Nobody mentioned Gilgamesh yet? the god of war?
i could imagine a strong attack from gilgamesh first and then after he disappears to buff all group members with a very strong attack and critical attack boost to all melee characters.

and his own attack not to be that strong than the elemental attacks such as like ifrits inferno etc. but therefore a buff for all members who summoned him.

It would perfectly fit to FF14 like in FF12 :

for me fenrir doesnt really fit into the role of a "good" its a perfect pet to your side it think like carby for example but with more focus in doint damage than carbuncle. so I would put him more into the "Avatar" list.

I've always liked the different summons from the games, but I have to say I like the way Yoshi is thinking about not reducing the god-like status of the Primals to the point of having, as he said, 20 mini-frits jumping around at the same time. Its like.. Dr. Evil and his Mini Me's.. eh. It also makes using things like Bahamut and Alexander (which I'm surprised only ONE person mentioned...how dare you! sigh) more feasible.

It also opens the door for them to do something really dramatic.. say for instance, if a single free company can capture all of the Primals to unlock an even bigger Primal, for instance, KotR or Eden..

Now.. my actual question regarding this topic is Odin. He was put into the files as a Wandering Elder Primal and somewhere it says something about it getting stronger each time its defeated. I want to know more about that.. it gets stronger everytime a group of players defeats it, or can we have a Primal that actually gets stronger when it kills US? I like the latter..something that could cause an entire game world to rally together with the open claim/killing system they have.

Of course to be fair for such an epic battle... everyone player who participates in the battle would receive a fire crystal!

We might have at one point, but with no way to remove members who were no longer active a new shell had to be made.

Though now its just occurred that by "real" you probably meant in the legend, not a reference to the fact the the shell is now called "Knights of the Round 2". Well, there's 32 listed on Wikipedia if that's anything to go by.

It may have not been a summon under the players control exactly but as for one I'd like to see again it would have to be Ultimecias Griever from FFVIII. I always enjoyed fighting him and thought it was a pretty cool concept. Aside from Griever I'd have to agree with all the classic summon suggestions on here. Either a primal or an avatar in a summoners hands I'd just like to see these in FFXIV.

Another generally forgotten one would have be FFVIIIs Eden, if that would ever be put into another game (like FFXIV) I'd imagine that would certainly be a primal only, that thing was massive...

I think making the Twelve Espers of FFXII Into Level I, II, III and Grand Avatars would be awesome. There's a lot of possibilities here, XIV has potential, and who knows.

Primals are Powerful beings with powers that of Gods, Yoshi said summoning Primals should be special, dynamic and the Last Trump Card thing.

Avatars are summons with Unique powers, although not as strong as a Primals, but can be summoned with less cost. (Possibly)

Damn, I forgot all about Griever. That would be awesome.

It would really kind of suck if all the classic summons were limited to a handful of free companies that are large enough to get a lock on them. The issue I see with this system is you will see a few companies that basically pass the primals around between them, and the smaller ones never get to call them.

For summons I would like to see:
