of 1.20.
This to me just sounds like you are butthurt because they didnt answer what you wanted, you already said you didnt stay up to see it, so why should your questions be answered over the people who did watch it, did you even post the questions, because if not you cant say they didnt answer your questions, they will take the most popular questions, so if say a 2.0 question was asked 300 times, but one of your questions was asked 299 times they would choose the one asked most, and you asking could sway them. If no one asked about 1.20 and 1.21 they wont answer them end of story good bye.Quote:
10) I've been patient for a year. I was patient when I uttered the phrase "it's only beta, they'll fix it" as I plunked down $70 for my collectors edition. Ive been patient as they've failed to meet their own deadlines. I've had enough of being patient. It's not like I'm expect a year's worth of content right now. I just want them to talk about what they say they're going to talk about when they say they're going to talk about it.
Why does that make me impatient or the bad guy?
As I said above they were answered because people are really hyped about 2.0, they want as much info as they can therefore 2.0 questions were asked most by fans its not SE's prioroties that are messed up, its the fan's questions so why not rage at the fans for not answering the almighty Sephrick's (oh look another lame Sephiroth rip off, guess that explains why you cant understand how the live letter works) questions.Quote:
We know they're working on 2.0, and that's great. But 1.20 is coming about 13 months sooner than 2.0. The priorities in this live letter were just backwards. Par for the course for SE.
Thread fail.

You guys who expect gigantic bombshells to drop with each new letter are just setting yourselves up for disappointment.
Yoshida chose the area that he wanted to promote.....Ver 2.0. I fully undersatand that. It is where the future of the game lies.
Still if you read the now closed thread you will see that there were many good questions concerning topics covering the time between now and then. If SE is truelly concerned about keeping us informed these questions would be compiled and distributed to the appropriate teams for response within the next 30 days. Keeping the players informed on all aspects of future developement that they are concerned about would be a very smart buisness decision if you are wanting them to pay subscription fees.
The bold being the part you somehow didnt see, lets not forget how 2.0 was announced, "Important information regarding The Future of Final Fantasy XIV so it was relevent as they announced it, /sigh I think these sephiroth rip offs get thicker as time goes on.Quote:

The amount of fanboy apologizing going on today is disgusting. It's like everyone is plugging their ears and going "lalala I can't hear you lalala!" Its simple, they said they'd talk about 1.19 content, plans for 1.20 and beyond. These are facts. It's also facts that all they did was fill an hour and a half with bs tidbits.
They dropped the ball. They had the attention of a lot of people and just flubbed.
I've said several times that I'm aware that 2.0 falls in the category of "beyond." But so too. Do 1.21, 1.22 and 1.23 and their subsequent sub patches. So they covered what, 1/5 of their intended topics and I'm supposed to wet myself with appreciation?
They expect us to pay for 1.20-1.23, why are they being so mum about its content? And more so, why are all these fanboys ok with being lied to?
You fail to recognise the questions were asked by fans, and fans are hyped about 2.0 and want to know about it, 1.20, 1.21, 1.22 and 1.23 are minor patches compared to it and most dont really care, we know that they will be focused around the 7th umbral era and the fact that it will change Eorzea in major ways, what exactly these changes are are somthing I would prefer to see through playing the game.
I dont want to know that at the end of XXX live open area quest causes Gridania to be destroyed and in the next patch we will log into Gridania in ruins, I want to be "OMG OMG I had no idea this was coming" because this will keep me playing to see what happens with it, like there are quests around rebuilding Gridania before 2.0, then we get the new Gridania in 2.0.
We already know 1.20 - 2.0 is the 7th umbral era which is a live event that changes through the patches, which is all we need to know, and details about content when they are ready to be released.
Seemed to me as if they could show more about the job system, quests and gear. I hope the info comes soon.
lol. So why have a live letter advertising a them of all patches from here on out if the answer is "We Hurd u Lik seventh Umbral era so we put a seventh Umbral era in your sixth astral era, bro!"
I still don't see how they didn't drop the ball. They showed some shinies about crap for a year from now and the ADD fanboys who have been anxious to throw more money at SE since 1.17 just ate it up.
Yes, because these forums taught me the true meaning of the term.Quote:
So, you used to think you were a fanboy..now you're resorting to call others who are telling they did do as promised..fanboys?
