ROFL.. Step into the way-back machine and level a toon to 60 in vanilla WoW on a PVP server and tell me how "shut up" the community is...

We already have all this in one (but pvp yet), why would make it more trickier ? Its Okay now.Quote:
They should implement a PvP server, hardcore server, casual server, a server with lighter restrictions (see Optimal Rank and Favoured Class system).
Usually I would agree that we should have PvP, PvE, RP and PvP-RP servers.
However, the style of PvP that will be implemented in this game will not involve PKing. And that's usually the main reason to ever designate PvP servers (playing in an open PvP environment versus PvE servers, where you must flag yourself PvP). But if Yoshi-P ever changes his stance on this, it would be imperative to only make PKing happen on PvP servers.
I would love to see RP servers, but the FFXIV Role-Playing Coalition has already gathered most of the RP community in one place, and designated Besaid the unofficial RP server. I'd be fine with RP servers, as long as Besaid was named one of them. :)
That's somewhat circuitous logic though. If there was a PvP server, then there WOULD BE PKing. So saying there is no PKing and therefore no purpose for a PvP server is a logical fallacy.
Anyways, the reason I made this thread/suggestion is because I have noticed a call for certain things such as Traditional style FFXIV and also a Hardcore (more grindy game) so figured an obvious solution would be to divide the servers into tailored rulesets.
To say that this would burden the ENTIRE DEV TEAM is a stretch considering they already have the coding for most of the stuff i suggested (beside the PvP server).
EllohWell = Gifthorse / force / user10840851 ?
The real question is who isn't gifthorse in this day and age.
How about this? If you don't like the game and its current rulesets, uninstall it. And leave.
k?
I love how you assume I encouraged anything from anyone before there were any changes. I hardly played from release to 1.18. When 1.18 came out, I started playing a lot again. When 1.19 came around, I played more. So far, no bad ideas in my eyes. So... how am I a hypocrite? Oh, right. I'm not.
*points at the door* Go ahead.
You could always do what was done with multitudes of other MMOs when people didn't like the rules imposed by their companies: private servers.
all we need are these...
pvp server
pve server
pvp-pve hybrid server
RP server
semi-RP server
AH only server
Market Ward only server
Jump server
Non-Jump server
jump with swim server
jump w/o swim server
silly mount server
chocobo mount only server
language specific server
non language specific server
servers for a-holes
servers for non-a-holes
lalafell only server
mi'quote only server
man'quote only server
hard core super grind server
press select to reach all-lv.50 server
dragoon has wyvern server
dragoon without wyvern server
etc. etc., did I miss anything?
of course, we also will need combinations of these type of servers, so I estimate SE only has to create a few thousand servers to satisfy everyone :D
you missed one
server for ellohwell only
sorry i couldn't resist,
but seriously severs for this severs for that. such a bad idea, just the suggestion of language servers has not gone down well. ppl don't want their server becoming unpopulated. and if you set up so many servers with so many rule sets, this will lead to some more popular servers than others. and some ppl could end up in a ghost town server because they picked the wrong one
I request pogo stick server
You know, I'm very grateful for SE giving such extensive effort to include the feedback of the player base in the reconstruction of this game. It allows them to keep an open mind and gain a free source of ideas from which they can pick out ones that fit their direction of the game, or inspire new ideas.
However, every time I see an OP like this I am reminded of the side-effects of this open communication approach:
The more SE attempts to consider the feedback of the player base as a whole, the more individual players with a delusional sense of entitlement appear. Suddenly there are players who feel empowered, as if their singular voice is profoundly important and SE must heed their words in order to carry the game to salvation. Anyone who doesn't agree with these people are then branded as unintelligent, or the reason the game is in it's current state.
SE will consider the opinion of the players collectively. They will look at the numbers. More importantly, they will consider how any ideas fit with their vision of the game's future, and make decisions based on that.
It is equally naive to presume anything implemented in this game so far or any change made is due to the effort of a single group of players who post on these forums as it is to presume that one's singular voice has any profound meaning.
Ultimately it is a game. Like any other entertainment media, not everyone will enjoy it. Some people will like it more than anything else, whereas others will not be able to stand a minute of it. Instead of behaving like you are entitled to drastic accommodations, just decide whether you enjoy this game or not. Then decide if you wish to continue to play it.
the game at present doesnt even have ......mail.....and you expect different server types  errrrrrr.........
not gonna happen and I for one am happy.
i still say no pvp...ever... plz go to aion /rift / or even wow if you want some pvp.
BUT that aside, nothing is preventing anyone from playing the style of game they enjoy.
server "type" never makes a difference even when there are designated rp/pvp/pve. in other games. it never sticks to the rules even when they are clearing laid out lol.
find what you like about the game and focus on that, be a rp, or a casual and enjoy time away in rl, be hardcore and never log out , need alot of challenge?. do all dungeons/NM naked, or go solo some of those lv 90 mobs i seen. (monster distribution really needs some rework se)
the game is striving to improve, and frankly, survive, the very core of the game is slowly but surely getting better and better and hats off to SE for that!
dont worry about diff servers SE, stay focused and simply improve the core of everything first, make it something to be proud of...that is all.
;)
do you realize how much of a maintenance effort this would be?
let me anwser that: obviously not.
/end thread
Don't hate on my navy font, lawl.
Also, I'm sure your reasoning is entirely altruistic as your motive behind making this suggestion is for SE to attract more players and make more money - not you wishing to be able to play the game how you wish it was versus how it actually is.
Dividing the playerbase = bad. Your suggesting that such a system will attract more players and increase game population and even dim down whining is naive and without base.
I'm sorry, I am strongly against such a divisive system. Good thing the current team at SE consists of people with good heads on their shoulders, so they'll just ellohwell at your idea and go on.
TL;DR: Not gonna happen.
i kinda agree with the op, i been saying this for long time they need to give pve mmo's hardcore and casual servers or put them all together but seperate auction houses, and rules ...let them only be able to do smaller things together that don't effect there game rules and set. pvp games have 2 server types, pvp and non, so i don't see why not. beats losing some of any group type. diablo 3 also has a hardcore mode in it, while it's more simpler to the effect that i think only difference is u lose everything when u die, it still has 2 difficulty modes and they have them both on same servers.
The simplest problem with this concept is the content would be to spread out. People would complain if one server ruleset got more content then another or why one server seems to have more engaging content then the other. The truth about MMOs is you have the opportunity to enjoy all that it has to offer, not force you to do what you don't want to do. In terms of pvp XIV is never a game where there will be open pvp it will always be a game based pvp so those who wish not to do it don't have to but those who want to do it can. In terms of hardcore/casual and light, that to can easily be remedied based on how they wish to progress with the game.
If you look at how the content is being released atm, it does favor everyone in their own unique way while it's really hard to define a light* player I think it's just better to stick with casual and hardcore.
A casual player will be in light parties, so they only need 4 people, heck since they seem to have plans to implement an npc system you may only need two actual people to form a light party. Since you are in a light party with only two players you may opt to just use classes so that you can diverse your abilities for the situation, while you might not be able to handle things the hardcore can handle right away, with the world search function for events they plan on introducing it shouldn't be hard to find others in the same situation if you really want to do the content.
For hardcore they are given more options to work with, since they have more people with them they can focus their abilities through jobs and allow them to perform better in a difficult fight, while they can burn through the content and obtain the reward faster it doesn't mean that the casual won't be able to do the same if they take the time to find others that wish to do the same.
Also if you think of it as casual/hardcore servers, what's to stop the hardcore form going to casual if the concept behind it is that it's easier. As for a pvp server there truly is no need for it since the game won't have an open world pvp lol.
some people want the challenge, if they all go to casual then guess what then they know there isn't really a market for hardcore lol, and all they gotta do is close the server. but pretty sure there is a nice chunk of player base. i think u'd be surprise to see that more of the casuals come tip toeing back into the hardcore pool.
as for pvp i kinda agree, least with ffxiv less they work it in witch would be great too, i don't see ffxiv as a pvp game even if they add it in. but still if there is a place for it, almost all mmo's now are coming out with pvp and non pvp servers. so a next step being casual and hardcore would make sense to me.
