My main concern is red craft tokens, although I have a quite few of all types. Be damned if I'm grinding for months and end up being able to get nothing but crappy grade VI materia or blue scrip for it.

I so want the matoya cave theme. That was one of the songs that you only hear once or twice in it's actual location and then basically never return unless it's for story reasons.
I saw nothing on using these. I think many of us continued to use red scripts to buy tokens. Personally I held mine and didn't buy fishing gear given I hoped we'd be able to use then in someway for the new gear. I sincerely hope there is a way to convert them back or use them for the new stuff.
This crafting stuff is confusing me.
I'm so confused
yep finally someone that can synthesize !!! my hero !!
Whelp. I'm farming the #*%& out of Moggle Mog now. My life is complete.Quote:

I can't help but be a little salty, as I'm almost positive SE left out how we were going to buy the new red scrip gear until they brought the game down. I'm sitting on 38 or so red scrip tokens, and it feels as though they just wanted to add the new Goblin items to screw over people who wanted to preempt this patch.
I guess I'll use my stockpile of red tokens to buy the final two blue token fishing books I never cared to get? :/
Either i'm being blind or there's still no new Grand Company ranks. I could've sworn that that was coming.
I'm so excited about the weeping city, it looks stunning. I loved void ark but didn't like the aesthetics

Since some folks still seem to be confused, here's a simplified rundown of the scrip changes:
- BLUE SCRIPS can buy: All the things they bought before, and now they can also buy Rowena's Tokens (Blue Scrip).
- RED SCRIPS can buy: All the things they bought before, and now they can also buy Goblin items. Be careful not to buy Rowena's Tokens (Red Scrip) anymore! These are now a huge waste of Red Scrips (unless you're super hard-up for materia).
- ROWENA'S TOKENS (BLUE SCRIP) can buy: All the things Rowena's Tokens (Red Scrip) could buy before. Essentially, there is no longer a weekly cap on buying the previous endgame gear. It is also much easier, as Blue Scrips are much easier to come by.
- ROWENA'S TOKENS (RED SCRIP) can buy: Tier IV Materia and Rowena's Tokens (Blue Scrip). Basically, you can convert your old Red Scrip tokens into Blue Scrip tokens, and thereby purchase the same stuff you could buy with Red Scrip tokens before.
- GOBLIN ITEMS can buy: All the new gear. They are, essentially, the new Rowena's Tokens (Red Scrip).
Just as with DoM/DoW gear, SE works actively to discourage anyone from getting a big "head start" on higher-tier gear. This doesn't come as any surprise to me. It IS nice that they gave us something to do with our stored Red Scrip tokens.
This is so weird... so we, that actually work hard to have all Gatherer/Crafter Gear..are stupids, cause it doesnt matter all the red tokens you have.. they are useless!.. (and Gatherer Materia IV it is not a worth!)
THX Yoshida, for all the wasted of time i spent gathering or crafting to cap tokens weekly... ¬¬U..thanks so much!
Well if this is so then I can at least buy the Fishing Gear I elected not to buy with Red Tokens before. One of the reasons I didn't buy the gear was that I THOUGHT I READ that the gather gear was going to a unified set of gear for all gatherers as opposed to what appears to be a system that simply augments the existing gear we already have.
It's essentially just like the battle gear, all the lore your collecting now will be really easy to get in 3.4 and a new tomestone will be added. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of it either. Seems like you can still buy the stuff for lvl 170/180 gear with your red scrip tokens. It's just not the highest item level gear anymore.
The planned obsolescence is so good you would think Apple makes FF14. Depending on what these recipes look like i might just finish my HQ lvl 170 sets, get to 3 star, and call it a day until next expansion.
Yea, I'm not surprised much either. Just wish they mentioned the Goblin items in the Preliminary notes, so we would know not to buy any tokens before the reset. I (now obviously) stupidly just assumed, since no mention of new "tokens", it would be more red tokens and bought all 9 weekly red tokens.
Heaven forbid you have to do new patch stuff to get new patch gear.
DoW/DoM don't get to save old tomestones to buy the newest stuff on new gear patches, why should DoH/DoL? At least if you have 450 scrips stockpiled you'll get to immediately use them on Thursday.
Guessing Glass Fiber is the moogle equivalent of Ehcatl Sealant to keep people from gearing up the new i190 stuff too fast. Them potion/food changes though, it's about time (potions anyway)
So basically you use the new Augnented crafter gear to get your stats up so you can craft the ironworks? Or something....
On a side note they changed the Gridania example pic of the new arrows leading to new areas on the map & removed the arrow that pointed up bc it was "content still in development" HINT HINT
But they screw over whoever bought tokens with scrips and let those who stockpiled 500 scrips get a headstart. I'd say that's unfair. Why not just put in Rowena's Yellow Scrips or something if you're going to do that? I'm rather baffled they thought keeping in red scrips was fine. What you usually have is this:
-Old lesser currency can be turned into Old best currency at a terrible ratio
-Old best currency is now baseline earned with any activity
-New best currency is made, need to grind from day 1 for everyone
With how they handled red scrips, like I mentioned previously, either you played by their rules and got screwed over (turning red scrips into tokens waiting to see if anything new happened) or you played half by their rules and came out ahead (stockpiled anyway, but in scrips format, rather than token). Bad design.
They stated a few times that there'll be no new ranks until they create content to justify it and go along with it, currently they're working on a Legion system which lets you enroll people to fight with you, people you'll train and the higher your rank the more you can enroll in your legion, tho we don't know how far they are in that project, if it's just an idea or actually being developed.
It's not, for a start when the new battle gear comes out, people know in advance. well in advance. They also know if they have a stockpile of whatever tomestone, they can still spend it on gear. They also know they can keep their lore (up to 2000) for purchases after a patch. They've basically dumped this on us with no notice, while all the time forcing us into buying the tokens because the cap was a crappy 500. And to make it worse, if you got this week's tokens you're screwed, someone is already 500 ahead of you for no good reason. If they did that to the battle classes there would be pandemonium.
i can see what you mean by unfair but i see it the same way as beastmen tribes anyone who hops on tuesday morning before daily reset gets a 1 day lead on everyone else in the beastmen dailes, course i will say red scrips is weekly not daily but you can still hold on to your weekly 450 til the next reset.
it's not like they are using the red scrip tokens still that for me would be unfair since i haven't been hording them for the last few months but i can easily get 450 red tokens in 2 days.
there was no reason to spend your scrips before reset, the game doesn't magically screw you over it you don't spend them before reset just if you don't get them anyone who bought more red tokens with them instead of waiting screwed themselves you only gained by waiting till after patch day to spend them.
meaning the smart thing to do would have been spend then every week but this week and wait till full patch notes came out then did something.
Shame about the red scrip hoarding issue. They probably don't care since it's crafting/gathering. Games that used similar systems in the past reset currencies and convert it into money automatically before a new tier begins if they don't add a new one to level the playing field.
Would have made more sense if they converted red scrips to blue scrips during the maint to add the new items. and let it go over the cap, but you can't get anymore until you spend it and get below the cap.
Alright. Let's clear some stuff up. This is MY guesswork so take it as you will.
i170 gear --> This is the crafted stuff. They made it i170 which is the bare minimum for grade V melding, which ticks me off a lil but no matter I'll sitll meld my gathering gear.
i190 gear --> This is the lower tier red script gear. Yes I know it's odd theres i190 and i200 untradable gear but the difference being ths i190 will not require the goblin shit we will need to trade our red scripts for.
i200 gear --> Our upgraded versions of our current red script gear. This is the same as before: crafted was i150 and the best untradable was i180. 30 ilvls above only this time we'll have grade V materia to pump into our crafted stuff.
i195 tools --> New tools using 3.2 mats. Be thankful if you saved up mats like I did and that once again us high end gatherers can make a lot of gil off this stuff. Like holy crap this stuff is gonna sky rocket.
i190 accessories --> If I recall these are craftable? As I understood they weren't gonna add new accessories and belts until 3.4... Thanks for the heads up SE. It's a shame I spent over 30m on my i170 melds(700 GP and no I didn't go the cheap route and sacrifice a crap ton of gather/perception)
And yes, we can't use our stockpile of red script tokens to get the new gear and materials for said gear. Both you and I were naive to think SE would allow us to make use of our red script tokens from the get-go, giving us access to the ALL of the new stuff on day one.(you know who i'm talking to, I aint throwing this statement at EVERYONE(yeah, I had to clarify, cus ppl on forums can be idiots))
This patch looks fun. Lots of gil to be made in both the housing sector and the gathering and crafting front and even the battle front with the dreadwyrm replica gear. A very nice QoL update.
It's easier to blame SE / the patch than to blame oneself for lack of foresight.
Could they have done it differently? Probably. But they didn't.
Complaining won't change it.
If this didn't give some people a headstart, something else would.
Being able to be online more, getting the patch downloaded faster, spending more time crafting than others.
There will always be some ahead of others, if they did it like this in the patch or differently.
@ Post above me: As far as I understood it, the current i180 untradeable crafter gear + the new goblin items = the i200 untradeable, class-specific gear (augmented stuff). There's a new 170 craftable set that any craft class can wear, and a new 190 craftable set that any class can wear - with the 190 probably being quite difficult to craft (thus maybe requiring the i200 gear for stats, but that's speculation).
I "kinda" glad I didn't stock red scrip but the blue scrip. I wonder if Replica Dreadwyrm gear is 3 star recipe...?
You probably are. I doubt they'd let us get all the new stuff day one cus we stockpiled. You know Se love to balance stuff, or try to anyways.
No, it's untradable because the augmented isn't in the new recipes.
Hey, thats 30 grade IV materia which frankly will become useful with our melding. I doubt it, you're gonna rage in fury.
Again, this is a balancing decision.
I'm ticked off it's not in 3.3.
I don't blame SE. If they wanted to avoid the small head start some will get then they would need to make a new system for scripts, like yellow scripts or something, and idk if they wanna do they yet, or at all for that matter.
They can anticipate things, but it doesn't mean they will avoid every pitfall possible, sometimes there are prices to pay. SE isn't stupid.
Probably. I'm assuming it's also specialized crafting seeing as the current replica stuff is no longer specialized.
The new gathering gear is nice and sadly i converted my red scrips to tokens cause i was near capped but honestly are they adding more nodes or items that require higher stats? How exactly will the new gear affect what we are already gathering?
The patch looks awesome! Very excited for the new content. My only concern is the fact that there is A LOT of new gear and items being added to the game, but we all still have the same amount of storage space. A lot of us already have very little storage space as it is, and without paying more money to have additional retainers, it looks like we're gonna have to toss items we've been holding onto to make space for the new items. I wish SE would take this issue into consideration and provide us with more storage space. There's a reason we're holding onto the items we are holding onto which are causing us to have very little storage space and it really is a bummer that it pretty much looks like a lot of us will have to be making some tough choices when it comes to what we are willing to get rid of in order to be able to make storage space for the new items.
Does anyone know definitively what the new ilevel will be for relic?
Unless our new relic weapons are called "Horde -----", then they didn't show up in the patch notes at all, meaning the item doesn't change this patch (in terms of iLv), it just get secondary stats tacked onto our existing "Hyperconductive -----" through a quest.
I saw that... but I was under the impression that the new relic would have a new look. Why is it that we can now purchase replica's of the hyperconductives if there isn't a new version available? I would think the Horde weapons were perhaps drops in the new trial Nithoggs Rage?
They might of omitted it or forgot. They added the replicas for conductive, and IIRC they said each weapon would get a new look. Probably ilvl240, then another quest in 3.3x to bring it to 245 when they add or after they add the lore weapon upgrade item before the tier/gear reset in 3.4.
